    They should of just kept the Manley Rods & ARP studs & bolts, All they had to do was add it to the end cost of the car. People would of paid an extra $1,000 - $1,500 to have forged rods & Bolts in all the Cobra engines even the 5.2 GT500 engine. I know I would of happily shelled out the extra coin for the rigidity of the bottom end.

    Hello could you use those Manley Rod's and pistons in a regular 4.6 Romeo motor (1998)? Have good day . thanks

    Yes... ish, provided the pistons meet the exact clearance requirements of the bore. There were 3 grades on the run-of-the-mill mod motors during manufacturing, with very minute differences in bore sizes due to machining tolerances, and the pistons were then chosen based on the closest matching bore size. The hand-built engines met a far more stringent manufacturing standard and were only offered in one grade. If your block has an exact bore size of 3.552", then dropping them in shouldn't be a problem. Mahle makes a very nice budget set of forged OEM replacement pistons (www.us.mahle.com/media/usa/motorsports/ford-modular-2-valve-or-4-valve-2020-web.pdf) that would drop into a stock bore, or a .020" overbore available in 18cc dish or flat top, giving you new parts with the option of a precise bore and flexibility on compression. If you're using that on a non-pi head, your compression would be in the low 9.x:1 range, and the flat tops would put you closer to 12:1. Also note, any changes in piston/rods requires a crank balance.

    Hi Danny....was thinking...you should consider getting 4:10 gears for your Cobra..that’s what I have and @ 70 mph..I can get 100 mi to a 1/4 tank...but man does it spool up quick...just saying...you would love it....

    Hey Danny, I've got that hesitation when i lift, shift, then go back full throttle. It's like a little delay, then power comes in like a hammer. I've got the pullied Eaton and boost a pump. I was thinking of deleting the check valve. What's your thoughts? The hesitation is intense and seems like it may not be good for the car.

    Yeah, most likely the PPRV (positive pressure relief valve) in the fuel tank. If you remove it you can often have hard starting (takes a few times) but there are kits out there for it. Mine does it as well, so something that helps a little is not letting off the throttle between shifts so the flow doesn’t stop. You’ll hear me do it in this video below

    Another tid-bit is that the dish on the terminator and the PI 2v were both at 17cc, along with bore, stroke, rod length, deck height and compression height, making the shortblocks dimensionally identical, with the compression difference being in the combustion chambers.

    @@dannyjohnsonsgarage heck yea! I learned that while doing research on forged shortblocks, including the feasibility of putting a terminator short block into a 2v, because shortblocks were available when I was putting together a build list for my car before I ended up doing the full terminator swap.

    Which block can handle more power, the WAP block found on the terminators or the Teksid block?

  • @dannyjohnsonsgarage

    @dannyjohnsonsgarage

    3 жыл бұрын

    Teksid can handle more. It’s heat treated and higher quality from the same company Ferrari uses, but not many people will surpass the needs of a wap either. If Ford had not gone to WAP it would have been cool for the terminator to have had teksid over iron.

    Windage losses, you’d lose horsepower and torque with the heavier rod. The modern N/A 5.0 rod and 5.2 Predator rods are vastly stronger than the old 4.6 rods. Sinter forging has come a long way since the 2000s.
