There has been numerous reports with both vehicles, specificallly the Rivian because of a whole in the truck that lets rock and such fall into the undercarriage.

@@butwhataboutemma I've seen two types of issues with the stainless panels and rust, the most common is particulates that stick to the panels which wash off and another is at the edges of damaged panels. It's unclear if the panels themselves are the source of the rust or if the rust is from whatever damaged it. Either issue is not particular to the cybertruck though.

Happy 2023 Rivian R1T Owner (We also have a Model Y). I would have to guess that we were one of the early Dual Motor Performance, Max battery packs. We have not had a single issue with the truck. My wife is in love with our Ocean Coast Interior. The software has continued to make major improvements through OTA updates. Even though it is the dual motor performance and not the Quad Motor, it is an absolute blast to drive; I’m not sure anyone should be able to go to fast in 3 ton pick-up truck but it sure is fun. Have not had a chance to take it off-road yet but hoping to make a specific trip to do so later this summer. The opening of the Tesla Supercharger network to Rivian owners is a huge plus for road trips but we have had fairly good luck with CCS during the few times we needed it. My wife loves her Model Y but it is not nearly the quality of vehicle as the Rivian, nor should it be for the price. The Rivian community has been welcoming and fabulous. We look forward to trading in our Model Y for an R2 when our reservation allocation becomes available.

With regard to towing, the Rivian R1T has 2 big advantages. 1) The maximum available EPA range is 410 miles, significantly more than the 340 miles for the Cybertruck. 2) The charge port is in the front so you rarely have to unhitch the trailer to recharge.

Hope you get to do another video once you drive the cyber truck because you have a bias towards the R1T because of your experience in it. You forgot to mention the four wheel steering & drive by wire variable steering, and that there were more cyber truck registrations in April than Rivian's R1T truck.

I really like my RT1 however the frequent trips to the service center gets old. Screen replaced, steering wheel replaced, gear tunnel trim replaced, speaker out, alignment is a constant issue. My concern is when its out of warranty so i will probably need to abandon before it gets to that point

Drive by wire is great at lower speeds but on the highway I find it unpredictable. It takes a lot of getting used to, but even those who have owned it for months say at highway speeds the steering adjustments don’t feel quite right.

I test drove a Rivian, they make nice vehicles but they’re losing money fast, they need to pull cost out of there cars or they’re going to bankrupt before they can launch the R2 (which won’t cost $45k)

Just to be clear, Rivian has no profits. No future expectation of a profit. Rivian's CEO gives these lawyer-provided answers without ever saying Rivian has no timeline of ever making a profit. Should be outlawed. As an illustrative example, per the 2Q23 conf call, questioned about profits, CEO RJ Scaringe only said he wants to continue " . . . driving costs down across the business on our path to profitability." Analysts kept asking but when actual profits. Rivian just kept repeating these pre-scripted non-answers. In the 3Q23 earnings call, Rivian deceptively kept repeating they would have a "gross profit." Which means profit before expenses. Which also means net losses and no GAAP profit. Since the history of mankind, all businesses which can't generate a profit go bankrupt. Rivian will be no exception. If I'm wrong, please provide a link showing where Rivian says it will turn the corner and become profitable on GAAP basis. No one can do that. Then explain how net loss was $1.2 bill (2Q23), $1.4 bill (3Q23), $1.5 bill (4Q23) and $1.4 bill (1Q24). Like all companies with billion $$ recurring quarterly losses, Rivian will probably go Chapter 11 in 2Q25

"Gross Profit" is not profit before expenses, that's just revenue. Gross profit revenue minus COGS (you know...an expense), which is yet still different than Net profit. Also, there are plenty of businesses that spend years growing and expanding before turning a profit. Uber turned their first profit just last year after going public in 2019 (5 years ago) and after launching in 2009 (15 years ago). Amazon didn't turn a profit for 9 years after founding, 7 years after going public. Tesla wasn't profitable for SEVENTEEN YEARS. Zillow has lost money every year since 2012. So I guess my question is...what the hell are you talking about?
