Tesla Factory Flyover - Fremont - 6/29/2018 4k

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

1 day before Quarter end and the Big Model 3 Push is on. Factory Flyover in Fremont, CA of the Tesla Motors Factory. As always some changes - The Big Tent (Model 3 GA4), The former North buffer lot is now basically logistics and GA4 (tent). Compare to the April video. The South Lot is now Tesla Outbound Logistics Yard and appears to be the only place they're shipping from. They seem to be using some of the test track skidpad area for final QA, and everything is just more jam packed. Lots of trucks in and out, lots of action. This was recorded at about 6:15PM local time on Friday the 29th. It appears as if there is a shift change going on (lots of people being bused to the employee parking lot by the test track).
As always, If you enjoy these, subscribe! If you don't then you wont know when there is a new one!

    Why aren't they using the rail connection at the factory? Seems like with all the trouble they've had on actually delivering the Model 3, they could have made good use of the built-in rail facilities that they already had.

    Also noticed @3:22, that the railways access into the Tesla property has been partially dismantled. Why aren't they using rail for shipping and receiving?

    Steffen Frost it is not as efficient as a car haulier going from point a to point B with demanding the new purchaser of a tesla to meet at a specific location to pick up the vehicle. Tesla doesn't deliver vehicles, you come and pick up your tesla LOL ballsey LOVE IT!

    So what about people receiving Teslas on the East coast? It would be cheaper by train. I work at a Ford plant and the trains are used a lot to ship vans and trucks all over the US as the most efficient price. Is Tesla only delivering vehicles in California? I was not under that impression.

    Maybe trucks are just more flexible. And the Tesla semi is coming, which in convoy mode will be cheaper than rail.

    There is a massive car shipment facility 37 miles north in Richmond, CA on the bay. Tesla uses it. It has docks loading/unloading cars onto ships. A rail yard for loading/unloading cars onto trains. Also Truck area and massive car parking lots. -Kurt

    When you do your next flyover check out the construction north of the plant. The area beyond the tent assembly line. Half the land was part of the Tesla factory. I don't see Tesla giving up any land adjacent to the factory except under gun point. So I suspect it is for new Tesla facilities.

    there are 3 lines to make 5000 model 3 cars each line only needs to finish a car every 16min this video is less than 8min in total so there is a high chance of not seeing a car come out

    Hi Hobbies. Body shells would most likely be brought in with big intervals. Same with the final Model 3 rolling off the line. Lets assume GA4 (Dual Motor production in the tent) was 50% of Model 3 GA in the last week (Tesla didn't posses enough AWD VINs for 2.500 AWD at that time, but just to be conservative about production time). At 5000/week thats about 15 per hour, or one every 4 minutes. We can see the production line exit point more or less from 04:18 in the video. At 05:08 we see a black Model 3 slowly driving just outside the exit point, turning towards the storing area and test track, seems extremely likely it's coming from the line. On a continous basis we see several Model 3's waiting and doing brake testing on the track. We are definitely seeing a high production environment here.

    Classic look during manufacturing ramp. As you install new equipment old equipment gets stacked about. Increase in run challenges space to put it. Input materials storage takes more space. ♠The Model 3 will become a classic.....easily going 500k. At 500k battery degradation is only 13%.

    Well many cars have gone 500,000 miles and a lot more. There was a Saab owner who bought one New and went over 1,000,000 miles. But very few people will ever go 500,000 in any car before they are bored. Imagine driving every day 100 miles. Now do that for 15 years.

    Actually not many cars go over 500K or even 100K. Some do, but those are the exceptions. Most of the time over 100-200K miles maintenance just gets too expensive. Once a single repair costs more than what the car worth, it doesn't make sense to keep it operational. Modern cars especially have this issue, as engines are getting more and more complex and expensive to fix. Plus manufacturers doesn't really want you to keep your car for 20 years, they wan to sell you a new one as soon as you can afford it, so they don't go out of their way to make their cars last. EVs on the other hand are naturally very durable, since they have barely any moving parts. Only battery degradation can be a problem, but that's not the case with Teslas.

  • @wphubert

    @wphubert

    6 жыл бұрын

    Still the point is many owners of all cars trade them and move on long before the effective lifespan is up. This also true of many Tesla owners, some who just get the same model again, but with fewer miles. The logic computing cost versus value is secondary for most buyers who look for new and different.

  • @snitox

    @snitox

    It is operational. I think it's not meant to be a permanent fixture. It's just to carry the overload when a bunch of them doesn't pass quality control. They are perfectionists. So I guess there are times when a lot of them fail quality control at the same time which hold up the line inside the factory.

  • @andrasbiro3007

    Yes the tent was needed to reach their goal, at least that's what I heard. They are building new configurations there, like the AWD and performance versions. But the point is to build as much as possible, doesn't matter how, because that brings profit and confidence of the investors.

    You eyes doesn't work well then. I see hundreds of cars in the parking lots. Also cars are meant to be sold, not displayed for drone videos. And the trash thing is a myth, they are not generating more waste than the industry average, that was confirmed by experts. And you may not heard, but last week they made 5000 Model and 7000 cars in total. And that's still like 30% of the factory's full capacity. With the extra production line the theoretical maximum is 850,000 per year.

All I know is Tesla is financially bankrupt and they cant make any money on them... Q2 financials are going to be a blood bath and good luck thinking that Tesla can produce 800k vehicles this year... Took a big ass tent for them to reach 5,000 burst rate... And to do it they had to remove 300 spot welds and not do braking tests... What a cirrcus...
