Hello Mike, I am a retired mechanical engineer and drove trucks internationally for several years after my military service in the 80´s and 90´s. I'm currently drive trucks as a temporary worker. I've been subscribed to your channel for a long time and am thrilled with what you and your father have achieved in restoring your old trucks. Something like this is only possible with difficulty in Germany because we keep getting into problems from the authorities. Restoring a truck yourself and then simply driving it on the road is not possible without a lot of effort and lots of technical and legal checks by various authorities. The police would take us off the streets within minutes if we didn't do that. That's why I'm so excited about how relatively freely you can move around in Canada. But I certainly wouldn't unsubscribe from your channel just because you're taking longer to restore a truck. It's entertaining and interesting to watch you and your father build the truck piece by piece so that it can get back on the road. Here's a saying from Germany on the subject: "Good things take time!"(In German: "Gut Ding will Weile haben") I wish you and your father a safe journey, good luck and health.

I didn't know you had a welding table LOL... You should be proud and pat yourself on the back Mike. I still remember the first video of you bringing Duke home, or attempting to bring him home. It was a huge transformation. You should especially be proud of rebuilding the engine. That's a huge task... For those that say you talk to much and don't get enough work done, we all love trucks, but there are times when you just flat don't feel like working on a project. I lost my wife in August 2022 and I lost my Dad July of last year. I lost interest in everything when my wife died, and I had very slowly gotten a little better, and then my Dad died, and the cycle started over again. There are things that I really used to enjoy, but in all honesty I don't anymore. If I was redoing a truck, or restoring a car, it would be sitting. I totally understand if you have a hard time focusing and being motivated.

Stubby is now a member of your 3 wiper army. Don't forget to replace his windscreen at some point. He still needs work but he's alive and driving. Superb work by yourself and your dad. Stubby is such a cool truck. Maybe find a fifth wheel for a little weight on the back. Hope we can see your dad driving him soon.

You should be VERY proud!!!!! I would be!! My dad and I rebuilt several of our K100s that our lovely drivers wrecked for us including my beautiful 83 that I specially ordered for myself, could have been a show truck!! Only had it 4 years before it was jacknifed on the Adirondack Northway!! That really sucked!!

Took me ages to work out why me headlights wouldn't switch off. I disconnected everything you name it ,relays light switch,, ignition switch,, starter switch, interrupt switch, plugs. As it turns out I disconnected wires from the busbar one at a time and found the wire responsible. Now they switch off. Go figure. How would've that happened. The lights were fine until I had a electrician wire up my roof light 5 years ago. Maybe some skull duggery goin on to drum up more work. IDK. He didn't need to mess around with the busbar to wire up new roof lights. I did mention it to him at the time but got no response. So I just left it and figured it had something to do with the turbo timer or something. 5 years later had nothing to do with that😅

Don’t know if anyone has said this, but when you change filters or have almost run it out of fuel on an N14, I was told, you always fill them up and push the throttle pedal 1/4-1/2 way down before you turn the key on and start it… Never tried it any other way, and the way I stated always allows the truck to start right up and never have had any issues.

The truck formerly known as Stumpy sounds like the artist formerly known as Prince, which seeing as how Prince George features a lot is quite apt. Bodywork takes ages and let's be fair watching someone sanding and filling for weeks on end isn't exactly the most interesting content. As for the check engine light, you raised the cab, saw the engine was there, so you did check it. Keep up the good work with the father and son partnership and enjoy the time spent. Don't worry about the speed of progress.
