Thai Airways London to Bangkok in Economy Class on Flight TG917 - Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner

This is a video of me flying on a Thai Airways flight in Economy Class from London Heathrow Airport to the Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport, on my way to somewhere deeper inside Thailand. I went on a holiday for a week in mid October 2022, just before the half term break. As a result, Heathrow Terminal 2 was rather quiet when I arrived in the evening, and I checked in in no time. Security checks were much faster as there was no long queue stretching all the way back to the entrance of the terminal.
I travelled with a relative who is a KrisFlyer Elite Gold (i.e Star Alliance Gold) member, so I was able to accompany her to the SilverKris Lounge. I took the opportunity to have a buffet dinner before boarding the plane.
After boarding the plane, I swapped my seat with the passenger in front of me so she may sit with her friend. She was quite ecstatic when I agreed! The window was obscured by condensation as the plane taxied out for take off, but at least it cleared up in time just before the plane took off, not that there was much to see on the right side of the plane.
Dinner was served shortly after take off. I had some chicken curry with rice which tasted fine for a meal in Economy Class and finished off with some lemon tea. I kept an eye on the route taken by the plane on the flight map: During peacetime, we would fly over both Ukraine and Russia on the way to Bangkok. However, this is not the best thing to do with a war going on! As a result, the plane took a southerly route to bypass those countries. Once I was sure we have avoided the war zone, I closed my eyes and slept for nearly 4 hours.
It was nice and sunny outside when I woke up. I had the typical English breakfast consisting of scrambled eggs and sausage. The good thing is that green tea is available upon request.
We landed at the Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport in a bright sunny afternoon. I was able to have a good look at the new Satellite Terminal of the airport, which will be opened once demand for air travel recovers enough around the world. When I left the plane, I followed the signs to the transfer point for people changing flights to other parts of Thailand. Where do you think I am going in Thailand? Please stay tuned to find out!

@@ozbolli However, there is still an advantage in flying with Thai Airways if you are heading to a different part of Thailand besides Bangkoks, as you can see at the end of the video.

Thai Airways have now changed the plane from a Boeing 787-8 to a Boeing 777-300ER (afternoon flight). I'm guessing this is due to the uptick in passengers. Also, it was amusing you stayed awake to make sure you avoided Ukraine and Russia before you could sleep easy. Personally, I can never sleep on a plane unless I'm lying horizontal.

I usually start sleeping around 4 hours into such long haul flights regardless. There is a reason why I comment about the flight being diverted around Russia and Ukraine, to see how many comments I will draw from it!

@@ZHD1987E Good spot! I reread the description and saw I had typed "deeper inside Thailand". I guess that must have given the game away. I better use even more vague wording if I want to make it harder for viewers to guess my destination if were to make more videos like this in the future, hoho.
