Ten Years of Refinement: Scratch-Built Custom Dalek Collection, 2013-2023

This is, believe it or not, an incredibly abridged representation of my attempts at making custom Dalek models. I made quite a lot of these, probably somewhere around 200 in total, though I haven’t done an exact count in a very long time. I have multiple big storage buckets filled to the brim with tattered old papercraft Daleks, each batch being their own little time capsule of memories about what I was doing at that time.
It’s a hobby that has lasted me a decade so far, and I still find it rewarding and relaxing even now. There’s nothing quite like seeing your own improvement, and when you have a timespan like this, it’s especially visible. I can take a look at one of my early ones and compare to the ones I make now, and allow myself a pat on the back.
The timeline is a little more condensed than the lineup might make it seem: The time between me starting off and arriving at what I can now confidently call the 'final form' of these models was only the first four or five years, since then I’ve just been continuing to make more with all the same techniques.

These are honestly amazing, seeing all of the different versions you came up with really feels like travelling through time, I can't imagine all of the time you spent studying, thinking, coming up with new building method ideas for them!
Dude these are awesome. I’m glad it’s been a rewarding hobby for you and hope it continues to be! I recently made a mini k-9 from clay and wire and I can see this kind of thing easily becoming addicting :D

Davros would be proud. Well, at least I think he would be. He was paranoid enough to keep a personal shield on his chair, so I think the influx of Daleks would probably increase the paranoia. Regardless, keep up the great work!

I’ve made a few 3D printed Daleks too, which are 3D models in a sense! I have eight in the 1970s style, and five Security Drone Daleks from ‘Revolution’. Both of these batches will get their own videos at some point.
