I think you're right, a lot of us either work from home or have hybrid schedules. So the 'let's play the efficiency game' may not be as prevalent with most RZ owners. I am so glad the throttle response is this good! Like Chris, when I saw the BZ's numbers my reaction was not very positive, mainly because I knew there would be a Lexus variant. I'm stoked to see more, thanks for posting Kirk!

I think this car will definitely appeal to Toyota/Lexus loyalists in much the same way the Cadillac Lyriq appeals to Caddy/GM fans. But for those not already in the club, the spec sheet will make it a tough sell I suspect. Which is fine because they aren't planning to produce very many of them. I'm sure they'll have no problem selling everything that comes off the line.

@@KirkKreifels Not your fault certainly: you can only report your experience. It is something those of us in colder places have to keep in mind. Where I live (mid-Atlantic coast) I'm seeing a range hit of ~25% during the coldest periods, and the couple times I used public DCFC the output was ~50-60% of nominal. (I only very rarely charge away from home, and my car doesn't do a very good job of preconditioning.) My comment was more a reminder to the audience to keep these factors in mind than it was a criticism of your content.
It's stunning no lie at all but I just hope Lexus knows what they are doing. I really want to switch to EV after my UX hybrid. The NX plug-in did not catch my attention but the RZ does since the RX is too big and expensive. If Lexus can offer a single motor variant (220-250hp), a bit more range, and a price tag that is appealing then I will be sold. I can't stomach $60K+ for what the RZ450e offers compared to the competition. Let's hope Lexus is reading and listening to comments...give us a RZ300 to give us a choice between a single or dual motor and price tag.
I will order when it’s launched in my country looks great Kirk. I drive about 150km a day out of town so the Range is no issue for me. It will mean charging at home 2.5 times a week. Versus putting in petrol on my ICE Lexus costing me triple the cost of fuel.
Beautiful car thanks for your video take care bye
All negativity on here. Either you gone buy it or not. Many complaining can't even afford it and will never buy it but yet still complain. So what the range is low and Tesla is higher. I am a very happy '23 RX 350L owner, and the quality of the Mark Levinson audio was one of the reasons I bought it. Yeah, I see it as an electric RX, bring its virtues of luxury/refinement/convenience to an EV. In fact, the additional silence and refinement improve on those virtues. The range is a con, but seemingly a choice by Lexus. Perhaps they see their market as non-road-tripping commuters and retirees? Thanks to both of you, and happy travels.

Agreed, not to mention they are offering that available 30-day loaner vehicle to owners up to 3 years. Hopefully, they can offer competitive lease deals. I was paying $480/mo for my hybrid, for an EV my max would be $600 so Lexus will have to really market this appropriately.
In the market for a new car and decided to go with an EV this time. Have a Lyriq preordered since May 2022 and depending on how much more it's delayed (hearing Q4 2023 or early 2025 delivery now), might just go with the RZ instead...assuming it isn't similarly delayed. The range and lack of EV tax credit qualification hurts and definitely brings it to a trailing 2nd place compared to the Lyriq, but overall do dig basically everything else of the vehicle.
Lexus design top notch. Even when other companies like BMW and Infiniti try to copy it doesn't move because with that L badge attached it's just proper.

Beautiful SUV! just make it a good old-fashioned gas operated vehicle and I would get one!!
I love the look of the vehicle. However, given the price and the shorter range, a better electric vehicle would be the upcoming RX 450H if it falls within the same price range. The electric range will be shorter but still good enough for daily driving without range anxiety always on your mind.
As I’ve said before, I wish Toyota would share the better looks of Lexus exteriors with their Toyota releases. I guess it’s similar to VW and Audi.
Love it. Just wish you could actually get one? Sort of a Lexus fantasy to try to their customers thinking they will somehow be able to keep up with Tesla.
Ok, I know Lexus buyers that switch to Tesla, anyway, if the RZ 450e offered better range, I think Lexus would be shocked how well it could do, but with its range, can Lexus really justify its starting price and one wonders, how it would do with a lower starting price, overall, I would rank it, behind the Tesla Model Y (better EV in every way, note I said EV), next, the Cadillac Lyriq (one of Cads best model to date and feel worth its price), following the BMW iX (a problem, you have to look at it and dark colors look better) and next the Mercedes EQE SUV (I would wait for it), this may be a stretch, but I have the RZ 450e tied with the Audi e-tron (or upcoming 2024 Q8 e-tron, the name change), crazy but both of these EVs suffer the same problem, range, as for the Genesis GV60 (it's too small, enough said), I know Audi has the Q4 e-tron (it's fine, but wasn't a fan of the VW ID.4, so), I kind of always pull for Lexus or Cadillac vs the Germans, one would ask why didn't Lexus offer quicker charging and a larger battery pack, overall, it's what I expected from the first Lexus EV, given the fact Toyoyta's not a big EV fans
Less emphasis on 0-60 and more on range would've been far better for my purposes. After all, it's a family hauler 99% of the time, while being a red light racer 1% of the time. Not quite ripe for picking yet IMHO.
Disappointed you didn't drive the yoke steer by wire version. Autogeuful drove it and thought it was the future of steering but the regular steering also is quite good. I think this is a very nice car but Lexus missed withe range/charging speed. I think this will be addressed and a more acceptable battery range will follow in a newer version. I think this interior really works, especially the dash.

Pretty good first effort. Range is disappointing. Styling exterior and interior is a bit generic old Lexus looking. No rear wiper? Does it have voice commands? Tesla 1 button voice commands are great, you dont have touch the screen.
Quality is great but the range will be the downfall for this model. As much I like this car, I am not seduced to get a car that still does up to 300 miles range in 2023! Lexus should have pushed for 400 miles plus to be a serious contender such as Tesla. Shame as I feel maybe there will be a newer version with better battery cells in 1-2 years. Also if they could find a way to charge the car much quicker than any other cars would really a major selling point. Shame because it is otherwise a nice car. But overall it is a car on sale today with technology of other vehicles already on sale in comparison. This is not good enough in my opinion. Lexus must step up if it wants to compete with Tesla. It would be great if the infotainment system could be updated wirelessly like Tesla so the technology advances to improve car features and safety. To me, Lexus is already too late introducing this car. Shame, as I really love Lexus as a brand and I drive a fairly new ES300h (had a GS450h Luxury before). @Will Nye I see your point. To me if we need to do a day trip for holiday and go somewhere, I don't fancy having to plan and stop the journey half way to charge the battery. Many EV stations in UK, are not properly serviced. So you are gambling on this. Massive set back. Unlike Tesla, they have their own charging infrastructure. I wish Lexus could do the same! Yes price is high too. But on the positive side, you get a 10 year warranty and so you can confidently say that the batteries are made excellent quality to retain their full capacity for much longer so value of the car will be sustainable and better than many other EVs. The Plug-in NX is way better than the RZ in terms of overall performance ($58K+) so that variant is out of the question and the NX350h is not up to par with the RZ. Therefore I would conclude a base price for the RZ between $53-60K with two different electrical motors to give consumers a choice between power or range. You may say hydrogen isn't going to work but my point is they aren't anti-that form of EV. BEVs still have the issue of cost for manufacturers to build, the high carbon footprint to build, the mining conditions in certain areas, and more. And hydrogen is not without its issues as well. While I like and support BEVs, I think people should still have a choice to drive hybrids with reduced emissions as well as BEVs if they can. And the infrastructure for BEVs still isn't developed in many markets.
