    Tim, look at you being cordial! I think he’s missing the point of the push. As with everything you have to go through tons of advice to find what works for you. With the push you get tons of SOLID information, BUT, you need to do due diligence and find what works for you. No two people are the same! The push is awesome.

    The thing about string walking ( or what push archery calls fixed crawl) is you have to already be accurate in order for it to have any benefit for you. Your arrows have to already be spined right for that, and you need the right kind of bow. Which is usually a 64+ inch bow that is designed for string walking. They say you can do it with "any traditional bow" but from my experience, the short bows are horrible for string walking.

  • @leifhoklin2681

    @leifhoklin2681

    I disagree. Shooting via string walking out fixed crawl allows you to aim with for less guess work. If you’re struggling with gap shooting or instinctive techniques, you’d be surprised how quickly you get consistently accurate with string walking.

    I have found even a 60 inch recurve can be cumbersome in most ground blinds. 52 is suitable. Something I have noticed about a shorter bow. I chronographed my 60 inch Bear Super Kodiak at 45 pounds and my 52 inch Kodiak Magnum at 40 pounds, and they both shoot the same weight arrow at almost the same velocity. The Super Kodiak has a taller brace height, thus shorter power stroke, and I think the shorter bow stacks more weight on more quickly, earlier in the draw. Peter Juulsgaard, Denmark, Tales from the Willows, said the limbs on the longer bow are heavier and recover more slowly. Could be a combination of all the above. Lighter bows definitely more finicky on release. I like lighter bows, even down to 35 lbs, because I can hold them at full draw like a compound, for at least 10 seconds, without shaking, a huge advantage in certain hunting situations, especially ground hunting where you have to do an approach draw, where the deer's vision is blocked before it moves into your shooting lane.

    I’ve watched a few Push videos. I don’t dislike them at all. They have a different method on how to shoot a bow. When I started shooting I followed the famous archers of old used their techniques. In doing so over time I recked my shoulder. I wish to God I would have had Tom SR’s instruction back then. Back then I would have paid $200 for instruction that would protect my shoulder. If I’m ever able to shoot the bow again I’ll use Tom’s method for drawing the bow. Traditional or not.

    I am just good at shooting my equipment because I have always naturally known what I am doing. I do know that I suck at teaching, because when people ask how I made the shot, I don't have an answer. Too often I just say I knew I could make it and I have no idea why someone else can't. Good luck teaching people.

    To me the Push method is too complicated for me as well as the gap method. Each has to find their own. Fred Bear said that the reason he shoots a 65 pound pull bow is because it gives him the best loose or release. He doesn’t have to think about. Low poundage bows takes more discipline & good shooting form to be consistent. Keep shooting heavy bows.

    I enjoy your content, I also enjoy the stuff put out by the guys over at The Push. For the way I am proportioned the form taught in the solid archery mechanics works. My significant other however physically cannot do some of the movements so she has to shoot differently. As for the appeal of traditional gear being lighter I don't really get that. For me the appeal is that it's easier to have a bow for my draw length (a bit over 32.5 inches) than it is with a compound.

    I loved Push a few years ago. Listened to there podcasts too. I'm still subbed, though I rarely watch anything. It started, or so it seemed, like any other archery social media. Persons sharing their passions and insights to help others. Then it became incredibly commercial. Worse yet, their approach was advertised as the ONLY approach. That removed the entertainment value for me and their free content is strictly self advertising now. I'd pay for a live coaching even, but I'm not going to pay for online videos. There are great archery instruction videos out there. Some of my faves are Jake Kaminski, NUSensei, Rogue Archery, and Online Archery Academy. I think many archery social media outlets respect different approaches. I've found that the Push has fallen short of that in recent years. Selling their brand as a cure all, like this years new sight for a compound bow is going to immediately make you more accurate without practice, just to be fixed with next years model. In short, I suggest referencing multiple sources, practice a lot with different ways and do what works best for you.

    How exactly does a limb mounting system take the archer out of archery. Does it magically make you shoot better than a take down style mounting system? It doesn't. All ilf allows you to do is simply set the tiller to your shooting preference wether it be 3 under or split.

But the reason why I watch your channel Tex is because you are one of the few, in the world, who shoots a heavy draw bow today. The Push guys can tear up a 3D course, but if they were faced to face with a Grizzly, I think they would be at a disadvantage with their 40 to 50lbs bows. Most of us heavy bow archers probably wont be in a situation like this in our life time, but we are ready for the unknown when walking out into the woods, with a heavy weight bow in hand. I would love to see the Push guys just draw back one of your bows. We have to cancel this episode of the Push, due to dislocated shoulders. lol
