You cannot go wrong with Jeff Lynn and ELO. They have more songs that can get stuck in your head than almost anyone else. My favorite of theirs is "Turn to Stone", but you also have "All Over the World", "Don't Bring Me Down", "Mr. Blue Sky", "Can't Get You Out of My Head", and so many more.

The original was from 1976 & the late Kelly Groucutt did the male backing vocals for their songs. The only other member of ELO that Lynne uses is the keyboard player Richard Tandy-as he fell out with the others in the 1980's/early 1990's & some are deceased, everybody else are session musicians.

The studio version of Livin' Thing by The Electric Light Orchestra had additional female backing vocals by Michigan pop band The Pleasure Seekers. Patti Quattro has uncredited backing vocals for the "higher and higher" part. Typically Jeff does lead and backing vocals with Kelly Groucutt the bassist and Bev Bevan the drummer also providing backing vocals I do believe. 😊

Jeff Lyn was on the BBC Radio 2 Chris Evens Radio show a few years ago and was asked if he would ever consider reforming ELO. Jeff said it would only happen if it was economically viable and would need at least 5000 ticket sales. After 10 minutes 100,000 people said they would buy tickets and at the end of the radio show well over 500,000 said they would buy tickets. Jeff was almost in tears as he didn't understand how much people loved him and ELO.

started following ELO in 71, after Jeff took over from Roy Wood, who had 2 other bands, Wizard & The Move and his genius made them what became a super group in the 70s and 80s, a lot of their songs were done in collaboration with George Harrison of the Beatles with who Jeff Lynn lived with for some time, that's why George's son plays often with ELO and opens concerts with his own band. Still great and saw them twice when they played here in Toronto 2019 2020

A Great Album Project that Jeff Lynne was part of & arguably the Greatest "Super Group" of all time "The Traveling Wilbury's " which Featured Jeff with his friend , George Harrison of The Beatles , Bob Dylan , the Legendary Roy Orbison ( His song "Not Alone Anymore" being the albums highlight for me ) and "The kid" of the band Tom Petty . The album is a gem from start to finish & the video that the 4 remaining members did as a tribute to their sadly departed member , Roy , "End of the Line" brings a tear to the eye every time .

ELO is a brilliant band led by Jeff Lynn. They are a great band to explore. They have A LOT of hidden gems in their catalogue. Their first album release was in 1971. "Livin' Thing" is off of their 6th album "A New World Record" (1976).

Jeff Lynn said in an interview that despite it being Electric Light Orchestra, it was the first time they had played live with a full orchestra, it was mind blowing

That concert was televised, you might be able to download it. The other numbers are amazing too, and as for the light show……

This song was originally released in 1976. What you hear the male back-up singer doing was in the original - nothing has really changed. I know pretty much every song they've done and this and Don't Bring Me Down were the first two I remember hearing. However, if you want to carry on with more E.L.O., might I suggest 'Mr. Blue Sky', 'The Diary of Horace Wimp', 'Calling America', 'Telephone Line', 'Rockaria', 'All Over The World' and 'Wild West Hero'. Here's some trivia for you... E.L.O. - as you know - stands for Electric Light Orchestra. A lot of people will say that their name is "Electric Light" Orchestra... Wrong! While they are, indeed, an orchestra, they are a Light Orchestra powered by electricity, therefore an "Electric" Light Orchestra.
