Great review David and the team. China Southern offer some very good business class fares from Australia and I am often keen to see what they are like in the air. Some flights from Australia do have a long stop-over on the way which is probably why they are lot cheaper than other carriers. Flight looked great and the food looked just ok. By the way there is much debate about eating scones with jam and cream In some parts of the UK they put the jam on first and then the cream....in other parts the reverse!! In Australia we just put whatever comes around the table first and then gulp it down!! Really enjoyed the review and the camera work. Not sure though about the 2 x 2 config on a night flight. Would rather NOT have to climb over someone to get the aisle!!

My aviation channel is still small but I dream of achieving what you have here. Your trip reports are elegant, well documented, decent camera equipment, detailed throughout, and you always leave me with the inspiration to keep flying.

I remember watching you from the very beginning! Man very nice vids or shall I say OUTSTANDING VIDS!! I subbed and hit that bell!! No one will be able to beat you in flight reports!! How was the flight?

I’ve rode the China Southern 787 from Vancouver to Guangzhou (economy), it was a pretty good experience and the legroom was surprisingly big (I am a short person but was still amazed). Pretty comfortable seating and good IFE, the food could have been better, but it was economy so I didn’t expect a 5 star meal.

I might have a the diecast plane, my diecast china southern airways 787-8 is always the livery is same, nice video :)

I lived in China for several years. I only remember doing one international flight with China southern. A short one hour hop from the Mainland to Hong Kong (still considered an international flight). But flew domestically with them a handful of times. I never had any issues. Maybe not the absolute best airline in mainland China but certainly not the worst.

Nice report, so much food!

Great report, China Southern looks interesting, although the Beef Tenderloin looked somewhat tough as you were cutting it. Personally I generally keep with the Asian selection when flying the Asian airlines they always seem the best option. On a personal not I personally do Jam before cream on Scones seems the logical way to go.

When you see it in a 20min video it seems like a lot. But keep in mind this is a ~12h flight. So the food eaten on board is equal to the food one might eat on the ground between 9am and 9pm. :)

Nice review. The seat reminds me of Emirates' business class seat on the Boeing 777 which is very similar but more 'luxurious' I guess you could say. I'd like to try this product when I next visit Guangzhou so this was an interesting insight into what it is like

Very nice! I flew on them from New York - Manila via Guangzhou. 14 hour flight on a 777-300 and a 4 hour flight on a MAX 8. 3:14 makes me remember walking past the coffee shop on the left. And you can’t forget that annoying announcement voice lol

I have taken the China Southern Airline went to beijing with my family member when l was a kid.I like the China Southern Airlines

The purple carpet on the aircraft fits perfectly to their entire design with the lotus petal. Uhh I'm a huge fan of the asian hospitality. The traditional chinese flute music sounds very relaxing.

if you are in a window seat, how do you get the the isle to go to the toilet if the person next to you is laying down?

Great video, their 787-8 aircrafts are being refurbished, brand new seats in both classes. The configuration of business class will be 1-2-1, exactly the same as their brand new a330s and 787-9s. Looking forward to see you guys to try that.

Very good trip report. Can you mention in your future vlogs what was the cruising altitude?

My portrait was taken on this flight :D This is the flight I took for 7-8 times but as a student I could only afford economy. However if you pay 600yuan for a emergency exit seat (42ABC or HJK but not DEG) the leg room will be truely massive, not to mention the free aisle access no matter you seat in the middle or a window seat

Bennet Fan I’m Chinese, have flown with both of them. According personal experience, I think CZ can be compared with HU, whatever food or service, HU is 5-star, but CZ is best one in the group of 4-star, I guess that caused by such enormous scale of CZ, which is hard to unify the standard on their numerous planes.

I agree with you in what you said about super fancy food.

I am very dissapointed in the China Southern service.. the food was good but the cabin is very old.. a lot of Airlines have switched to a more modern Business class.. while China Southern is still the same.. very dissapointing.. Good Tripreport David as always :D
