I was still on Active Duty in the Army Reserves when this game was played. We had drill that Saturday and didn't get to see the game. On my way home, I saw that Bama had beaten them 12-10. I was like "Ok, Bama squeezed out a close one. Little did I know .........".

BasedHysteric HD existed in 09 lol. Although this probably went through a converter, I do remember this game (especially on CBS) looking crystal clear. They have great cameras.

Scott Hollon have you seen the sideline still picture of this play? If Cody somehow missed the ball, I’d bet everything I’ve got that Julio Jones still knocks it out of the air! His feet are AT LEAST 4.5 feet off of the ground and his arms are at full extension. That’s 6’5”(his height)plus 4’6”(elevation from ground) plus maybe 3’6”(arms). That’s a total of 14’5”!!!!! I love the sound the ball made when it hit Cody’s mitt!

I fell so blessed that I was able to watch this game live. At age 17 I've never witnessed a blocked field goal that determined the winner of the game. Roll Tide!

Hey, I was 18 and I'll always remember how great it was when this happened how loud my house got. Such great times man.

sec on cbs does such a great job of capturing the moment after the game. the wide aerial shot as the final score comes up is an sec on cbs staple.

You could feel the passion from Cody. He wanted this more than anything. All he could do was drop to his knees and cry. So much passion and intensity, and love for Alabama. This was him paying all of us back for the support and love for him, and I couldn't be happier for him that he's doing it big in the NFL now. You'll never see anyone fight harder than he did to get where he is. He deserves all the glory. Total class act.

Reed Naylor. you don't have to like him, but the charges are kinda silly. He left his animals in the care of someone he thought they were safe with while he was on the road.

Wow! I was at this game, my heart was beating so fast. Because Bama was undefeated and I didn't want another 2008. #RollTide

This was one of the moments that truly got me deep into football. I remember watching this with my family and friends at a watch party. I will never forget that moment ever.

2021, 3rd Saturday in October and I had to hop in the time machine and see the game, and the play that set everything in motion. The chills I get rewatching this……

Ahhh...i remember these days. Back when we could actually stop someone on 3rd down.

I’ve been going to Bama games since 1999. Luckily got tickets to this game. Greatest experience I could’ve ever asked for, and I’ll always remember sharing this moment with my dad and brothers. I hope to one day have an experience like this with my daughter. Roll tide..

I was at this game. Just a few weeks before deploying to Afghanistan, my dad surprised me with tickets. I worked in the Marine Corps air wing, working on radar and radios, and i've stood on the flight line as F-18's took off on afterburner, and i could swear the stadium was even louder than that. When Cody blocked that field goal, you could feel the wave of noise come out of the crowd, it was simply unbelieveable.

I had swine flu during this game. I've never felt so terrible and wonderful at the same time

Gary Danielson actually had a great analogy for this game. It was the closest to an nfl game Saban played against that year. Tennessee almost beat Florida earlier that year as well

I’m right now playing for the school Terrence Cody played for Riverdale High School in Florida we 8-0 btw and became district champs just yesterday

Years ago, I still stand up and scream every time Mt. Cody makes those 2 blocks! I lost my voice at that game, and i had never screamed the rammer jammer so loud in my life before that. Roll Tide! Mac Jones for Heisman!

As a 48 year old die hard Bama fan, 2009 is one of if not my favorite Bama Teams of all time. RTR Terrence. Without that block, we probably aren't National Champs that year.

I have a lot of respect for Tennessee and I love when Alabama and the Vols meet. This was one of the best games I have ever witnessed in this rivalry. Gotta love SEC football. RTR.

A full 41 seconds between the last playcall (1:59) and any extra word from the booth. They just let the atmosphere of the place consume the broadcast. Gives you a small hint of what it must have been like to be there. God, I’m going to miss CBS.

Having Vern call this game and that moment made it 1000 times better

This is probably the best video on KZread to show someone if they want to see the overall intensity and passion of SEC football.

I remember my mother (an avid Alabama fan) walking out of the room muttering words that might have been a new language right before the kick. My Dad and I were the only ones who stuck around to see it live. It was a great moment!

I never forget that one of the best all time moments in the nick Saban era that's simply amazing.

That 2009 Bama team had so much heart man. The previous season Florida beat Bama in the SEC championship, and Alabama was determined to get back and they did just that and then some. RTR

I am so glad I was in the student section of that game, right behind the goal post. 100% the best moment I ever experienced as a student.

I was coming home from work and had to pull over, when cody blocked the field goal i knocked my rear view mirror off, safe to say i put it back on with a huge smile on my face, and a cigar hanging out of my mouth. RTR!!!!

Regardless if Tennessee would have picked the ball up, Terrance Cody took his helmet off with a live ball still in play. It should have been a fifteen yard penalty and one untimed down for Tennessee to try to win the game

I remember watching this game and being in such disbelief. So close, so damn close.

This is why I love Saturday's in the south. Roll Tide.

i remeber this exact monent i was setting on the couch wacthing the game and so nervous when cody blocked i went outside screamin we one it we one it roll tide over and over again

I got to meet CJ, my friends older brother works at a club they go to and he's friend with them, one day he stopped by to eat dinner (I was eating with them) and CJ came with him and I got to meet him and eat dinner with him. It was awesome. You would have never of known he was the defensive leader for Alabama.

This is why Cody is still my favorite football player to this day.

I was convinced when he was first hired but now I’m sold on the thought Lee Kiffin might have been one of the best OC for Alabama. He was/is consistent w/ his play calling as a coordinator (outside of Mike Locksley) for the offense and knew how to turn negative plays into positive ones. Kiffin somehow knew how to surprise opposing defenses. I think he’s more of a brilliant coordinator than head coaching. Did have a good season @ FAU I hope it continues.

They were lined up to kick the field goal. I got to the bathroom and come back and here "Alabama wins"!!

you must be one of those new fans, this play saved our season in 09 as well as that throw but this moment was a lot more tense imo and had a lot to do with where we are right now.

I remember I was at the place called BJ's Sports Bar. It had two levels. Alabama on first floor and Tennessee on the second. When this moment happened, omg, it was a full out fight

Being raider fan i dont know whats better seeing kiffen owned or seeing cody ( our next 2nd round pick ) own kiffen. Wishing for Mcclain and Cody to oakland in april!

I was there, Mt. Cody was crying like a girl after that block, and deservedly so...he was a throwaway player until Bama gave him a second chance, a friend of mine was in admin at Miss. Gulf Coast JC and dealt with him....Saban was his last stop before who knows where.... now he is legendary...MOUNT CODY!~

I'm not an Alabama fan but I was there for that game and I honestly sang Rammer Jammer as loud as I could. There's no better atmosphere in college football than Bryant-Denny Stadium.

As far as regular season games this has to be a top 3 or top 5 moment in Sabans time at Alabama

Someone on another post informed me this could have been the only ball he has dropped at Bama. I don't know that for a fact as I do not recall last year's stats. But, it would not surprise me! I do not expect light running backs to fumble but someone that runs as hard as he...this is amazing. Best RB I have seen at Bama since Musso! :)

I wish Michigan did that at Iowa

I watch this once every few months to get motivated. Hanging in my dinning room i have two pictures: one Is the photograph of the block, the other the painting of the block, side by side to each other. One day, decades from now, they will look at this one play and discuss all the things that came from it. Historically speaking, there may never be a more important single play in college football history. Look at all the things that have transpired, JUST because Alabama has come back to dominance
