The late night driving is extortion. Late night the roads are not crowded and highways are lit. I've had a lot more close calls in the afternoon traffic commuting.

My driving score is 72, primarily due to night driving as I work the night shift. I frequently receive forward collision warnings, even though I am yielding for the oncoming traffic since the road was very tight. however current tesla insurance is still considerably more affordable compared to other insurance companies. Other insurers have quoted me nearly $300.

I'm glad it's still cheaper than other options. I really dislike some of the metrics and data Tesla insurance uses. Some of them aren't even that accurate, but it's hard to beat a cheaper policy.

Tesla insurance is cheaper but unfortunately customer service is horrible

The forward collation score is my most frustrating part about tesla insurance. There is an intersection on the highway of my commute where crossing traffic have to use a flashing red light and yield before crossing. My tesla panics almost every single time no matter how far the crossing vehicles is.

So out of curiosity will Tesla have a diversity of risk issue. Generally insurance companies build a portfolio that's balanced that's why they do business in many geographic areas. For example if you insure Teslas, Ford's, Chevys and Volvos then if Teslas turn out to have a faulty locking mechanism that causes them to be easily broken into we may only pay for car break ins under comprehensive on a quarter of our insured book of business. But If we only insure Teslas we're exposed to the same risk across the whole book of business.

It probably will. It depends on each person’s driving record.

I also obtained Tesla auto insurance after purchasing a MY LR. However, driver unpredictability and "unsafe" following tended to lower the score through no fault of mine. The Tesla insurance software monitoring works well however, it needs updating.

Yeah there's not much you can do about that. If you're on the freeway going over 50 while still leaving space, a random driver can merge into your lane and boom "unsafe following". If you randomly hop on the freeway to exit right away, a second or 2 of unsafe following could tank your score for the day if you don't drive over 50 mph behind someone else. It all averages itself out though. My gf doesn't even look at her safety score and just pays the amount each month. Usually it's around $107-138 which is significantly cheaper than the $300+ a month Geico, State Farm, State Auto (they wanted $411 a month), and Progressive wanted to charge her for being an 18 year old driver in Texas. It's still significantly cheaper for her to use Tesla Insurance and have similar or better coverage compared to what she would pay with the other insurance companies.

Be clear though. Other insurers are making assumptions on all these issues based on what they no. Hence some indirect aspects like age are correlated with speed and competence. Tesla makes more informed suggedtions. Not 100% informed but way wsy mire informed due vision data. When cutting and dicing them on points you think might be incorrect that the alternatives are 100% wrong because they do not know anything about your driving.

Go $$ yourself Tesla Insurance! I went through the same experience especially the false front collision warning. My rate went from $200 $285 $344 in a 3 month period even though I was extra careful on that last month. I talked with my Insurance Agent who told me her clients have issues with Tesla Insurance where they were scare to even drive their car cause they are afraid they will do something wrong that cause the ding. I don't need an AI to tell me how should drive when I know I'm a good driver.

Im all set with getting gaslit by the insurance company. Its one price, standard coverage. Not “you deove the car at night to work huh!? Well have to bump up your rate.” To many metrics overlap, no matter what ykh do your doing something wrong. Especially the early collision warning, it should be against the law for tesla to use that system to strike your policy. Tesla is pulling “non surchargable events right out of their circuit board. Little put off by this model. It does not fit.

This video is false. They don't do the safety score to determine what your insurance premium will be. If you go into the app, it tells you that.
