You are the best. I bought the same golf cart from the melex brand and thanks to your video I was able to test the motor without having to buy the batteries, thank you very much

Yes please do the restoration video. Your video of testing the motor was the best and easiest method of testing versus everything else that I have found here on KZread.

I've got an 86 ezgo 36v that I've been running for a couple of years with 3 pairs of 12v car batteries.... That's 3 parallel sets in series. It works great. I use whatever free or cheap batteries I can scrounge up. The RANGE is about 6 to ten miles vs about 20-25 but around the house or to the nearby stores it's plenty.

All I need to complete my restoration of my 1985 Melex is the proper wiring diagram or even a photo of where the wires go! Got ahead of myself when removing the wires and not writing the diagram down! Rookie Mistake, can you please help?

Could you have just hooked it up to the main battery leads and checked if everything works. Like the controller and gas pedal controls or do they need 36v?
@projectswithbc6998

Yes they need 36 volts. Make sure and hook up only the motor to the 12 volt battery and that all wires going to motor from the cart have been disconnected first.

Hello, I believe your motor is a shunt wound so these connections will not work. if you look up testing golf cart shunt wound on KZread it will pull up some good videos.

I bought a 1985 EZGO for $60. The electric motor lugs are in a straight line not on four corners like your motor. I can’t find anything on the net or the motor to tell me which lug is which. Any ideas? Good video btw

I have never had or seen one with lugs in a straight line but I did go online and just put in 1985 Ezgo electric golf cart wiring . I then went to images and it had a few diagram with the inline lugs. It showed S1 being closest to the motor and then A2, S2 and A1. I would verify this is what you have before doing any wiring. Sorry I couldn't be more help and good luck..
