The Time Tim Tebow Beat #1 Alabama

Спорт

The Florida Gators faced the Alabama Crimson Tide in the 2008 SEC Championship game. With both rosters full of future NFL stars this game did not disappoint. Led by QB Tim Tebow, the Gators were able to come out on top of the Tide. Tebow threw a touchdown pass to Riley Cooper late in the fourth quarter to seal the win. Tim Tebow finished the game going 14-22 for 216 yards and three touchdowns. In addition he had 17 carries for 57 yards.

It was peak SEC dominance. When people said SEC defense it really meant something. In my opinion it accelerated everyone to move to the spread attack. It didn’t matter that you could grind other ACC Big 10 or PAC 10 teams into submission, eventually you were going to come up against an SEC defense that would just mercilessly bust you up

The SEC is still as good or better. Everyone is just a Dawg now so not many players are dominant anymore and Clemson snags more of the better recruits in the area now. They should be SEC tho. Everyone forgot about Tebow when Cam, Manzeil, and Burrow were doing their thing.

As a LSU fan 2008 vs UF was one of my favorite of all time, but I hated UF and playing UF during the Tebow years. Dude was like the Tom Brady of college football. UF was a beast every year. Staunch defense and wide open offense with tons of athletes. Unlike Bama who relied on a game manager, one star WR and a 1-2 big backs carrying the run game, UF was versatile AF. Tebow was pretty much a QB and fullback and Rainey and Demps were small speedsters that were great complements to a power runner like Tebow. Cooper, Murphy, and Hernandez was a trio of future NFL starters, and Percy Harvin was the X factor that you put all over the offense.

Currently, this is the only sec title game Nick Saban has lost in his career. He is currently 9-1. (I am a bama fan by the way). That Florida team was amazing. To me this game just showed that bama was almost there but not quite. I really think losing this game gave bama the edge they needed in 09.
