TEST TERMINATED IN JUST OVER 5 MINUTES... but he has improved!

Juvenal is back for another mock test, he has been learning to drive with his brother Jeremy.
Jeremy sure has a lot of faith in his brother, as he has been teaching him to drive in a manual car WITHOUT DUAL CONTROLS.

Nah Jeremy's been teaching him good. The problem is that Juvenal is too confrontational, emotional and always believes he's right and everyone else is wrong. He blamed the car for not braking when he was slamming on the clutch the whole time. I think he needs time planning and writing down notes, as well as calming himself down so he isn't nervous and neglecting his spacial awareness. He shouldn't be driving until he understands the fundamentals on paper.

@@colinjava8447 oh absolutely. I didn't really mean that though. Just that those 2 actually have their own youtube channel where the brother in the back is teaching him. But he isn't a qualified instructor. So the way he teaches him isn't the best and both him and his brother get frustrated at times with each other making actually learning quite difficult. Especially since Jeremy isn't quite capable of giving very clear instructions in a way to help the driver like she does in this video. So the time he had learning from an actual instructor, those 40-60 minutes with her probably did more good for him than over 10 hours with Jeremy.

    24 күн бұрын

@@malalford But this is the UK. I did 30-40 hours with an instructor before my test all with an instructor and passed my first time. What's important here isn't how many hours you do before hand but weather you can actually drive and follow the UK road laws safely. Now if you can do that with 40 hours or 10 hours or even 0 hours somehow then that's what's important but on average usually 30+ hours is a good amount of time with an instructor. As it's not an easy test like it is in the US or some other countries. Feels kind of a silly requirement tbh. Not even sure how they can monitor 120 hours if not done with an official that keeps track. Otherwise you can just lie and be like yeah I did 120 hours with my dad last month. Also to note when I said this the guy in the video had 0 hours with an actual instructor. It's always been with his brother who isn't even a real instructor. So my point was to say he got so much more information from an actual instructor teaching him in that 1 hour than he did from his brother the entire time he's been trying to teach him.

while watching videos of these two brothers is quite humorous, he is a legit learner driver who is not being taught the basics of proper and safe driving. He has spent several months now solidifying habits that are not just bad but unsafe. Even more than the mechanics of actually driving. A good instructor has to be able to coach someone while knowing how far to push that person. It's as much about mindset as it is actually driving. So I just found myself constantly turning my head left and right every few seconds, looking where the mirrors were, just to satisfy the instructor, with lots of praise that I was being very aware of my surroundings… when in fact, I really wasn’t taking very much in… thinking; oh yeah a blue car behind me or nice tree in the distance, or why did that car just swerve into a lamppost ? I think I would have found it useful to hear what I was supposed to be looking out for in each situation….And if I saw one, what I was supposed to do about it. Also, you probably already do this, but it would be good if instructors parked alongside a car to show the pupil how the car can’t be seen in the blind spot, that’s usually talked about but not always demonstrated. Not when I was taught anyway.

Jeremy blaming Juvenal for not checking mirrors when it's clear in his videos that he hasn't taught any of that and just expects Juvenal to know. Very clear that Juvenal needs a professional to teach him. Jeremy should learn patience from Aman and stop shitting on his brother.

I've seen this guy quite a few times now, especially with his brother teaching him... Now, I've seen a ton of comments blaming his brother for teaching him "bad habits". I disagree to an extent. Juvenal's brother encourages mirror checks, to signal, check blind spots, etc. I feel like the main problem is Juvenal's fear, it causes him to panic when he gets behind the wheel. Aside from that, currently, his judgement/awareness is pretty terrible to put it lightly... He tries to proceed in spaces that he'd never fit through. He gets too close to the curb, sometimes hitting it. When asked about things like trying to squeeze past when there's no space, his response was "I thought there was". When asked about being in the wrong lane, he responded "was I?"... Even during the lesson, he went the wrong way over a roundabout. When asked about it, he said "I thought we were going to turn", when there wasn't even a right turn. Aside from that, he went on the wrong side of the road to do it anyway, which is just dangerous. Again, when asked about if he saw the road marking for the right turn at the 2 lane junction, he said "no". When asked about what he was looking at, he said "I don't know" followed by "I was looking at the one on the right"... It's a 2 lane junction, with him in the right lane. The only thing on the right, was the other side of the road, which you shouldn't even be focused on at that point... It's very easy to put the blame on someone else, in this case, his brother. But I genuinely don't believe his brother is the issue here. Juvenal needs to focus more, but remain relaxed. And the main thing he needs to work on his spatial awareness. It's good to see that he also recognised that.

You do have a point about Juvenal which I agree with but Jeremy is a bad instructor and is at fault too. This video is the first time he has ever mentioned the MSM routine on recording and that's because we told him about the routine. I appreciate that Jeremy reads the comments but he should have done some studying himself instead of just relying on his own experience. For example, he believed the 3-point-turn was still on the test and kept doing it for at least 3 videos. We had to keep telling him to calm down on the 3-point-turns. Jeremy has bad habits and he has passed them on to his brother. Mirrors are not something you say once at the beginning of the lesson and just expect learners to do consistently. Instructors have to prompt mirrors for all new learners and then observe if the learner is doing them. If the learner misses a mirror check, the instructor should say so. Jeremy doesn't do that. I can't tell you the amount of turns and roundabouts where Juvenal has just slapped on the indicator and Jeremy said that was good because he didn't hit anything. Jeremy hasn't taught Juvenal to check his blindspot contrary to what you believe. Jeremy has never told Juvenal to observe all around when reversing. Not once has he ever encouraged Juvenal to look out the back window. Jeremy hasn't taught Juvenal to properly downshift. Aman did that there in this video. Juvenal would always shift into 1st when the car needed 2nd and would be frustrated as to why it was so difficult, blaming the car. Jeremy should have explained to him what he's doing wrong but instead he says nothing. I can go on and on. I know if Jeremy was my instructor, I would get little to nowhere in terms of progress.

@@aprilsummers6447 That’s a fair take. From my recollection of the few times I’ve saw their videos, I thought I’d heard Jeremy remind him about MSM on more than one occasion. Could it be that they were newer videos? Or am I just misremembering? Either way, I have agree with you. He definitely isn’t at a level to be a qualified instructor. Especially after seeing how he drives his own car on public roads… I saw a clip of him earlier flooring & attempting to slide his BMW. He was setting a dreadful example for his brother. In fact, Juvenal even questioned what the hell he was doing… There’s a time and a place for things like that, and if he’s stupid enough to endanger the lives of others with reckless driving, I’m of the opinion that he shouldn’t even hold a license. Not until he grows up at least. It’s good to see Juvenal actually progress though, even if there is still a bit to go. He’ll get there eventually! As I say, he really does need to focus more on his spatial awareness and hazard perception. But he acknowledges that, and that’s great. It’s one step closer to being a better driver! I think without his brother in the car, and more lessons with Aman, he’ll be there in a few months. I appreciate you taking the time to respond, it was a good insight into what Jeremy’s actually been like in previous videos. Maybe I should check out some more and see how bad he really is lol.

His brother will be very useful helping him practice, by all means sit in on professional lessons and take notes, Juvenal will progress quickly. Aman you have a lovely nature, one small criticism, you guided Juvenal onto the pavement to terminate the mock test, a supervising examiner on a check test would down grade you. I also think you could have chucked in a couple of questions in after you saw him planning too late eg you asked him what he could see ahead (traffic lights) and then just ask him to narrate the procedures, in my time a little commentary cemented good tuition. Juvenal was in the early stages and I am intrigued to know a couple of things if you have the time to reply. Firstly in my career (a long time ago) we set students up to move off, left hand on the handbrake and then do the observations, we rarely expected a signal to move off because obviously he/she is not pulling out into the traffic stream until it's clear in an effort to avoid robot signalling, when I last did an examiners course, it was the same for parking "if it affects other road users then of course signal". Secondly, do you encourage the use of the handbrake at STOP signs and red lights? I have watched other professional tutors not using the handbrake which doesn't prove to an examiner that the candidate knows it is a definitely a Stop. I suspect that some cars have automatic handbrakes so maybe I've missed that. All the best Aman, keep up the great work, you've got another subscriber.

Having good instructor is a must. My first instructor was dodgy. Our first lesson (the free one) was in a mini cooper, it went ok. So I bought next lesson and then he turns up in old corsa. The lesson progressed and at some point, as we were moving off, I mentioned I preferred the other car and he literally pretended we never drove a different car! He tried to gas light me into thinking it was always this car! He was very snarky and talking to me like I am "stupid woman that knows nothing about cars". It would've been ok if he said 'oh. I forgot' or 'i switch cars round' etc. But no, he had this behaviour that just made me feel I don't want to be in a car with him as I DIDN'T TRUST HIM. I never cared about what brand of car we drove, I simply preferred clutch on the first one. I believe he used the 'nicer' car to get people to 'sign up'.... I didn't go back.... Had few lessons with my partner and then again with different instructor. That one kept flirting with me and when he texted me about the course you can take after you pass (can't remember the name) he said he noticed I bought new car! What a creep!!!
