Ooh looking forward to this! I know what you mean when you feel burned out one minute, and then the next, the creative juices are overflowing! I really haven't watched enough WCW in 1998 to understand what's going on, other than the nWo split and Goldberg winning the World Title, but I'm pretty sure whatever you do with Bret will be great. Also, on a more comical note, I'm glad you're relaxing the rules on cruiserweights. After all, as Bret Hart said it best, "Who are you to doubt El Dandy?" :D

Haha. Love it. I wasn't watching Wrestling at all in this era, but know of (most) of the wrestlers, I just might not know much about their character. This is an interesting era though, especially for WCW. In just 3 years, they were gone.

I'm with you on feeling trepidatious using Benoit. What might be a good way to still be able to use him is to put him under a mask, change his profile pic to match, and probably toss him into a tag team. Add just enough of a barrier that you don't have to think about it. You can just use him like a character in the game. Bret Hart was my boyhood hero (and still a hero to this day), so I'm excited to see what you do with him. I was never a WCW fan, so I didn't see much of what they did with him, but everything I've learned in hindsight is disappointing. He's the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be. Let him prove it ;)

Great idea for Benoit. I'll have a think about it, I'd still know it's him, so I'm not sure. I might just battle through and use him, there's no way he's touching the title picture though.

Nice save, challenging start because all of the main eventers have lenghty contracts with some having creative control. A couple of things: -Your right that your top of the card is aging and will start to decline pretty soon, thats why you need every young midcard guy to step up who has even some sort of star power, Guerrero is a good exemple but malenko can benefit being elevated a little bit and benoit even tho your not liking the idea, is a premiere worker and with a manager, you can get him far as an evil vicious technical heel like a tully blanchard. -Its tied to the first point, but syxx and alex wright are both very young, have good star power and lots of potential, with rey mysterio in the mix or a chris jericho, or even ultimo dragon you can have a top heel cruiserweight (syxx), a top face cruiserweight (rey) and the other guys gravitating back and forth to keep the division fresh somewhat. I tell you this because in my save Alex wright and rey Mysterio actually brought me a 6 months program with matches that were 95+, they can kill it in match ratings if you get them over. Overall this is going to be interesting to watch

We're on the same page. Any WCW roster from here until the very end were aging but I get a lot of fun from getting others over. I have a good list of potential new stars. You've mentioned a couple here.

This will be an interesting one! I watched a little WCW back in the day but I was a WWF/E guy! Looking forward to following this and seeing how it goes!

I watched WWF from 1992 to late 1994, then didn't really watch much wrestling until 2001 (stopped again in 2003). So I know very little about this era. I just think it's a great starting point with Bret coming over to WCW.

@@ruthlessjobber WCW did have a stacked roster at the time, problem is the creative didn't get the best out of what they had. The used Brett terribly too so I'm sure you'll be able to better that lol.

Watched this first episode yesterday. As a huge Bret Hart mark (back in the day, but every day with his moaning I'm pushed further from that!) I'm down for anything that tries to make him a star. I'm always confused with how WCW just managed to fumble him. Although in part I think the Montreal screwjob became bigger as years went on. At the time it was shocking, but only became legendary in the years that followed.

Yeah, I think the screwjob almost messed with peoples instincts and perhaps the way they wanted to deal with / treat Bret and it clouded their judgement. Not that I know much, I wasn't actually watching wrestling at the time.

@@ruthlessjobber this was like the height of me watching alot of wrestling recording Raw and Nitro to watch. At the risk of getting boring I think WCW fumbled with Bret. But to steal a phrase Bret screwed Bret a bit. The screwjob messed with his head ALOT. I don't think he got the closure from WWE that he wanted and just held that monkey on his back for so long. I think add into that he'd been with WWE for well over a decade by that point coming from the bottom to the top. I think he just struggled to come to terms withthe changes. Add into that Bret was a HUGE part of the attitude era, but its almost everything he hates about wrestling. Its over the top characters and he really loved the in ring side of things. I think going to WCW even more so your in ring talent didn't count for much. So i just think overall you had a jaded guy not fully motivated to work, not totally comfortable in his surroundings with not very good booking.
