Thai Airways Thai Smile WE120 Bangkok to Chiang Mai on an Airbus A320-200

This is a video of me flying on a Thai Smile flight from Bangkok to Chiang Mai for my holiday back in October 2022. For your information, Thai Smile is a regional airline of Thai Airways International.
I arrived at the Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport early in the afternoon and followed the signs to transfer to my next domestic flight. I quickly cleared Thai immigration at the transfer point and walked through a shopping area to a Royal Silk Lounge. Since I was travelling with a relative who is a Star Alliance Gold member (i.e. KrisFlyer Elite Gold), I was able to follow her into the lounge, where I enjoyed quite a bit of northern Thai food. I must have spent more time in the lounge than on the plane!
We took a shuttle bus to the plane after the usual security check. The plane is your typical narrow body aircraft, an Airbus A320-200. I sat down in a window seat and waited for the plane to fill up completely before it taxied to the runway and took off into the night.
A snack was served shortly after take off and came in a fancy paper take away bag, so you may take it away and eat it later if you wish. It was a sweet minced pork sandwich. The flight was only a little over an hour long, so it was not long before we landed at Chiang Mai, where I was able to bypass passport control and collect my baggage straight away.
I connected to the free Wifi in the Arrival Hall and booked a ride to my hotel using an app called Grab. The car arrived within 5 minutes and it took us around 25 minutes to reach our hotel, the DusitD2 Chiang Mai.
A night market called the Kalare Night Bazaar is right outside the hotel, so we went out for a quick look and found the Kalare Food and Shopping Center, which has a massive food court. Who could have thought my first meal in Chiang Mai would be at a night market? I had some papaya salad and barbecued pork and meatball skewers for a total of 130 Baht, before heading back to the hotel to freshen up and have a nice sleep.

@@johnhorton5022 Ah, I remembered you mainly liked to visit the Philippines. Just wondering, what types of things do you mainly look forward to enjoy when you fly to Southeast Asia?

@@kylohk I've got family in the Philippines. But I want to sample so much more of South East Asia. I love the cultures, sights, climate, food so many things. Been to Singapore and also Japan further north, but Malaysia and Vietnam are definitely on my list as well as Thailand

@@johnhorton5022 Then Chiang Mai is definitely a place you must visit as it will be more about experiencing the culture - Northern Thai culture is quite different to what you would normally expect in Bangkok. There is a temple high up in the hills (Doi Suthep) with a good view of the city. Many tours also give you the opportunity to visit villages of certain Hill Tribes unique to that part of Thailand. You also get to get close to nature - The Doi Inthanon National Park is home to some epic waterfalls and the highest point in Thailand. There are also a pair of temples honouring the 60th birthdays of the previous Thai King and Queen on top of one of the hills. Also, Northern Thai cuisine is different to the food you are used to eating at Thai restaurants, so it will be a good idea to eat your fill if you manage to get there!

This was really helpful as we are doing the same flight in a month. Was your BKK-CNX flight on the same ticket as LHR-BKK or did you book the flights separately? We will arrive from an international flight and are trying to understand if we can use the transfer desk or need to go to the proper check-in desk. Thank you!
