Tesla Model 3 interior, seat and cargo space
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
We tested various items to see if it fits in a Model 3. Overall, it's quite spacious in there. The only downside is the lack of a large hatch opening.

I can't believe I just watched 32 minutes of three guys stuffing random objects and themselves into a car. Awesome video though, really helped me visualize what I can and cannot do with the car. Thank you!

Good job! Definitely the most useful Model 3 review I've seen up until now...
At first I thought it was silly putting the tall guy lying down inside the car, but when you mentioned that you can camp out in the car, that was genius! You don't even have to camp out. Maybe during a long drive, you just wanna lay down and stretch your legs for an hour at a rest stop.
Thank you for taking the time to review cargo space! I love this
15:15 "We also tried to fit a human" The way you casually say it xD
I like these guys...and definitely the very comprehensive spacial testing of this car.
3:36 “ Will it blend? will it close?**” 😂😂😂
very practical exercise. I am 6'3" so particularly useful for me.
what a comprehensive review. Great work!
This is just what I needed to know about cargo space, thank you!
I have been looking for this details, you guys have done great job
Best video of Model 3 ever!
Always good videos, nice practical tesla info, thanks
Good job showing people what’s possible. We have a long Tandem bike that splits in two that I think might fit in the back with the seats folded down. I gather the area in the back widens as one moves closer to behind the front seats.
Thank you for putting Harald in the seats :) Finally I could see how a 2m tall person can fit in an electric car.
Thanks for letting the big guy sit everywhere! I am also 1,95 m so it was exactly what I wanted to see

You would fit nice in the front seats and OK in the back seats! (says the 1,95 guy..)

Probably could put a pillow under the knees in the back seat to fix the lowness issue. For long trips.
Good video.
Enjoyed this. Very entertaining.
These guys are awesome!
Great vid! Thank you!
Great video! 😉👍
Honestly, I’m thinking of renting for a trip and I had questions about storage. Not any more, I particularly enjoyed when he said “don’t think we’ve utilized all the space”
I love you channel it answers all my sleeping questions in full lol
I'm buying a model 3 and living in it!
I love his videos so much
Very helpful. Thank you!
This is actually a super helpful video. With two prams and couple large suitcases it seems the boot is a problem in this car. SUV it is!
Thanks for the detailed overview! Regarding the frunk size, that language you've tried is not a standard carry on! Its noticeably thicker than the allowed size.
Good video about usable space in the car!!
Great Bjørn
I have not yet seen such big suit cases yet. I haven't experienced the glass roof of a Tesla yet, but from for example BMW panoramic roofs I don't like the cold feeling of the glass roof on the head. (cold falling down)
I have a Chevy Volt, and one of the BEST things about it is it is a hatchback. It just makes it so much more useful. Really bummed the model 3 is not a hatch.
Just wow, i'm very impressed with cargo space
I took my rear seat out! Then I undid the bolt holding the center rear seatbelts then folded them flat and replaced the bolt. This allows you to really flatter the rear back rest of the seat. The I made plywood frame and now complete!
Nice video
Haha, i laughed a lot, and agree with chasemyaccord, but very helpful video thank you!
Ty for this
Love this video. It shows the things that all the others don’t. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Excellent review. Drop the front passenger seat down and see if you can fit a 8 ft surfboard in the car.
Nice M3 in the back!
Bjorn, love your Tesla review videos but I’m confused about this series of model 3 videos. This car has a UK number/license plate, but we are now over a year later and still waiting for a release date on the UK model 3. How is this possible?
Can you do a video where you try to make the back seat more comfortable by adding a pilow or something to make the seating position higher
Hi Björn I just realised you will meet You You. I've seen part of his road trip in Europe. He's going up to north of Norway. Could you please suggest to You You, that he continues through Kiruna and Luleå and then back south through rest of Sweden. There are no Supercharger in Kiruna/Luleå, but there are free high speed charging at Coop in Kiruna and OKQ8 in Luleå. /Bernt
The front trunk is a perfect size for a emergency blanket, air compressor, charger, and a small basket for medical supplies (like bandaids)
It looks like I might be comfortable sleeping there. Maybe he would too if it's no bother to curl or lay diagonally to the interior. What about the split level between the seats and trunk floor? I suppose that could be taken care of with some cushion that somewhat levels it out like a ramp.
Can a very tall person be comfortable on the back seats? Does any space remain above the head? In the coupes behind you are uncomfortable. In this ? Thanks for the information
Good to know that I can do camping in a model 3. That is one more reason to get a 3 instead of an S.
Hallo Björn, when did Tesla change your battery from Model X ? Did you notice the km at this time? What was the reason for the replacement?
good to know that we can fit two large suite cases & 2 carry ons ...
Can you please post the width between the two inner isofix / latch / child seat holders for Model 3 and model S? This way we can compare the space for the middle seat, that is left when two child seats are installed using isofix / latch system. This value is the same regardless of the child seat you use and makes things comparable with other cars. Thanks! i.e the kia e-Niro has a rear seat bench width of 131cm (vs m3 with 130cm) and a isofix distance of 43cm. I pushed the seats out as far as possible when hooked up and measured the distance on the isofix holders.
Every review seems to show people are scared of damaging the frunk lid and even Tesla recommends using both hands always to close it. I wish they had made it a bit sturdier. Also, how thick is that all weather matt and could that have contributed to the hard luggage not fitting?
So.. is it safe to assume you guys probably didn't play a lot of Tetris back in the day? :P
Ps will all model 3s have glass full length roof?
That tall guy is so cute!
Interesting video.. Odd thing here, it is a left hand drive model with GB plates in America :) That is unusual set up?
Please do video that compare car dimensions and space of model 3 to C class. Thank you
Can you fit a fully-inflated twin-size or partially-inflated full-size mattress in the Model 3? If so, is the remaining vertical space comfortable?
Welcome to North America Bjorn! Please visit us in Western Canada some time!
Hey Bjorn, wish we had time to chat for a bit last time at the Dublin/CA charging station. If you still around and want to grab a cup of coffee(Peets or Philz) or milk tea, let me know?
I would have liked if you tried fitting a big Emaljunga stroler in the trunk. Also the tall person test was nice, but it would have been even greater if you tested it with big boned person (150kg+) also. Cheers.
This guy is flexin hard
Good Video I think its not for a big family car that one is the Model X 7 seat car this is more of a couples car with sometimes people in the back its nice 4 USBs in the car the cool thing about it is the screen in the center they can easy make it LHD or RHD car no funny placed buttons or the fuse box in the glove box on RHD cars
Those black wheels tho’!!!
The sedan form factor is really a big minus for practicality, in my case it might actually be a no go (but I haven't decided yet).
USB port for the passagers Nice!
Tesla should raise the front part of the seat to provide thigh support and leave the back part of the seat the same to preserve headroom.
Instant kidding: Björn love son much electric car that he s always try to see if it's possible to sleep in it.
Does the front passenger seat fold?
Wonder how the Y will be and how a refresh S and X will be
Good information. Next time test to fit a bike for a tall person without lowering the saddle.
Bjorn Look under the vents in the backseat ;) USB
First!! Love the Model 3 but I love all the models S 3 and X or S3X 😂😂😂

The frunk is not too useful anyway, particularly with the hood bending easily. Would be interesting to see if a bike would fit in the trunk (with the front wheel disconnected).

Joe Yardley Thanks for the hint. As expected, no problem with the front wheel off.
Under tigh support in the rear is painfully bad for passengers restricting this for very short journeys
My family and I are scheduled for a test drive this weekend. We’re really excited
This video has now convinced me to take my friends reservation and get the base $35K model! Cargo is definitely more than meets the eye. Hope they do not skimp on it too much besides battery
How many Morgans can you fit in there ?
What you your max range? And are you getting more than 300 miles on a charge?

stevo2509 I suspect it is a fake plate. Driving in the UK with it will be silly as we have ANPR (automatic number plate recognition) camera equipped police cars as well as static cameras on the road network. You stand a good chance of being stopped if it pings as a fake.......

Larry you obviously don't know anything about cars.
@8:00 The model 3 would be so much better as a sport SUV hatchback. It would have more storage than my Nissan Rogue and offer all night heat/AC for camping. In fact, since Ford switched from making cars to SUV's I think Tesla would be wise to follow suit.

Tesla is making a hatchback/crossover SUV called the model Y that will be available next year.

Never understood why travel with real "hard" luggage when traveling by car, since they take a lot of space and are impractical. Use "soft" luggage.
my very old mitsubishi 2000's model was biggest boot in sedans (Similar to camry). These days no ars have that kind of boot
Putting the battery in the floor helps a lot of thing but that low hip position would be uncomfortable for a lot of rear passengers on longer drives.
I don't really understand why they didn't just angle the front of the rear seat bottom up a bit more, that would help with thigh support. Still wouldn't be great, but would be better.
@mcplutt
6 жыл бұрын
That would limit cargo space when folded down. But they could have made the height adjustable.
@Boomer.Roberts
6 жыл бұрын
Ah, fair point. They also could've done the design where the rear seat bottom flips up/forward, then you fold down the seat backs, allowing them to probably still fold just as flat.
@Boomer.Roberts
6 жыл бұрын
earnmyturns it doesn't have to be angled all that much, just a few degrees.
Does Bjørn sport Rimowa luggage?
British plates! I wonder what he's going to do on the front wheel it gets here?
It would be realy useful if Tesla made the design of the frunk or the well in the trunk to take a full size spare wheel. The company I work for is going to be buying 2,600 cars this year. No Teslas on the allowable list due to no spare wheel and quality issues observed from Tesla owner vlogs. Tesla has to start appealing to fleet buyers.
What if you just put a angled/slanted pad under your knees for the backseat issue. Like this: i.imgur.com/EpCWuaX.jpg

That's what I was thinking. Doesn't seem that the seat is too low so much as that there's no thigh support. Sat in one at the Chicago showroom and, at 6'3" thought the same thing but didn't have enough time to really ruminate.

Curious. I have not read that any other place. I wonder how kids feel in them or how they handle car seats. I've seen a video with 3 cars seats back there.
You forgot to mention that you can move the steering wheel with the left button
rear seat height seems to be a problem....
is there a spare tire
They should have put the back seats higher since it’s possible with so much headroom left...

+Bjørn Nyland That does not explain why a HUD isn't a possible upgrade from Tesla Motors. The only reason not to offer it as an upgrade is that Tesla Motors want its buyers to get used to the centre screen arrangement, as it is a part of the chosen design, not a cost issue. To many people opting for a HUD would signal that Tesla and Elon Musk made a mistake. The only good thing about Tesla Motors not selling a HUD is that there will be more options for those who want a HUD in their Model 3, as I am sure several aftermarket suppliers will rise to meet the demand.
@kasmopaya2676
6 жыл бұрын
I think it has something to do with the "anti-sell" that is going on right now. For instance, no dual motor option yet, no small battery yet. Everything to hold back even more pre orders, they cant meet the demand anyway. Later when everything runs smooth in the Gigafactory the M3 will get AWD and probably a lot of other things like roof rack and HUD. Right now too many options would slow down the production line, they keep it as simple as possible. They learned from the Model X with too much, too fast. Talked to a BMW engineer the other day, he said HUD costs only about 20$ to produce, most of it is software. It shouldn't be too expensive to add. Could take some time, but i bet M3 will get HUD some day. Right now they want you to buy Model S or X, later the M3 will get much more interesting. PS: White interior option just leaked with pictures, just my point. M3 will get much more (interesting) options in the future. Right now its stripped down for max. production speed. kzread.info/dash/bejne/pp6CyayYe5fOorA.htmlm14s
