I came across four full boxes of 9mm Silvertips in my old stock from the early ‘90’s. I am glad to see some new material on them. I am guessing there may be some out there who do not know about the FBI story on these. It is actually a good ballistics/tactics/investigative study. Thank you again sir and happy Sunday!

I have a few boxes of Silvertips in 9 , 45 and 357 mag. I saw some other video in which this round was heavily criticized for "under penetration". But as you aptly point out, volunteers for testing are hard to come by. I'm betting the guy who swore against the Silvertip won't be volunteering to step in front of one. I enjoy your videos my friend. Hope to meet up with you sometime this year. Maybe at Shooter's Supply. Thank goodness its starting to warm up a tad!!

Any fan of Paul Harrell is a part of one big family. Thank you for this video. When Paul did the comparison of old and new Silvertip, I was sold. This is the only defensive ammo other than Underwood that I trust. Some jurisdiction don’t allow lead free bullets (go figure) so these Silvertips are a great alternative to Underwood.

Nice! I've carried Win. Silver tips in the past in .357mag always had very nice expansion when tested on water jugs and I always felt confident in carrying them. My EDC nowadays is usually a compact 9mm , might just have to try and find some more silver tips. I've been carrying the federal punch 124 grain 9mm as of late like to see those tested out on the meat target and maybe some 147 grain Winchester hollow points my typical winter load. Looking forward to seeing your next installment KYP.

I am getting old and forgetful but I think I have tested the Federal Punch in 9mm. awhile back. I know I did in .22lr but can't remember if I tested them in 9mm or not. Getting old stinks lol. I really appreciate you watching :-)

Isn’t this the round that failed to penetrate the bad guy in the infamous Miami shootout? It was a side shot and stoped just short of the heart. Another great video sir.

It penetrated as good as any hollowpoints of 1980s technology.. the problem was the FBI's poor tactics! The silvertip has been freshend up over the decades.

Well done. You know Brother we have had a little bit of snow up here in the Upper Peninsula Michigan also. You may have gotten as much as we did in the southern part of the Peninsula. It is almost gone and we have already collected 20 gallon of Maple sap. Barely 2 foot of snow total this whole winter. It is quite strange. Good results on this offering. I am curious if the clothing will alter the results.

I have tested many rounds over the years. Sometimes "Failing" is in the eye of the beholder. Many will say this round is a failure because the lack of penetration. Many will say the 50 grain 2,000fps Special forces rounds are a failure because they are a fragmenting round that doesn't expand, others will say that the Sinterfire rounds fail because half of the round if frangible. I just try to test as many rounds as possible, show the results, and let folks decide for themselves. I appreciate you watching 🙂

I have this stuff in several of my carry guns. It’s reliable, which is a good criteria to carry as well

I like starting from the minimum. If the shortest barrel can't do it, you can always move up in later tests. But if it succeeds then longer barrel length should have no problem.

Thanks for posting the video. Nice job. I'll admit I do like the meat target, I also know how expensive it can be. As far as the items that were forgotten, welcome to the human race. I looked into setting up to do videos like what you're doing. While there are some pretty good budget cameras, it takes a lot more than just cameras. My point is, I have an idea of what it takes. Thank you for doing the testing and sharing your results. My best wishes to you and your family.

A little upset you didn't pull out a knife and make short shorts 😅. 115 bit under penetration just like my test this weekend HST to Punch to WWB 115 4 layer denim. Save that for if a woman needs lower recoil otherwise 124 better IMO. Ie frontal shots probably fine but if had to go through arm first that's when not enough perhaps
