Awesome too see Nicky happy again. My heart breaks for him when he is having a difficult day. As I am sure it does for all of you as well.

He's happy most of the time but we had a tough one yesterday.
Have your own graduation in your home. Show him your other son's graduation picture, Do not take him back to school. Have a ceremony in your home, Make it minutes long just to give him a poster that says, no more school. Then have cake! Call it a no more school party. Tell him he is going to work now at his morning meeting. He is grown up now and this is what grown ups do.

Love this! I was hoping there was such thing as a homeschool diploma that says Graduation in Life Skills and Social Skills. But we may need to come up with that on our own.

I too was wondering the same thing❤
You could have a small graduation at home with family and friends to mark the end of his high school education. He should celebrate this accomplishment. It would no little or no anxiety for Nicky. You are all so proud of him.❤🎉❤
Perhaps rather than a celebration of the end to the ‘school’ chapter, an event acknowledging the new chapter. You’re all wonderful and add great value to our community ❤️

After your last video with Nick constantly talking about no school, I too, thought he was not understanding that school is done. Do you think a “graduation ceremony” of some sort would help with that confusion? Agree with mom’s idea about collecting all his belongings from school. Love this family and I have learned so much about the special needs of special people. My neighbors 4 year old has just been evaluated for autism, so this is all so helpful for me.
Letting him say goodbye and throwing some school stuff away would be a good idea I think. ❤️

That the best part.
Remember during COVID. He was off school for a while too, and he eventually went back, and he doesn't forget things. I think if you bring him there for graduation it might make him think he is going back

Keep up the good work everyone ✌🏾 I’m sure Nick will understand being done with school on his own time. If you do a home “graduation” it could be as simple as a cap, custom grad t-shirt (maybe with Scooby Doo or Remy) and a certificate that says “no more school for Nicky Savoca.” Hope you’re enjoying the gradually warming weather.

Thankfully it's getting a bit warmer. Thanks for being here with us.
I think it’s so sweet Nicky says “thank you” and “I’m sorry” at appropriate times. I know with severe autism, the “polite” skills can be near non-existent. It’s not their fault, and they aren’t “rude”. They just don’t really develop these things fully, but I think your whole family has done so well by him, that it feels genuine and he actually cares. Such an awesome kid 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
Rockstar Nicky I hope your stress and anxiety with going to school goes away. You never have to go back ever again. I’m so happy you like the gym.
How about throwing the backpack in the trash, and saying no more school. Schools all is over!!🎉 Love watching Sam with Nick, good stuff💗

This is a fantastic idea! I'm gonna try this today!
I disagree with all the comments on having a graduation. This will just highlight school and bring it to the forefront of his mind thus increasing his anxiety. Nicky would not benefit from a graduation and would not get any “closure” from doing so. As a mother to an autistic boy I am constantly analyzing scenarios in my head and how we should go about certain situations. I also disagree with people saying something bad happened at school. That is definitely not the case. Nicky simply did not have the right adults at school to make it enjoyable. It is the extroverted, fun, overjoyed teachers and therapist that play and give praise to my son that make him want to go to school. When school is just boring teachers demanding tasks this causes anxiety. That is why there is “play therapy” for people with autism. Anyway, I believe for Nicky the best solution is to wait it out. Everything is a phase. I truly believe he will stop saying “no school” in his own time and forget about school. Distraction is always key for us when our son obsesses over something. I would continue with Nicky’s new routine at home and simply support him during this transitional period.

When is a new volg going to be put ? And how are you all doing @Nicky tv. Is their going to be a video? Or hv stopped volging ?
As for long time no videos so was wondering what happened.
Does he still go by the school when you go to gym??? Maybe thats the issue. I really enjoy when you guys talk .
I have been watching so many repeats. What happened to NickyTV?!
Why don't yall use Johnny's cap and gown and have a party for the whole family either in your back yard or by Aunt Lisa's pool and present him with a certificate and then enjoy a party (will the school be giving him a certificate of completion)? You might even take him to get some graduation headshots and call the company where yall got Johnny's graduation invitations and get those for the party as well as a tassel for his cap
It’s like when I retired after 26 years of driving a school bus you get the same routine and you have to remind yourself over and over that I’m done forever and that’s hard no different with him. Hopefully you all can do a little something to make him understand better that it’s done it’s over I’m not sure what but you I will figure it out. Maybe get his bag of stuff and let him throw it in the trash and say no more school !! Maybe try that liquid Band-Aid or superglue to get it to stop bleeding .

@@NickyTVFamilyVlog I’m sure you all might want to get it back out just in case you want to keep it for memories I don’t know And I pray that it helps him understand better.
The at home graduation.. I mean.. again, y’all know best.. but I would really weigh in “would Nicky understand this” or would just giving it time be best..I love Shannon’s idea with his school stuff tho
You know.. I wonder if maybe, just a little, him learning the days of the week more, is kinda making him more aware that “monday” is coming.. probably not but just an idea. I would be a little apprehensive with the graduation idea, maybe seeing his school, his teachers or classmates might make him think “see I knew school wasn’t over”. But that’s just me. You know best. I think it’s just going to take time. It must be tough with his OCD deciding what words to “eliminate”. Because who knows if some “type” of place called “school” could be in his future. Y’all will roll through the punches and Nicky will be just fine .
My very unprofessional, not Nicky parent opinion….thinking grad ceremony would be for everyone but Nick… does he understand that graduation is the end of HS? Nick is amazing beyond any paper degree on earth 💜

Why not try a social story where you show Johnny's graduation? Talk to him with Johnny and have him share his own impressions on things, like about how it was the last time he went to school and that it opened up time for new things in life for him.

@@NickyTVFamilyVlog did Nicky have friends at school? If so does he miss them? How about people he at least mutually tolerated for parallel play? If there is one value in schools or group activities or even group homes for that matter it’s the opportunity for socialization and maybe even the ability to do things spontaneously. My guy misses his people from his former behavioral support school (they were NT but he could interact with them at lunch or at recess) but once he moved on there was no way to make contact. Since then we’ve struggled with his attention seeking and grieving behaviors because he actually craves the interaction - though he has trouble even keeping the happiness from bubbling over. IMO the isolation is probably only helping those around him.
you should get another camera for johnny at home also that would be neat to see
You've got to be very, very careful. And that is that Nick does not get a comorbidity of mental illness together with ASD. For when the time comes when they invent the cure for ASD, such mental illness may still persist. Some 400 genes are at play here that cause an extreme hyper-sensitivity. Prolonged exposure to such circumstances like school is a sure-shot path to mental illness for Nicky. He is trying to convey his concern about that but it lands on deaf ears. There was a study of 112 ASDs. 28% experienced what researchers deemed to be ASD-P, ASD specific psychosis. The remaining 72% were either psychosis-free (pure ASD) or ASD/SZ comorbidity. I would try to maintain the well-being of Nicky as it is now for mentioned reasons. 10 years from now, there will be some cure, hopefully.
I think the graduation would be for your benefit and not his. ❤
