Not used to complaints from downstairs neighbors when you walk around on the creaky floor the landlord refuses to fix or stepping outside at night not to crickets chirping but a methhead writhing on the street and shrieking. If you get a whole freaking apartment to yourself that's big enough for another adult AND a kid for only $1700 usd in freaking *New York* then what on God's green earth is Toronto's excuse.
@CaptainEdMercer

He mentioned it was a one bedroom very small apartment. If you look up studio apartments in new york on youtube, they're basically the side of a small room and thats the entire thing. Very depressing way to live but sadly rent is out of control in many places.
@catherinelempke8451
2 жыл бұрын
That's my point, my friend. In Toronto, you can easily find yourself paying $1700 to *share* a small apartment, and Toronto does not quite have all the cultural attractions of New York, and definitely not its excellent public transit system.
@CaptainEdMercer

@@catherinelempke8451 oh I see. Lol didn't notice. Yea it is terrible that in order to live somewhere like that you need room mates. I live in California and unless someone is wealthy or lives with their family, they always need like 3 or 4 room mates per household minimum. And even then it's like $800 per room mate. Plus utilities and food. Also weird rules for the kitchen and stuff. Not really a home atmosphere. It's so sad.

@catherinelempke8451
2 жыл бұрын
@@Kraiden I think our groceries and cell service/internet service is more expensive, but I don't think the property taxes in Toronto could possibly be higher than in somewhere like New York... And even then, property taxes go to municipal governments, whereas healthcare is funded by the provinces. So, I don't *think* that's how that food chain works, especially because Quebec has the highest provincial taxes in the country (and such cheap tuition because of it!) but some of the most consistently reasonable rent prices in their major cities. Provincial taxes are also high in Nova Scotia, but property was dirt cheap until COVID hit and all the Torontonians started moving in.

Out in the boonies, Wyoming, you can get around 400 dollars rent. In Chattanooga, 1700 rent is like a 2-bedroom apartment, and they have several concert venues, decent eating, night clubs, skating rinks... anyway, I went to a convention there once, and there was a lot more stuff to do there than there was in nowhere, Wyoming. Now, the thing about having things to do in a location is that you have to go outside in order to even know what exactly is there, so in an online space like this, there are inevitably people here in New York who never go outside and so have no place to speak, along with Tennessee residents who actually think there's nothing to do because the online person says so, even though all it takes to see the truth for themselves is to go outside on weekends.

Actually some cities in some states have more well priced apartments (they are often affordable because most renters are able to save up enough money to buy a house). So just because someone lives outside a big city like NYC or LA, doesn’t mean they’re all country bumpkins
Ironically rent in Chattanooga is about 1200-1800 now for a 1 bedroom

If you get a whole freaking apartment to yourself that's big enough for another adult AND a kid for only $1700 usd in freaking *New York* then what on God's green earth is Toronto's excuse.
@CaptainEdMercer
2 жыл бұрын
He mentioned it was a one bedroom very small apartment. If you look up studio apartments in new york on youtube, they're basically the side of a small room and thats the entire thing. Very depressing way to live but sadly rent is out of control in many places.
@catherinelempke8451
2 жыл бұрын
That's my point, my friend. In Toronto, you can easily find yourself paying $1700 to *share* a small apartment, and Toronto does not quite have all the cultural attractions of New York, and definitely not its excellent public transit system.
@CaptainEdMercer
2 жыл бұрын
@@catherinelempke8451 oh I see. Lol didn't notice. Yea it is terrible that in order to live somewhere like that you need room mates. I live in California and unless someone is wealthy or lives with their family, they always need like 3 or 4 room mates per household minimum. And even then it's like $800 per room mate. Plus utilities and food. Also weird rules for the kitchen and stuff. Not really a home atmosphere. It's so sad.

@@catherinelempke8451 Toronto? Canada? Could it possibly be because of the higher taxes and cost of living due to free healthcare? I don't know just wondering. Is Canada more expensive overall?
@catherinelempke8451
