Omg joy I hate camping too but I’d love to do it in my future model 3

I want a setup for occasional stealth camping to avoid a night or two in sleazy motels. I got a cheap queen (?) air mattress from Walmart but it takes up a lot of room. An alternative is a yoga mat and blankets. If you're urban stealth camping, food isn't an issue since you're near fast food joints and markets. All you'll need is snacks. If you have a small igloo or insulated bag, freeze bottled water to do double duty as ice and drinking water. For hot morning coffee, fill a thermos with Starbucks or whatever the night before-- should at least warm to get you going in the morning. Hygiene: A must-have for stealth camping is a urine bottle with a secure cap. I put some PineSol in it. And are daily and sometimes 2x daily showers necessary? Until recently, most people got by with one Saturday Night Bath. Use baby wipes on your face and hands. A fluoride mouth rinse and flossing is less messy than brushing. I assume you have other basic necessities in the Tesla: FIrst aid kit, Kleenex, paper towels, flashlight, multi-tool, yada yada.

Much more reasonable in price, and I can also use it when my grandkids stay over so they stop arguing over who gets the blanket! 😂

I use a Milliard Tri Fold 4-inch-thick twin size foam mattress at 38" wide from Amazon. It retails around $100 to 120. Very comfortable. I've used it in my previously car, the Lexus RX SUV, and the current Tesla model S LR. One time I drove from Miami and the Everglades FL, to Loveland CO, and then back to the Bay Area CA. I alternated between sleeping in the car and hotels. Even stayed at a camp site where I was able to charge overnight. One of my favorite things to do is to visit great breakfast places in different towns and cities along the way. I'm not ready to go full RV or Van life, but sleeping in a car is so far just fine :) Btw, the Tesla's Camp mode is wonderful but it disables Sentry so if you care to have it, don't forget to manually turn it back on.

I did sleep in my eGolf, before I got Model 3. I would probably have slept in my Model 3 this summer, but due to unfortunate circumstances this year I decided to spend the summer at my secondary home, and not travel arround

just got mattress for my model 3! cant wait to do some trips!!

So I love your videos, but I would never do this because I travel with to much luggage & all my luggage would have to be taken out of the car & exposed to the elements, so I could never do this with my Tesla Model 3, however, it’s nice to know that there’s an alternative if somehow I was traveling in an area where there weren’t any 5 star hotels & also I like showers in the morning & room service at night! So thanks for posting the video & as always thank you for keeping us informed about just how great our Tesla cars are!

Tesla Joy Did you feel closed in? I am not the type to be bothered by tight spaces. I’ve actually slept under a rack inside an ammunition carrier when I was in the Army. Not the brightest idea, but when you’re in the field, you always look for a place to sleep and I hate sleeping while sitting upright.

Can you make a video about your power trunk? I need it done in my 2020 Model 3. My boyfriend doesn't know how to close my trunk or door properly. I always have to step out and close it for him which can be so annoying.

I don’t think there’s an app for where to sleep in your car. I’ve done Tesla camping at Kettleman City supercharger and at 2 church retreats so far. 2 people could fit but it would be crammed unless you have a Model S/X/Y. I have videos on sleeping in my Model 3 on the channel.

Good find on that affordable mattress! Does it fit two adults?

I wonder if you could accidentally press the emergency trunk release button in your sleep and wake up to an open trunk lid. I could see the green light of the button in the video. It would be easy to cover the button with a piece of cardboard, when using the bed.

No you can’t. That emergency trunk release isn’t a “push” button.

How come that you have a power lift gate? Was that an option? I don't remember there is such an option.

Is the trunk in Model 3 motorized? Memory foam is nice but for portability I would think inflatable is the way to go. you could also combine yours with an inflatable, then it might be as good as a real bed. To be fancy the inflatable would compensate for the tilt in the seat backs. And of course Tesla should offer such products. They could also do foretents with solar roof and high tech cook top and mains outlet from the car. I think that would be good brand building

​@@TeslaJoy an air mattress can only slide so far in the car if you think about it :) if you do a sleeping video, bring one and try without first, then add the air under the memory foam. I'm pretty sure you'll love it. As good as memory foam is, just 3 inches isn't enough, even for an asian woman :)

No I specifically looked for one piece roll up mattress instead of something that’s broken into pieces. I’m very sensitive to bedding and wouldn’t be able to sleep if I feel the seams.

It’s not that big of an incline. I’m very sensitive with an incline position as well but found I was able to sleep comfortably without sliding down all night. If it bothers you, then remove the rear seat bench.
