I was completely shocked when Dean was torn to shreds! I was crying like a baby. It was torture waiting months for the next season when it originally aired.😭😭

I never really thought it would happen 😭 I’m so happy I only had to wait a week - that was hard enough!

First of all, you reactors are far luckier than we were watching in real time waiting for long, agonizing months for the new season! Watching this episode never gets easier. FYI: Carry On Wayward Son quickly became the SPN family's theme song. Frequently sung at the conventions. So many stories to tell regarding the song. I can sat the group Kansas were fans of the show and well into the series, appeared at Comic-Con to perform it live. That's how deeply imbedded into Supernatural culture it became. Bobby's quote: "Family don't end in blood", has become iconic and means everything to the fans. Bella and Dean cut their deals with crossroad demons whose Big Boss is Lilith, said to have been the first demon and created by Lucifer himself. Although there is usually ritual involved invoking a crossroads demon, there will be instances over the seasons that one goes rogue and seeks out "business opportunities". Apparently, Lilith has a twisted fascination with children and babies. Hold onto that thought..... SPN fans debated about Ruby and her intentions constantly, so don't feel bad.......or good, lol. You just have to wait and see. Jensen has an amazing singing voice that he did not share with his character here. I hurt watching every reactor endure this pain for the finale but it was especially difficult for such a sweet person like you. I REALLY wanted to be able to give you hugs.💔🫂 Whatever you prepare yourself for in the season opening.......you won't really be prepared. Just grab your ticket and climb in for the ride of your life! The upcoming season is truly one of the best. I am so excited for next week"s reaction.🫣

Don't you remember from the crossroads episode in season 2, that when people's time is almost up, they start having hallucinations? That's why Dean saw Sam like that. Seeing the demon's real faces is something else entirely.

So, we all know you meant Sam’s hair is getting better and better- it’s okay, we understand just a little slip up lol. And The Road So Far at the end of every season always make me cry- they’re all really well done.

Sam's hair is literally a cultural meme lol. Not just you don't worry. This was the episode that entirely changed my perspective about the show. At the time I remember thinking this is fun, exciting, but of course Dean's the main guy. No chance they don't figure out a way to save him. I remember even after he became "puppy chow" as Lilith so horrifically put it, I thought somehow Sam's demon powers would save Dean anyways. And then the last scene. Dean actually visually in hell, in a hellraiser web of infinite hooks. And Dean's cry for help even as the screen went black, I was in shock. And that's when this show went from good to unbelievably gripping. Because now you know, anything can happen. The silver lining for you is you just have to wait a week for the next season, imagine waiting months with this ending...

I remember saying the same thing. This all came so quick all of a sudden. That's why I couldn't believe it like I know they kept saying he is going to hell, but I never believed it until I saw it, and then my heart just dropped. Speechless, and I couldn't talk about it, so that bugged me because my sister didn't see the episode, and I didn't want to ruin it for her.

It really does!! It doesn’t feel real but it hurts as bad nonetheless 😭 I really couldn’t believe it would actually happen.

Your right it wasn’t supposed to be like this but due to the writers strike at the time they changed the original ending which was Dean being saved but Sam would be closer to the dark side

Damn now I’m just dying to see the next episode reaction 😂 God this show is great

When I first saw the ending of this episode, hearing Dean scream for Sam, it made me physically ill. I didn't sleep right for weeks until I could buy season 4 on DVD.

I know exactly what you mean… his screaming for help and then Sam at the end … especially the second Sam…. It still just breaks my heart to this day.

I feel you, Cora! I was this way to! I really hoped they would've stopped the deal, it made my stomach flip in a bad way but I went straight to season 4 afterwards, refusing to believe that this happened without dean being saved! But now you're going to be on one of the best seasons in supernatural!!!! I can't wait to see your reaction to some of the crazy part in season 4 episode one. While season 3 isn't my top favorite because of this episode, it did have a lot of amazing episodes! Fun fact....Jensen (Dean) with the rack thing was real, those tears were real. But it was a suit but it hurt Jensen so bad that he couldn't stop the tears. In my opinion season 4 gets even better and better as the seasons goes along! But not everyone liked the rest of them for reasons I will explain in episode 1 reaction. Great reaction!

This was a fabulous reaction! Sending you so many hugs! I was in the same shape as you after watching this episode the first time. 😭😭😭 I was so 100% certain they were going to save Dean just in time. No part of my mind thought they were going to send him to hell. So, to watch him being torn apart by the hounds, to hear his pain and fear, and listening to Sam's fear and anguish as he just had to watch it happen? Absolutely ripped my heart out. And no matter how many times I watch this episode seeing him hanging by those hooks, and hearing him call out for Sam gives me shivers and tears every time. 😩This was another instance where I was exceptionally grateful I could just click "next episode". Though, I definitely had to take some time between to recover. Like you, I had a snack, and cried lots. Lol! The next season is fabulous and I can't wait to go through it with you! S3 was fabulous! ❤

Thank you so much!🥹❤️ I need all the hugs truly, I’m still sad about this😭 I thought that it would be a close call, and that they would swoop in at the last second and he would be saved so I almost couldn’t believe it when I saw it😭 and even though I know about the hell hounds I didn’t expect it to happen like that, so fast, in such a brutal way…! I don’t think I’ll ever be able to watch this and not cry. I would have grabbed tea, a snack and instantly started the next if I would have been able to. A week was long enough to wait🥲 I’m so happy you enjoyed watching season three with me, can’t wait to experience season four with you all too!🥰

I can’t wait for the next season with the debut of a certain character who we all love very much.

Sending you a big hug! Yeah. This episode hit me really really hard when I saw it. In real time. So I didn't know what would happen afterwards. I didn't know if there would be a season 4 or not. I soon heard that there would be, so then I worried about what would come of Dean. But when I saw the end of this episode I was livid. I was cursing and yelling and actually throwing things. It's been many years since then, but I can still recall it clearly.

I really loved your reaction because I felt the same way when I watched Sam and Dean's anguish. Poor Dean being dragged off to Hell was heart-rending but so was Sam's despair at being left on his own. Although there are many great episodes to come, and many adventures for Sam and Dean, for me, the first three seasons will always have first place in my heart. Moreover, ' Carry On My Wayward Son' is the perfect song for these two wonderful, loving, codependent, yet ill-fated brothers. The next season, though it contains some great episodes, is not one of my favourites. However, I'll be curious to see your reaction at the end of it. :)

Deans death is one of TV’s hardest pills to swallow and definitely not an easy watch, actually it was the hardest to film as well lots of corn syrup and getting sticky on set. Fun facts: There was (another) writers strike that’s why there’s only 16 episodes, did you know holy water is used for baptism and purification purposes in Christian faith and has been used for exorcisms in most television and films since the late 1970’s No rest for the wicked comes from a 1988 Ozzy Osbourne album of the same name the term paraphrases a bible verse “there is no peace sayeth the lord unto the wicked. This episode takes place on May 1st and 2nd Sam’s 25th Birthday is May 2nd 2008.

Back in the day when this was on air this season was during the 2007 writer's strike. And that's why this season was so short. After this episode ended we didn't even know if there would be a season 4 and Dean dying might have been the final episode.

Yeah this really messed up fans for months until the next season. The brothers going on one desperate run to save Dean from eternal damnation. Bobby making sure he’s there for his boys in their next to impossible mission. Lot of stuff set up for next season Sam is immune to Lilith’s powers and Dean trapped in Hell. On to season 4 its a game changer.

IMO, the first three seasons are the prologue. The Story begins with season four.

Oh, next season is gooood!

Well, I´m glad that´s over. I didn´t want to watch your reaction to this one, I kept postponing it, and I always skip it on my rewatches. Not because it´s bad, but because it´s on my top 3 hardest episodes to watch of the whole series. I can´t remember my first reaction to it, but I´m pretty sure it didn´t affect me as much as it does now, and I guess it´s because these characters mean so much more to me after knowing them for over a decade. I´m happy for you (and for me) that now we get into season 4, which is one of my favourites! This show keeps getting better and better. 💕💕💕

We're finally here, season 4!! One of my absolute favorite seasons. I enjoy seasons 1-3, but to me this is where the show really takes off. You'll see this and then that, and then this and that. Wow, I know that's too much information, but it really is a great season, in my opinion.

They probably would have spent more time on the finale if they didn't have a writers strike going on. Supernatural makes everybody cry Let's take the edge off that hell hound scene..9 hours, with plumbing in his clothes..cold, wet and sticky to get that scene, this blood recipe was a lot of sugar/syrup, and a guy off camera was armed with a big syringe like thing to pump it in. It didn't help that Jared was trying to make him laugh For the end of season 3, you get a treat. The mark of a good singer is that he can sing badly when the part calls for it. The weirdness with Sam's face was Dean hallucinating it happened in Crossroad Blues in season 2 and about Lilith not being able to kill Sam might be connected to him being immune to the demonic virus in Croatian season 2 episode 9😎

The short season I think was definitely a problem for the arc of the season, but yeah this ending came as a surprise to me but then again it kind of had to happen that way too. It was a long summer waiting for season 4, bring it on!!

i might be wrong and others can correct me if i'am but you can only make deals with red eyed demons only, ruby cant do deals, theres clearly power rankings with some of these eye colors, every demon feared the yellow eye demon and we saw how powerful the white eye demon is.

So, in Christian, Catholic, Satanism, "Lore" Lilith is Lucifer's first child "demon" that's why she has so much influence, different eye color, can kick another demon (Ruby) out of her host.
