As soon as I saw Richard Speight Jr.'s name in the guest credits at the start of the episode, I knew it was the Trickster. I always paid attention to the names of the actors though it's kind of nice if you don't because it spoils surprises if you see/recognize the names.

When Sam talked to the waitress he had already been through 100 Tuesdays by that point so he was referencing a death that wasn't shown onscreen. We can only assume she was doing archery and shot and killed Dean with an arrow which is why Sam told her to take lessons because she's a terrible shot, it had nothing to do with the hot sauce.

@@BriSand1993 I think we're shown ten different deaths. The bow would make eleven. Assume they didn't show Dean falling down the stairs of the motel (that one's pretty obvious). That's twelve. Eighty-eight more ways to die.

14:29 the "Dingo ate my baby" refers to Azaria Chamberlain, a 9 week old baby who was killed by a Dingo while her family was on a camping trip in 1980 in Australia but everybody believed the parents murdered her and they were falsely convicted. "Dingo ate my baby" also became a bit of an early meme as a result by people who disbelieved the story. They were both later acquitted in 1986 when Azaria's jacket was discovered and the case was reopened but many still believed they were guilty and it wasn't until 2012 that it was proven beyond doubt that Azaria was killed by a dingo. Not sure about today but I remember even in the early 2000s there were many people who still believed the parents were guilty and Dean's comment is clearly a reference to this. Also makes sense since the episode came out in 2008, 4 years before the official ruling.

Yup, they found the clothing next to a dingo den chewed and clawed up with blood streaks. I feel so bad for the parents. I wonder what happened to them. But, its also referenced in the 2008 movie tropic thunder, so its clear public opinion was divided and mixed. From my understanding by this point anericans believed it wasnt true but australians had come around to the other side. Which is why the comment in tropic thunder about it is extra funny bc hes playing an Australian, and the negative comment was by an american. By funny enough, theres another, similar story that happened here where a baby in 2007 i think was killed by a coyote. Only this time it was captured on cctv. The parents were unloading groceries in the garage, which was open, while the baby was in a car seat, and the coyote just came and stole the baby before the parents had a chance to get to the baby or coyote. Cops searched for days and later found the baby dead, torn apart. Sad as hell but didnt get any of the same attention that dingo story did. I dont even think most media covered it at all bc it was clear cut. But, personally, i think they should have just to show that canine of all kinds can do horrific things.

One of my favourite episodes. Although many regard this as a comedic episode, I don't see it that way. Sure, Dean dying all those weird deaths could be thought of as superficially funny but it certainly wasn't for Sam who had to go through the pain of seeing his brother die100 times, and then suffer for six months until he found the Trickster and got Dean back. It was such a trauma for Sam. Poor guy. :(

This was a really really good one!🙌 I think it’s pretty funny but it’s really heavy and sad at the same time. It’s what supernatural does the best - mix all the emotions all at once! I felt really sorry for Sam having to watch this happen for so long and then being left in this world without him. And it was heartbreaking to watch Sam change too.😭

He and a bunch of the guys from The Boys (you know he was in that, right?) were sitting around comparing screen deaths... more like a weirdest death contest..his entry, "do these tacos taste funny to you?" He won.

It’s a really good one, it’s so terrifying and sad but also makes you laugh - classical mix of supernatural emotions 🙈 They really can’t live without each other, and watching them have to go though that in any sense hurts so much!

This is my favorite episode of the season, so I’m so glad you enjoyed it as much as you did! My phone case is actually a little cartoon drawing of all of the ways Dean dies this episode with “It was the heat of the moment” written at the top and the alarm clock reading “Tuesday 7:30am” written at the bottom 😂 I can’t believe you’re almost at the end of the season and I can’t wait to see your reaction to what’s to come!

One of my favourite episodes of SPN a real classic amongst the fandom directed by Kim Manners who was a real hero of the genre, he also directed a few episodes of the X-Files including Monday. Easter Eggs. The place mats in the motel have little ground hogs on them, geddit? 😅 Fun fact: Towards the end of the episode Sam pulls out a shogun from the impala it’s the same one Dean built as a kid, we first saw it in Bad Day at Black Rock.

This episode truly is one of the fandoms top 5 favorite episodes of the whole series. It is so well put together and just really takes you on such an emotional roller coaster. You know it’s a good episode when you’re going “what?? It’s ending already? That flew by so fast!” ☺️

Mystery Spot is one of the best episodes of the series, it's so cleverly written and all the little details pay off. I'm impressed how quick you caught on to the Groundhog Day theming 👏, I sure didn't on first watch! I love how the Tuesday dish is called "Pig in a Poke". It's a slang expression that means buying something sight unseen, without checking it out first to avoid being scammed. I think its a subtle reference to how the Winchester bros rolled into town expecting the mystery to be one thing -a disappearance- while the Trickster was secretly "scamming them" all along! Also, tiny thing but I can't get over the movers saying "whatddya want - a Pulitzer." (mispronunced as Pewlitzer.) That's a "screenwriter inside joke" if I ever heard one. The Pulitzer prize is awarded to writers and journalists. It literally has nothing to do with fitting a desk through a door frame.

I loved this episode!! I surprised myself with how spot on I was 😂 I think maybe Dean dying out of no where with no build up made me suspicious 🙈 OOOH! I didn’t get that reference (captain America of the internet here 👋), we have a similar saying but it’s “ooh in the sack” instead. That was a neat detail, thank you for sharing. I was wondering why they were talking about a writing prize but I just thought I missed something again haha

@janematthews3394 People call that a retcon but I have my doubts since Kripke had hopes for the 5 year plan despite at times in season 3 it seeming like the series would abruptly end thanks to the writer's strike at the time (I remember how relieved those of us who were watching then were when they announced season 4 was happening). He must have envisioned the general details of what he wanted to do longterm well in advance and the revelation we get fits in perfectly with it, not to mention his powers to keep Sam in that loop are similar to something else we saw a few times after this. That's all I'll say to not divulge anything.

One of my most favorite episodes of the show. You really picked up on some things early (more than I did for sure) but still enjoyed every drop of fabulous this one had! Yes Bobby's death was an illusion, but never the less painful, you did well not needing a hankie.

Right!! It was a rollercoaster of emotions (as is most of them tbf) but it was so good! I thought that since it’s Dean he has to die from food at some point and well 😂 This season keeps delivering!! This episode seems really fun (at least until the end) but its pretty messed up all the way through. I mean Sam spent like nearly 3 months worth of reliving the same daywhich would be enough to drive someone crazy, but on top of that had to watch Dean die in every way possible, which must have done a number on him, and then in top of all that, he breaks out of the loop only for Dean to die yet again and this time stay dead for HALF A YEAR. That must have seriously messed him up

Yeah, I feel like in the beginning it’s just funny seeing him relive the stuff and also how they made it but I can’t imagine having to live though this for three months watching your brother get killed over and over again, it’s horrible 😭 I cannot even imagine how it must have felt like such a relief to break the loop only for that to happen, it’s it’s really noticeable that it messed with him 😭

I suggest you pause when you say something. I like to listen to your thoughts and guesses, but this way you can miss something important or lost a thought.

Propel have very different opinions on this, and for me I like it this way more. I edit all my videos by myself so I catch the episode again during that time and usually pick up on the details! It’s also a first time watching so I will inevitably miss things regardless 🥰 if I paused and talked it would be too hard to edit parts out for copyright and my videos would be two hours long of me talking 🙈

Great reaction, this is one of my favourite episodes in season 3. I can't believe you're nearly on the last episode, prepared to get your heart ripped out all over again. I was surprise as much as you were to see the trickster again, I mean he didn't really DIE in season 2, I had a feeling we'd see him again but not this SOON. @@CoraReacts I love Dean. So storylines that explore his character are my favourites. 9 & 10 had a focus on his development, I also love 11 for different reasons. Some seasons are stronger then others. But some people will hate on a season and then it’s someone else’s favourite. Every season has at least 1 epic episode, they are all worth the watch and I hope you make it through.

Yeah, 4, 8, 9, 10 and 14 are in my top tier seasons. I like other seasons too, but those five seasons are just really enjoyable for me. And yes, any season/episode where Dean is forefront is automatically a favorite for me.

Something I always wondered about the timeline in Mystery Spot is if Dean was in hell or the Trickster was preventing his soul from being taken. This is because in the main timeline we know Dean broke in 4 months whereas in this timeline he was dead (and said to be in hell by the Trickster, who I assume may have been lying) for 6 months. Here's what I think based on some facts---Supernatural was not renewed for its 4th season until March 4, 2008 and this episode aired on February 14, 2008 so when they shot this, they did so with the 3 year plan where Dean was going to die & remain in hell while Sam went on to fight because there was no guarantee of a 4th season where angels would be introduced. Due to the uncertainty of whether the series would continue, it makes sense why they didn't really give the details so I would say at the time, it is likely Dean was really in hell and no seals were ever going to be broken in that timeline since it is a product of its time when uncertainty of a season 4 was a very real thing. If the mainline timeline elements were to be applied to the "6 months after" Mystery Spot timeline where the angels would lay seige to hell and Castiel would pull Dean out & resurrect him, the Trickster's lesson to Sam about nothing good coming out of him & Dean sacrificing themselves for each other and its end result (which those of us who watched the series know but I won't spoil here) becomes meaningless as the futility is 100% obvious. We can see how futile it was based on Sam's actions once Dean dies on that Wednesday when compared to his activities in the main timeline as shown in I Know What You Did Last Summer, with the main difference being Ruby. The common theme though was Sam being out for revenge which also fits into the Trickster's lesson about sacrificing themselves because even though in the main timeline Sam didn't make a deal, him drinking Ruby's blood and even being taught how to tap into his inner power was like Sam sacrificing his own humanity and becomes in many ways less human himself.

A dingo is a type of canine and the joke was that they ate a baby

How can it be confusing to you. Sam without Dean is completely dangerous and is willing to go to any lengths even murder, so the Trickster doing this proves his point of view that Sam loves his brother so much he's willing to do whatever to save him even if innocent people get hurt. It's also good real life commentary that when a person dies they're gone forever and there's nothing you can do to get them back; in life there are no second chances for ordinary people they have to live with the fact their loved one is gone and just try to grieve in a healthy way and move on. That's why the Trickster's line "Yeah and like it or not, this is what life's going to be like without him" hits so hard.

What is confusing isn’t why as in we all see what Sam becomes without Dean, but a why does the trickster care to show him a lesson? I get all that you are saying but why does the trickster go to such lengths to show him this. I feel like he never said that but maybe it was supposed to be read in between the lines. It was cool and terrifying seeing it all though! And I think it was good for Sam to see it, but I’m not convinced it helped 😭

I wouldn't say he's dangerous without Dean though I would say that with Dean killed in an unnatural way where it was someone's fault, Sam is dangerous enough to go after that someone or at the very least resort to dangerous methods to at least try to bring his brother back. There is a very real danger to Sam though and that danger had to do with Azazel's blood in him and his powers. We find out in season 2 that the reason Sam did not end up like most of the other psychic kids (Max Miller, Jake & others) is because he had Dean watching over him and Dean even says this in one episode where he calls himself Sam's secret weapon. The psychic kids who went bad did so because they gave into Azazel and what he told them in their dreams or in Max Miller's case because he was in an abusive situation and he had power to do something about it but wasn't in the right mind to control that power or refrain from murdering those who wronged him with it. Dean was the one who kept Sam from exploring his powers and we know he had the ability of telekinesis too but he never delved further into it. He never gave into the power of the blood like the others did. He just used his visions, which came to him without his control or him having to activate them, to do good and help people. If Sam fully gave into the demon blood, I have no doubt he would've had all the powers exhibited by all the other psychic kids (super strength, telekinesis, power of persuasion, electric touch, etc) since every one of those others kids all got the demon blood from the same source, i.e. Azazel. Notice how it's not long after Dean is dead that Ruby took advantage of his absence and got Sam to use his powers again. Ruby even tells Sam in Lucifer Rising (which is the latest episode I see that Cora watched) that he didn't need to drink the demon blood and he had the power within him the entire time after he kills Lilith. The demon blood was her way of controlling Sam and turning him into a junkie. It did make Sam stronger in that he wasn't willing to completely give into his powers like the other psychic kids did in seasons 1 & 2 because Dean was back and with him again, so it did increase his demonic power but he could've just as easily killed Lilith without drinking another drop of demon blood. Remember, getting Sam to drinking Ruby's blood was not part of Azazel's plan, as Ruby herself was not part of it, so Azazel gave him everything he needed to break the final seal all on his own.

It’s such a strange mix of emotions for me because they use humour, but it’s actually so sad having to see Dean die so many times 😭

@@CoraReacts yeah but the sad wasn't only watching dean die cause he wasn't really diying,it was about Sam going through all this alone and about Sam ACTUALLY LIVING 6 MON WITHOUT DEAN
