Juvenal's 3rd Mock Test After Learning To Drive With His Brother Jeremy

Juvenal is back for another mock test, it has been around 9 months since the last time he was on this channel. He has been learning to drive with his brother Jeremy.
Previously Juvenal's mock tests have not gone as planned, I did have to terminate the test. How will he get on today?

A few driving lessons ago I kept making mistakes, and I started tearing up and wasn't driving as safe anymore as I was in my own head. I was miliseconds from asking my instructor to let me pull over (he was unaware of how I was feeling). It's so good she's aware of her student's emotions

Juvenal could become a very competent driver with professional driving lessons. The issue is his brother is not an instructor, and frankly I think he’s using Juvenal’s failures for personal gain (via his own KZread channel). You could see it when Jeremy’s smirking in the back at all of his brother’s mistakes, and whenever Aman is trying to calm him down, Jeremy proceeds to escalate Juvenal’s stress levels. Proper driving lessons at Clearview would allow Juvenal to learn correctly (and no, not with Jeremy present).

the issue is he is bad at driving, he will always be a bad driver the fact that his brother is not an instructor doesn't really matter. lots of people learn from family members and are 10x better then juvenal "Jeremy proceeds to escalate Juvenal's stress levels". yea... no he doesn't. you are just imagining things cause it fits your theory. "he's using Juvenal's failures for personal gain", yea so is Aman. this is a factual statement, not ethical commentary.

I think with Juvenal you can see why learners go to professional driving instructors and then practice what they were taught with family. While his brother just says 'Why didn't you stop earlier' she immediately acknowledged the fact that he was too fast due to the high speed in the road beforehands. Those are valuable tips - he is for sure no lost case, he just needs some hours with a professional, not just his brother.

Juvenal is clearly trying and it’s normal to make those mistakes and clearly Juvenal is bothered that he’s made those mistakes. It doesn’t help that his brother and his fans scold him. How will that help him??? Aman gives more constructive criticism and is very respectful. She doesn’t degrade him or say “WHY DID YOU DO THAT?” People hit curbs all the time. Juvenal is doing a great job

Exactly! He was actually driving so well at the start and his junction observations are much better than a lot of other people doing the mock tests (most people hesitate too much). Juvenal is not bothered by his brother at all, he clearly doesn't care. Maybe you don't like how he speaks. But asking why did you do that is appropriate. Aman tries to tell you what you did wrong. I would love to see Juvenal do a Mock Test without Jeremy sitting in the back. I'm sure he'd do 5 times better than that, not having his brother's heavy stare nagging him. After the curb situation, you could see Juvenal constantly looking in the rear mirror, and seeing Jeremy's reaction led him to dwell on the mistake, thinking it was way worse than it actually was. He did so much better this time around, I was pleasantly surprised that he didn't fail within the first 2 minutes. He drove for about 15 minutes without any bad incidents. He can be a good driver, but the pressure his brother puts on him is only slowing his progress, by a lot.

Me too. Not getting pushed or anything about it though. I'm afraid of taking the car in the city or further from the settlement alone. I have driven further with and experienced driver next to me. Part of this is that i drive the family car, a daihatsu terios, which is not the easiest car to drive and very different from the one i learned on

I just passed my driving test in my own country, and these videos provided me comfort when I was gearing up to take the test because Aman is so good and delivering lessons in a calm, extremely clear, and non-judgemental way. It made me feel like if I just calm down, I'll know what to do because I've already had multiple lessons and practices doing it. I honestly don't think Juvenal is a lost cause. He just needs to have more confidence on the road, and to do that, he needs to be learning and practising with an instructor that constantly helps to build that confidence.

It's not that he can't drive, he can drive very well. (Though he is clutching first before breaking). It's that he hasn't been taught the *importance* of checking mirrors and blindspots. I've noticed from previous videos that he doesn't like them because he feels like hes doing it just so the instructor can see he's doing it. But you don't check blindspots juts for the *sake* of it, you need to be fully aware of any fast vehicles that might rush down the road before he moves off. I mean when I'm driving, I'm constantly checking cause you never know there might be a cyclist or motorcyclist coming out of nowhere. He's very lucky that whenever he doesn't check his blindspots nothing bad has occured. But I don't want him to find out the importance the hard way.

I taught my son that you need to know who’s around you at all times on all sides. That way you’re aware in advance what you need to do if someone tries to cut you off or an obstacle is in your way. Do you have room to swerve, and if so, right or left, or is breaking hard the only way?

hes definitely getting closer. hes possibly on his last couple of hours. i know from my experience the last few hours were tough to like put everything together. i know when i was still a learner i could do everything but i couldn't piece everything together in 1 drive. like sometimes i would be able to ace parallel park and then the next week i would do awful. when it comes to the test, what i could say that helped me with my nerves which could help Juvenal is simply just enjoy the drive. ive always enjoyed driving even as a learner and up until test day, my confidence went from 100 to like 50. i think only when you can enjoy the drive you will pass as everything just flows naturally. best of luck Juvenal with your lessons

This was super helpful! I made a mistake today that was similar to what he did at the big roundabout. But my instructor didnt explain how to avoid it in the future. I will now always check the speedometer when slowing down from a high speed. I hope he learns to be less hard on himself. We all make mistakes. Nobody's born with a wheel in their hands, but with practice and patience we can do it 😊

I think Juvenal would benefit from using risk triggered commentary. So if he’s like setting off he says out loud what he needs to do before he sets off like checking blind spots. If he’s approaching a roundabout he can be saying like give way to the right so he knows he has to look to the right and not give way to cars approaching from the left. If he’s turning right say out loud mirror signal manoeuvre. I’m positive if he actually commentates on what he’s doing it will stick in his head.

The cool thing about his faults and how he drove this time around is that, all his mistakes were mistakes that any new or learner driver could have made, unlike before, there weren't any straight up crazy things that happened. So he has improved a lot, so I think more lessons and maybe in 3-6 months, he could give it another try and I could see him do well.

The theory test pass only lasts for two years so I would put money on him having to take that again. The main issue is that when you watch the lessons with Jeremy, Jeremy offers no real instruction, explanation or insight in to how to drive. He basically just says “at the end of this road, turn left please” and then shrieks at him when he does badly, and congratulates him when he does something to the near minimum standard. The lad needs professional lessons and they cost money for a reason!
