Tesla Terafactory Texas Update

Hey guys, it’s Randy! Today’s footage shows a lot of general and all-around updates at the site. We’re definitely approaching the territory where there are lots of little updates and jobs that need to be done that have a huge impact in the end, but there are still quite a few larger things to come that we’ll still be seeing. The next phase of work in the southern gap, being the construction of the footings, is another of those larger items that we’ll see today in a sea of smaller tasks.
Here are today’s key takeaways:
- The GigaPress area shows a new trench being dug for pipes being laid around the north and angled corner. We also see the new footing along the northern edge within the gap being filled with concrete. As some viewers mentioned yesterday, this footing looks to actually be a single one added to the perimeter of the building and there probably won’t be a full row running down the gap. The gap also has more steel that’s gone into place for the roof and the roof of the rest of this large section shows the next area to have concrete poured having the WWM put into place. Lastly, underneath, we can see a new excavation starting, but this is as good of a look I could get of it. Could this be the makings of yet another casting machine foundation because all of the others started with similar excavations?
- I didn’t mention these yesterday, but near the center of the BIW building, we see what look to be walls like the ones on the GA west side, but these don’t seem to rise above ground-level. If you know why this is the case, please leave a comment below. The wall panel installation further south is on the last section of panels to be installed.
- The southern gap shows the new updates in the pit as it looks like the excavation work is completed and now the interior work on the pit is ramping up. We see that mud slabs have already been poured into some of the footings and others are being dug and prepped for concrete, starting at the north end and working to the south. Here we see this in progress and it looks like forms are being put into place directly around where the tops of the drilled shafts are exposed as sections of the mud slabs are being broken and removed but in a very specific manner.
- Something else of significance on the west side of the site is that the work on the SH130 NB lane expansion project now has paving work being done on what will most likely be a new shoulder section.
- The GA west side actually doesn’t show any new wall panels installed since yesterday, but we do see that the lanes for vehicles to drive on have had temporary concrete barriers added to both sides running the entire length of the factory. The updates on the widening of the road or additional lot space is also progressing quickly as shown here.
- The northern gap shows the metal decking has been applied to cover most of the painted sections of the space frames and it looks like another of the unpainted sections has been installed.

11:20 A bit of info about these foundations. The excavation exposes the top of the concrete piled foundations and 'mud' concrete is placed in the bottom. The workers then break down the piles, leaving a few inches of the pile concrete protruding and expose the rebar, which will be tied in to the rebar cage of the column base. This structure is a pile cap, and will transfer the load from the structure deep down into the ground through the piles. There must be something heavy going here, as it looks like the compacted fill in the surrounding area isn't strong enough with the geo-piers used everywhere else.

Do you think the excavation is just to get low enough to allow for the continuous flight augers to get to the desired stratum? Any idea why they are cutting out parts of the mud slab around specific piles?

This probably has less to do with the soil in this area being worse. And more to do with the requirements of the equipment being installed in this area. Just look back at the size and complexity of the isolation foundation installed under the stamping press area. This will be where some of the Cyber truck will be built. I’m excited to see the final manufacturing process. It will be like nothing we’ve seen before.

@@patrickkenny2077 I was wondering that myself. The only thing I could think of is that the concrete pile cracked lower than intended, so they removed the mud so that the pile cap concrete has a better bond with the pile. That's a long shot though.

@@schlott1970 I don't think the ground is bad, it's just hasn't got enough compressive strength to support the loads from this part of the structure. Hopefully we will find out what's being built there, the roof will block the view at some point

Thanks Randy. 3:59. Casting. Pile of black pipes near the red bin, more around the west side. Some other service to be run in. 7:18. Dumper bin on the crane. I think that’s going on the roof. Pile of rubbish on the roof. Another full bin on the ground. 8:27. East side BIW wall. There’s that intermittent reflective piece of art on the wall. 11:16. South alleyway footings. Some squares busted out of the mud slabs, must have been too high. Some smaller rebar cages to the left of the blue gazebo. 15:03. Far right of the screen. The dumper bin on the roof of BIW. 15:13. West side GA. Window sills are different to the those further north. Black powder coated. Better fixing likely for the larger panels. 15:49. West side GA at ramp. Pile of large black pipes at bottom of screen.

7:18 & 15:03 Weird, usually chutes are preferred. Maybe the rubbish is isolation panels too large for a chute and/or too light for the full load to damage the roof ? 11:16 This comment agrees: kzread.info/dash/bejne/fIV3r9aTdK_aYs4.html&lc=UgznMurpfa9ebRCV9tJ4AaABAg

Hello again, this time with a recommendation. I'd love to hear more narrative throughout the flyover -- your voice and pleasant manner are really quite enjoyable to listen to. Many of your viewers are already familiar with the main plant and surrounding areas. For those who are new and/or less knowledgeable, they are viewing things that they may not really comprehend, which may cause them to disengage, thus sending the wrong signal to the KZread algorithm. Personally, I would enjoy hearing your observations sprinkled throughout, taking advantage of your unique, intimate knowledge and in the process letting us get to know you! This is also a way to differentiate your channel and build loyal viewership. I strongly believe this would help you further grow your channel, the number of subscribers and support on Patreon. Right now, they are ripping up hundreds of feet of 8 foot diameter stormwater pipe in the south alley.... Erosion control has been a joke... Stormwater management, until recently, has been a joke... They lay stormwater pipe on the west side of the building, heading towards the river, then cut into it and divert it to the pond, then work to finish the stormwater outlets on that very same pipe...They have to rip up freshly paved parking lots because of poorly coordinated utility work... They bring in equipment into the building with an uncompleted roof... And so on. I'm sure I missed a few things.
