Texas inmate escapes by stabbing prison bus driver | NewsNation Prime

Texas authorities are searching for a man who escaped prison after stabbing a transport bus driver in a rural county between Houston and Dallas.
Gonzalo Lopez, 46, was serving a life sentence after being convicted in the 2005 slaying of another man along the Texas-Mexico border. Officials say Lopez killed the man with a pickax.

In my opinion, there had to be some type of leak of information on the details of the transport at bare minimum, transporting a prisoner is regarded as a huge security threat, that’s why it’s held from any of the general population or public!! When and where a prisoner is transported is highly confidential so either this guy is a MacGyver or he had Help!! P.S. Why in the hello Pete in the morning is there not a surveillance camera on the bus?!?! This was a total shocker to me!! You have inmates living under surveillance 24/7 but not when they’re being transported?!? That’s just stupid, in my opinion!

I have several questions. 1) Did the bus take the same route every time, 2) Did anyone see a car or truck in the area waiting for him, 3) Does he have a girlfriend or family, 4) how many guards were on the bus? In this day and age criminals shouldn't be able to escape.

My uncle had a set of cuffs he got from a cop buddy, me being a dumbass kid handcuffed my self and instead of asking him for the key I got a paperclip and picked it in about 5 min. And as far as the door it could of been left unlocked or broken. A buddy of mine that is in the pen said they used to wad up paper or something along those lines so the cells wouldnt lock properly and a few years back around were I live people were putting Rubberbands on door handles that you push down with your thumb to keep the door from locking so they could break in without actually having to break in. Guards need to be non stop eyes on inmate while traveling outside of incarceration areas. Pretty simple. Xray the inmates before loading on transport.

I don't believe he is still in the area. Im willing to bet he had someone on the outside to help get him outta there. This is not something he would just up and decided to do, it's something he was probably planning for .So it leaves alot of unanswered questions and not enough information being put out.
