I'm so happy for him.Its heart breaking to see how upset he gets over school.Anxiety is so bad for him.Great Call pulling him out.He will be so much happier most likely go back to his normal sweet loving self.🥰❤️

I’m thrilled for Nicky! I hope this alleviates so much stress for him… and I hope you and all his team have a stress free transition this transitional period. It’s difficult with two working parents but I applaud you John for just deciding we are doing that- that’s THAT! Wondering if the town or island has some special needs homeschool activities. There are definitely homeschool children activities that even may be wonderful for him. Trips to zoos, parks, etc. my Matthew who turns 18 3/24 may have some time to meet Nicky to run around with a soccer ball of field in AVille had they been desirable for your family for some peer to peer interaction solely on a fun level with no expectations attached. ! Best of luck. Seems like Asa has adjusted well.

Day by day John. Day by day. I’m going to school again for the first time in 20 years. I’m taking it day by day. Nicky is going to be great. I know it. He has an amazing support system. I’m honestly proud of all of you. You, Shannon, Sam, Johnny, all amazing people. You got this John. It’s gonna be a difficult transition I’m sure, but I believe in y’all. Thinking of you as you make big decisions! Double check with your broker, because I thought that increase in budget didn’t happen until the child was 21. Even if he is out of school. Maybe your broker knows a loophole, but I would want to be sure before you made any plans. Hopefully Nick’s SSI will kick in so that will help. Happy early birthday to Nick, and thank you for encouraging us all on your journey, even on the hard days.

Thanks Laura. Even if the budget doesn't kick in, he's done going anywhere that causes him so much anxiety. I don't know how we'll handle it if the money isn't available, but we'll figure it out. We always do. Have a great day.

I will be interested to see what plans you come up with. Hopefully there is someone who can come in and do some lifeskills, homeschool kind of thing. Our kiddos can attend school until 22. Hopefully there are some young adult groups he can go on outings with, with their support people of course and maybe some kind of vocational training program. Good luck navigating this stuff

I seriously hope it's more than the gathering Autism people are doing for their daughter. They took her out of her school and tried a homeschool teacher which didn't work out and have not found a replacement. Kids need to be around other kids and need the skills to learn and take direction from other adults. Just my two cents.

Hello there, I'm going to talk about that more today. Sam introduced the technology for the 1st time yesterday.

Would it help him if you took him into school to say goodbye, Then have a small graduation party for him praising him for doing such a great job at schhol. He is an adult now and adults dont go to school. Even skip the goodbyes and just have the party. Everyone needs some kind of closure. Buy a brand new calendar, Remove old memories and start new adult memories. A reset

I won't lie, that was kind of sudden but in my experience when behavior turns south this quickly the reaction has to swift. If it were to continue to degrade then in the lack of oversight by the county department of education then the school administration would likely have made the decision for you - along with other unpleasantness. It's better that you made this decision.
