    This is the Bible of swapping in a tesla motor. Everything is there. To top it off you answer questions. Legendary. Thank you

    Thanks for the videos, so valuable! I'd be SUPER interested if you could point me to some info on how you wired up the test bench stuff like the pedal, and F-N-R switch. I took a bunch of notes on the pre-charge circuit, it's the best explanation I've seen, and I know you just did it off the cuff, so congrats on that. Thanks again for making these videos.

    Hi Hank, to be able to do what I did you would have to have the inverter circuit board that I bought from Damien McGuire which you can find on openinverter.org website. Then just follow their directions on hooking up the pedal etc. with the diagrams they give. You use low voltage DC first. I used just one battery out of my pack at 60 volts. You can not do this with a stock Tesla setup, you need the circuit board. You can email me too if you need. jack@roadstercycle.com

    Great videos, really helpful. With Damien’s board, does it support regen braking and what software do you need to connect to the wifi and alter settings?

  • @Roadstercycle

    @Roadstercycle

    Yes, Damien's board does have regen. You do not need any software at all. You log into the wifi on the motor at its address and all the perimeters come up and you can tweak and save right there. Very Easy.

    Do you know what was the current draw when you were running it at 54VDC? Trying to bench test it with a power supply o stead of batteries.

    You really have to use batteries to test. Power supplies are not a solid output source, people have tried to no avail.

    how did you get that material to run the Tesla model s motor and also the battery? I want that material so that I could do the same for that 2005 Mustang GT v6

    Hi, Motors are readily available through salvage yards, electronics and available through Openinverter.org, AEM and others. Just do your homework.

    Awesome build! Curious how will you prevent accidental switch from forward to reverse? Via relay logic or there's a setting in the control board? Thanks in advance.

  • @Roadstercycle

    Hi, There is a lock out in play here, you can't shift into reverse or forward unless the RPMs are under 100. So you can't accidentally shift into the opposite direction. It's in the control board. You can actually set what RPM you want. I have mine at 100 RPMs Which almost totally stopped.

    Great video! Was unable to determine the job the relays were performing though. Wiring schematics on openinverter don't show the use of relays. What are their jobs?

  • @Roadstercycle

    The relays are for HV Positive, HV Negative and pre charge. Look at Tesla LDU wiring diagrams on open inverter, they are there.
