Holy shit, an Avran action figure doll would be awesome but instead of being a Terje that you could bend and fold into all kinds of grabs, it'd be absolutely stiff and have detailed K2 Thraxis boots and Rome Black Label bindings.

There have been more non-paid reviews. I have them myself and it's almost like the binding in USA is different built. I only recognize mabye 2 points.

My favorite bit I saw about these before this video was when Malcom Moore mentioned he was approached to review them but when he asked to try to get some clarification on some of his concerns over the bindings they decided not to send him a review pair.

I got the Clew bindings because at 74 yo I wanted something a little easier to get into. After having multiple strap breakages and screws falling out I was fed up. Luckily, because of the hype, I was able to sell them at the Larson’s annual swap meet for a little more than half of what I paid.

100% why I’m a fan of you mister…..i couldn’t believe how cheap these bindings looked/felt like in person. Then you watch all these talking heads praising them….glad you once again proved where your allegiance lies…to snowboarders and snowboarding itself. This take was fire!! Keep it up!

Been following your reviews for years but realized I'd apparantly never subscribed. This video however is the best one yet and dang I went straight for that subscribe button. Honest reviews on gear is awesome, calling out people due to obvious reasons is golden.

This review was a project of passion. Shout out for putting your life on the line so that others may live to ride another day. In all seriousness this review could save lives.

finding non sponsered reviews on this thing is quite the challenge, glad you posted this before I bought a pair of them.

I was on a gondola with a kid who was using those. He said the toe strap broke the first time he used them. He asked me about my supermatics and if I liked them, yes I do.

What did you use before nidecker supermatics? I like the look of them. I have used rear entry flow copies for the past four years and love them but would consider upgrading

I used flows, the stiffer carbon model. The supermatics are less stiff but once I got them dialed in the are great. I use thraxis boots so the boots themselves are stiff enough themselves. I really like the supermatics quite a bit but I'm 48 so I'm a bit old and like the convenience and speed of just stepping in.

Super matics have a carbon model for next year too I rode them at Brighton last week on the Gamma so sick and sick a natural feel! Rumor has it supermatic is wanting to extend the line up and make a lighter freestyle one and a women's specific model

My 13yr old son asked me the other day why are all the influencers you mentioned Procamp, Buckhouse etc. sprooking these bindings, I told him, they're getting paid to do it and the bindings are most likely junk. If you’ve ever been to an SIA show there’s always a handful of utterly ridiculous inventions that just boggle your mind, but they usually don’t make it to full on production. How this one got as far as it did says a lot about the people taking up snowboarding now🙄

ive rocked the supermatics, step ons, and clews and im sticking with the step ons. same convenience as the others with less weight and super responsive feel. in the park i still rock traditional bindings for the looser feel

Nearly every other binding review video on your channel is under 5 mins, mostly just to provide specs and describe how they feel/function. I absolutely love how much time and care you put into ripping apart every single aspect of these gimmicky dumpster fires. Now we just need someone to convince Clew to make a Rotational Binding version to unleash your fullest anger potential 🤣

Thank you for this, confirming all the suspicions I had! Developing a quality binding takes a lot of experience, and I did not think the clueless guys behind this product seemed convincing. And Procamp def lost plot with this and Outdoor Masters promotion....

Thank you for this - almost bought these but did a bit more research and decided it’s not even worth getting step-ons, let alone these. This put the nail in the coffin!

So glad I went with the Supermatics. I've taken them out 11 days this year so far, I've had no problems.

Great honest review! Something to ease that sore back. Frankly, the Clew concept just didn’t appeal and I ignored them. A bit surprised how poor the execution is - definitely good to know. From a guy who lifts weights 😂 Cheers

thanks for your honest review. i was searching for any negative reviews on these when i was looking to purchase a set for this season but didn't find any, so i bought a set. had this review been out then, i wouldn't have bought it. that said, i did buy a set and have rode 15 days on them season so far. being 47 years old, i do love the convenience of step in (i have Flow in the past). ive only been ridding for 4 years (many years on ski before that), i'd say im and intermediate rider, i dont ride park but i do some straight air. i don't ever intend to walk around with high back on, i think thats dumb. the toe strap does flop down fairly easy, epically if you stomp your board in lift line. i usually just reach down and pull them up while on lift and they are ready when i get off the lift. i made adjustment to high back on the first day and haven't touch it since, i always have a pocket tool in my coat (my friends use the tool for their bindings more than i ever have). the binding did pop out one time during a carve, and i always make sure it's double click before i head down the mountain. i think their might have been ice or snow in the locking mechanism, so even though it sounded like it click, it wasn't seated completely. since i already have them, i'll keep them for the rest of the season. i will take your advice and replace all the hardware tho, probably from my Burton Mission, lol

@@Ryy22 just the 4 screws for the disk. The screws for the strap seems fine, I would think the strap would break before the screws will, but you can replace them with toolless crews if you adjust them often. All the other hardware on the binding seems proprietary, so I won't mess with them.

@@Ryy22 i didn't take notice if the disk was flat or not when i installed them few months ago. but i did just check them when i swap out the hardware and they were flat. so even if they weren't flat before, they are flat now after being installed for so long.

I bought a whole board and binding setup for less than these cost. Blows my mind that people get these.

To summarize: If a product spends more budget on advertisement rather than quality, there is a 90% chance that it ends up being shit.

I hope this video saves someone. Your last year video about the CLEW saved me. And yeah I watched the video of ProCamp and Buckhouse and they seems to enjoy it but they are sponsored. I am getting the supermatic instead and I like that binding.

finally an honest review on the clew, now ive gotta see your step on review

I own one. Rode it for 7 days. The highback is 3cm shorter than other bindings, so for us bigger guys, it's too small. Also in real conditions, on the snow, it doesn't click in every time. Many times I had to do pretty good workout to be able to step in. It would be quicker to step in with regular bindings. And I bought them only for this reason.

I'm newly back into snowboarding and got Burton Step-Ons w/ DC boots that I'm very happy with for how ignorant I am. Then I got into more snowboarding youtubes to learn stuff and saw the Clew ones. I saw no good reviews on how they actually were. Thank you. It was fun listening to good verbal teardown. As an engineer of plastic parts, I think you did a good job of describing what the hell is happening with this design too.

Clew - the binding so bad the Avran grudgingly recommended Burton Step Ons.

I'll admit that you've rubbed me the wrong way in the past with your abrasive attitude about stuff, BUT, this video finally convinced me to subscribe to your channel. Appreciate your honest, no holds barred review. Just don't let me see you with "CLEW" on your helmet down the road!!

For anyone who wanted a true opinion, I got the clew 3 months ago and paid 600 without the 20 off. I used the clew on powder snow, ice, and park. The binding is really for the one who just wants a cruise day and doing a normal ride. Good for beginners easy to step in but will have a little struggle to step out. the spring bar at the back something stuck and sometimes only able to pull one side. The binding is very stiff and gave you all the feedback from the board. It is not friendly to setup, especially the front strap. Need a lot of the adjustments for the front. Comparing to Burton stepon, get the burton stepon if you have the money. For pro riders, i am not really advance, but hard to pop and do butter than the normal binding. carving is alright. In conclusion, if you want to do parks and carving get the normal binding. Clew still needs to improve, burton stepon is better than clew. I do not recommended. Only reason to get the clew is that you dont want to get a burton stepon boot but still want to try the lazy way to strap in strap out. It is like comparing $500 vs $700 stepon. Again, I don't recommend the clew.

So i ordered these waited a year and finally got them, i have to say i really like them, i live in Michigan and our runs are 30 seconds long, they are good for getting in and out, and i just got back from vail, i personally had no issues, but then again i am old and fat!

I always appreciate your honesty. Let’s see how well they burn on a fire pit. Wait, never mind, they aren’t worthy of a sacrifice to the snow gods.

To be honest, I've used StepOn, Nidecker Supermatic, and Clew bindings. I experienced pain points with the StepOn bindings (probably due to the StepOn boots), and I find Nidecker super hard to step into, in my opinion. Clew has its drawbacks (sometimes it's not easy to get clicked in completely), but overall, I am pretty satisfied with it.

Ur not allowed to have a positive take, I agree with Angry being they look cheap and are probably, but if they work for you it don’t matter.

I had the 1st version, which on one side was latched with 2 hooks and on the second with 1, I had to do an ollie to fasten them by force. Thanks to marketing, I sold them in 1 day on a local message board. And the same problem with the front strap as in the video

I would have stopped to say hi at Copper, but after seeing the hibacks on your feet, I couldn't stop laughing. The shit you go through for us is incredible! Thanks for taking one for the team Avran!

funny that this vid popped up for me. I've been riding the clews for a couple weeks now and I wouldn't recommend them to anybody. At 46 years old I decided I was done with strapping in. I've used the supermatics, step ons, and Clew. I resold the supermatics and I'm about to see how much I can get back for the clews. Step ons will be by go-to. I won't bother with an explanation as to why I didn't like the clew. Angry covered it well. I'll never online shop after a three drink night ever again. The price of the clew is outrageous.
