It's not outdated! Far from it. This bike is a classic. & will getting my new zx-14r with pride and appreciation. Also thank U Kawasaki for keeping the zx-14r going for 2023. Analog or computer they both tell you speed so what's the difference? You don't need something updated that's going too tell the same thing they same way! & I hate cruise control & traction control! If you can ride a bike we'll, you don't need those stupid things. What happened to when bikes were bikes you have so much stuff controlling the motorcycle you're not even riding the bike anymore and that takes away the fun of riding the bike. To hell with quick shifter control. I can quick shift myself.

You have such an ignorant viewpoint. Saying things like "I hate cruise control" just makes you sound like a moron, to be blunt. You realize that you don't HAVE to use the CC function? You realize that some people like that feature if they're going to be doing a lot of highway miles? CC helps with mental fatigue when you're doing 600+ mile days on a week long road trip. Understand that since we're not all custom ordering bespoke products, products will have to include features that you may like and dislike. But there are solutions that can make both parties happy, like a disable function or simply not using the functionality. The world doesn't revolve around you. Modern safety systems (which nearly every bike lets you disable) perform better than you. When's the last time you devoted a weekend to working on riding fundamentals? Be honest with yourself and keep your mind open.

ZX14R every day please. I've owned three 'Busa's. 2 Gen 2's and a Gen 1. You need to live with with one of these bikes before you make a final judgement. Just picked up a late model ZX14R . It's smoother, more comfortable and has better power, not to mention a lot more of it. I won't buy another Suzuki again. Just saying....

Just to clarify some of the points made in the comments and the review. The ZX14R is no longer sold in most of the world because it will no longer pass the Euro Emissions. For this reason alone it is not worth Kawasaki adding the items some people are calling for, Quick Shifter, cruise control etc. For the Busa to pass the latest emissions testing Suzuki ended up making it slower than the Gen 1 and Gen 2 Busa's. The ZX14R, in standard configuration is faster in all areas than all the Busa's, although at those speeds it is largely academic. For owners such as myself, the lack of digital instruments and the latest Hi-Tec is one of the reason I purchased the 14R . The clutch and gearbox are sweet and using them correctly is all part of the fun of riding so I struggle to understand why people call for quick shifters. As for the other electronics, well, each to their own but I see no need. ( Who the hell needs 10 power modes). Just because it has become fashionable to fill bikes with gimmicks no one needs, does not make it the right way to go. I see Moto Jitsu says he would take the Busa over the 14R 10 times out of ten. Well thats his opinion but I hope, if he does, he never goes out riding with ZX14R's on his Busa or he might be very embarrassed.

I think this is more of a "throw-back" old-school type of bike. For older riders that may have ridden the "fastest thing on earth" years back all hunched over with low handlebars and high pegs and brutal ergonomics - who now want a more comfortable riding position with a broader powerband and don't really care if it's got a "quick shifter" or "cruise control" because it wasn't too many years back those things didn't exist on any bikes. So again the demographic of this type of rider won't feel something is "missing" from this bike. Myself included ;) Like you say - it's still got that "instant smile" factor just because it picks up speed so damn fast from just about anywhere in the RPM range. And that's enough nostalgia for older riders to pick this bike over the most super-high-tech canyon-carving litre bike, with a million bells and whistles and a digital screen. Give me the ole analog tach and speedo any day!

Same here! Bought mine 2023 last november. Now with just 200 miles lol Yoshis slip ons are my only mods also a puig windshield. Super happy with my zx14 no regrets. Driver seat is giant could be slighty smaller . Brembos are awesome. There is a small lag with second gear at lower rpm, beside that all other gears are ok. It's riding position is absolutely amazing but consider it more as a big sport bike than a sport tourer. I don't see myself riding a longer trip with it than some 2-3 hours. Matte finish is gourgeous at sunlight but not easy to care. MPG is great. Wish kawasaki could have updated the instruments but it is what it is. I use to drive a brand new ZX11 during the 90's my first kawa and I cannot complaint about it's quality. Let's dream about a supercharged ZX14 someday...

The ZX-14R was always the better bike between it and the Busa. However the recent Busa updates to gen 3 definitely give it an edge over the ZX-14R with all the new tech. If Kawasaki was to give the ZX-14R the same treatment and update it, it would once again reign over the Hayabusa. It seems they are reluctant to do it though, preferring to go all in on the Ninja H2 SX. A shame, as I would prefer the bigger naturally aspirated engine of the ZX-14R over the super charged engine of the H2 SX.

Im tall and a big man, the zzr1400 is great for speed and better for touring, at 6.2 I felt cramped on the Busa, all though its not impossible to ride, it would be a great substitute to the zzr1400. I did also make adjustments to my bike for better comfort, they're not the best at going around sharp tight corners, they're amazing on the straights, they're also exceptionally fast. It is a beast. @Eli The Great Hi, as per 2023, the hayabusa owners' manual to change engine oil and filter: 1. Place motorcycle on the side stand. 2. Remove oil filler cap. 3. Remove the drain plug and gasket from the bottom of the engine and drain the engine oil into a pan. Remove the fastener. Removecthe under center cowling. Remove the bolt and screw. Unhook the hooks and remove the right-hander cowling. Turn the oil filter clockwise and remove. The zx14, according to experts, is harder to change sparkplug on and do substantial engine work on. See more mafia video comparison of the two bikes. Removing the lower minor cowling to get to the filter is not difficult.

@@blackspades0000 Who the fuck mentioned Spark plugs 😂??? Heck, you can keep those in for 90-100k miles , most people don’t even keep a bike that long, but oil you change every 3.5k miles, or sooner, so who wants to fuck with all those bullshit Hayabusa panels/pins that soon., Even the Air filter on the ZX is easier to get to.

I started riding way back in the early seventies. No bike handled that great so we learned to ride around the shortcomings. So as bikes got better I was way ahead of the game. I can ride just about any bike fairly quickly. I was a sales then general manager of multi brand dealership my entire career. I would love to have everything on every bike but unfortunately that rarely happens.

The way you talk of how the ZX14R feels, just makes me remember the feel of my CBR 1100 XX... Of course Hayabusa and ZX14R are faster and have even more torque, but the feeling of a heavy bike, very stable at high speeds, that still moves and has that torque to push you forward with no problems... Damn, I have to get my baby XX on the road again! XD

I'm convinced. Got my '23 last month on the 22nd. It's a bargain. Cruise control is a $10 cramp buster and custom steering is made easy with $40 bar risers. Feather light clutchless foot shifting negates a one more thing to worry about speed shifter and the mra touring screen tops it off for the best value in class. It's the penultimate year as the 14r will only be available as a 40th limited edition in 2024. As a result the 2023 is the last bargain bike of this generation. As the successor to the 12r, the 14r will always be a milestone in the speed wars as a powerful, yet comfortable, ICBM.

Its not crazy that the ZX14R does not have all the bells and whistles, the bike errrrr was slated to be phased out by the H2sx series but so far that has not happened, Infact the 14R’s according to my kawi dealer thats actually a good one for once said the 14’s still sell as fast as they can get them, so with that said i do wish kawi would do comparable updates to the 14 as the busa has, i might add i have a 21 Ninja 1000sx & a 22 zx14 & the 1ksx does have the TFT screen, up/down QS, & cruise, no reason the 14 should not have all of this.

Interesting how different we are. I've had the new Hayabusa and never used the cruise control. My current bike also has cruise control and quick shifter and I rarely ever use it. Quickshifter I use under faster acceleration but cruise control I have activated once or twice, I have zero need for one. Also used to have a zx14r and want one again so bad. They are very hard to come by where I live. I check the sales sites every day.

Just recently discovered and subscribed to your channel and am really enjoying your videos. With the few purpose driven mods I did to my 2017 ZX14R (I bought new and did the mods about a year in) it is now almost the perfect bike for me. You mentioned you would like to take one of these out for a week. I wish you could get out on one like mine to see what this bike really has to offer. When I first bought it I had buyer's remorse because of the lackluster performance in the mid-range. It turns out the Kawasaki engineers are fantastic, but the politicians and lawyers are the problem. I've had more than one service technician confirm the ZX14R has one of the most neutered low and mid-range ECUs of any stock bike. That defeats one of the main purposes of a big bore 1441 cc sport bike. Ivan's ECU flash (ivansperformanceproducts) changed all that. It's hard to describe how impeccable the throttle response is now. It's perfect. So incredibly smooth and predictable (not snatchy) but POWERFUL EVERYWHERE in the rev range in every gear. Night and day better than stock from the first second of the first post ECU flash ride. 4K to 6K~7K roll-ons in 3rd and 4th gear are so satisfying and addicting now compared to the utterly crushing disappointment from the stock ECU. Everything beyond 6K is fantastic too, but the "real world everyday tach range" performance has me smiling from ear to ear on every ride. Ivan says almost any turner can create a top-end high performance tune, but he prides himself on also delivering on the high expectations of the street rider who demands perfection everywhere on the tach. He delivered for me, and I couldn't be happier (I'm not associated with him in any way and make no money by saying this - just like you said about your bike reviews). I also replaced the stock headers with Akrapovic headers and those ugly bazooka stock cans with Two Brothers Exhaust (and the DB killers to be considerate of my neighbors) to really experience the bike the Kawasaki engineers designed. For comfort I also put on 1:25" Blackpath bar risers that made a big difference (skipped the silver caps - I like the natural look better). Replaced the stock shield with the MRA version the "sport performance edition" in the UK came with through 2022. Another very effective change was replacing the tires with Michelin Road 5s (will go with the new Road 6 when the road 5s wear out). Huge, HUGE difference in handling. Stock tires were very sluggish. The road 5s are so much better at turn-ins and overall performance in all riding conditions. These mods turned my ZX14R into a bike I would never consider selling. Yes, it still doesn't have a quick shifter or cruise control and I'll admit those would be nice and compared to the stock 14R I would go for the Gen 3 Hayabusa too. Not a chance though with my purpose modded 14R. Some people might trust aftermarket quick shifters for the 14R, but not me. That means there is one thing I'll never get to experience. Ivan's ECU flash has made this thing so powerful I can't shift between 1st and 2nd at full throttle at the peak of the power curve. The bike would be accelerating so hard there is no way I could hold on to the left handlebar with just my thumb as I opened my fingers to grab the clutch (no way I'm trying a clutchless shift at full power between 1st and 2nd - not worth risking damage to this great bike). Darn, that's a problem I'll just have to live with on this now fantastic bike!!

The 14 is more comfortable and powerful than the busa. The 14 was the most fun with torque I ever had. The rear seat cover comes off with screws and your seat is under it. But I had 0 room for more than a wallet. That was a disappointment for me, seeing how big it looks. Also the 14 in stock form actually feels slow compared to a full exhaust and tune. Then it stands up taking off from lights with just throttle. Good reviews. Like the content.

The zx14 does not need high tech gadgets. Analog is classic and if you need a quick shifter, you need to go relearn how to ride a bike. Cruise control I can understand for cross country tours but 10 power modes?…why?…electronic TFT displays?…why?….the least high tech something is, the easier it is to work on. If it isn’t broken, don’t fix it.
