Tesla Terafactory Texas Update

Welcome back guys, it’s Randy! Today’s footage shows a look at the main areas of focus directly on the exterior walls and adjacent areas of the factory, as well as a few more larger developments just a small ways away from the building in certain areas. These sort of things look like the focus going into the weekend and I’m sure we’ll see more of it next week as well, so until then enjoy the footage and have a great weekend.
Here are today’s key takeaways:
- The GigaPress area shows work for the perimeter grade beam on the northwest angled corner section is in the process of being built, as we can see rebar already put into place.
- The east side of the BIW section shows more of the concrete slabs have had expansion joints cut into them and over at the loading bay area on this side, we can see some work being done a few yards away from the building within the walled area, but I’m not sure what’s actually being done. Leave a comment below if you know what these workers are currently doing. On the roof, we see a lot more framing now in place for the construction of the stairwell structure.
- The southern gap shows fill soil being brought in and we can see the south end has received a small amount while the majority of it goes to the north end , which now shows most of the footers completely buried. We can also see the aggregate mix has been applied to the ground around the footers at the far north end as well.
- The detention pond south of the factory now shows the 2 large pipes near Stamping and the southern gap has now been connected, as shown here.
- The southwest corner near the bridge shows the updates to the new paths being worked on to connect the road on the west side of the factory to the one running beneath the bridge and crews were still actively working all over this area at the time of filming. We can also see that more aggregate base mix has been applied next to the existing road, so it’s possible we could start seeing some action here to start paving or pouring the next phase of roadway heading south.
- The GA west side again shows a new shipment of the taller windows for installation has arrived just after the previous ones finished being installed.
- The Northern Gap roof shows even more concrete has been poured above the steel decking and they are just about at the halfway mark when it comes to how much they have left to cover in concrete.
- The BCP building shows some pretty cool new loading bay doors have now been installed, but there are still more bays in this area still awaiting the same treatment.

These later shots provide an interesting new perspective, not to mention some fantastic lighting. I know it's a byproduct of your busy schedule, but the change-up offers a fresh perspective and I like it.

Regarding the East side loading docks: The East side raod grade is the same level as the ground floor grade. The West side road grade is below the level of the ground floor grade. On the West side, rain water flows AWAY from the building because of the road/ground floor grade difference. On the East side, the ramps to the loading docks need to ramp down to the building to be the correct height for the loading docks. Therefore you need rain water drainage along the building at these spots. That's what you're seeing.

White pipes on Eastside are for drinking fountains for staff. Also i have imagined some really nice water features around that side of the factory and some on the west side, these pipes will be large enough to get water up to a height of a few meters before dropping into a large pond where there are koi by the hundreds, pond will be next to the road with bushes and seats around them. Damn i can actually see this happening for real if elon reads these comments.

Looks like the east side is getting better treatment... All concrete paving. Yet the westside has the beautiful tall windows. Wish they would have done all concrete paving along the westside too.

I suspect they have done the west side so as to enable removal of chargers in the future and then lay concrete for the heavy vehicles that will use the opened loading docks. It might have been easier to lay concrete everywhere but digging it up to remove chargers would have been a mess and hard work.

I do not think that it has been mentioned, but when your pour concrete you potentially eliminate work by tracked vehicles in these areas. This would indicate that all dirt work has been completed in the concrete areas.

@ 4:11 While spaceframes are great at long spans, the downside is how much space they take up. In this case it occupies what would be the forth floor!

Someone has stated that there will be a "ring road" around the plant so the west side will have to be part of this road. Notice the concrete at 10:54 left middle, that appears to be a turn in from a road, possibly the ring road.

@ 14:18 My guess is that at some point in the future they will fill in the north end of the pond, and connect the west, central, and eastside stormwater drains directly to the river outlets. Probably after they have done sufficient paving to keep the mud out of the river.

I was wondering why "Lake Tesla" detention pond doesn't go down, but every time I've seen the storm water pipe feeding it, there's water coming out. There hasn't been any storms, I wonder where all that water is coming from..? Just curious...

  • @bobcallahan2322

They were pumping water from the bottom of the excavation for the big round vault on the east side to dewater the excavation. They are now backfilling the vault and are above the water table and are no longer pumping water. That is why the big pipes could now be connected at the south ponds because the water flow had stopped.

If you look closely, Lake Tesla is deeper than the northern pond. This entire area has a high water table and the "lake" is simply where the water table lies for the entire construction site. It's why it won't drain away, even with the lack of rain, and it's why the northern pond is dry, because the floor of the pond is shallower than the water table. So after a rainstorm, it will eventually percolate down.

The elevation of the building is 416 feet. The Colorado river is at 381 feet. It could be about 35 feet down to the water in the pond. This retention pond might be at river level.

@ 6:29 you can see where the lugs that are welded on the imbeds for the precast to hang from are missing at about the same level as the window locations that carry on further down the east side. I'm wondering if they're gonna' change this detail to include windows where there currently are none like they're doing at the south west corner.

I wonder if Berlin is actively hiding any progress from the interior due to fossil fuel industry paying people to protest and using video to look for evidence of anything they can complain about. Easy to back up into factory to remove items and cover them so not identified like in Texas where it is not a problem whatever they do.

Too much filming time and don't work without actual construction taking place. Please consider feeling all the cars departing the factory at the end of a shift at the traffic light section we'd like to see how it works and follow it all the way west to the far end where it dead ends and show us all the cars going left home or right home. Also the possible new route on the north east end of the property that may be constructed. Also any new activity on the new road on the southwest section coming to under the bridge to the factory and it's activity. Thank you kindly we like your work

So what's the idea with the remaining of the south pit? No footer work or widening and they reinforced one section oddly. Also some of the new footers on the building side are oddly placed, single ones followed by double, some close to each other some farther, somebody drank a bottle of Tesla Tequila haha.

In steel column and beam construction the side loads are carried by "X" bracing which is located in many places in this building. The concrete construction is with prestressed columns and beams that are welded together and poured with concrete at junctions forming one continuous frame supporting a prestressed and welded roof with a steel reinforced concrete overlay.
