Price: $1,025 each
Website - FB Marketplace
Where I Purchased - I traveled 40 minutes south and met a really nice guy, who traded me for my SVS SB-16 Ultra.
Listed Price SVS SB16 Ultra - $1,200
Price Paid - Traded straight up, for the SVS SB16 Ultra.
Quality - 9.5
Built like tanks! You can tell when you go attempt to lift these 88 pound towers.
High quality speaker components, paint job and binding posts. There’s just no doubt of the build quality. I just love that they are made in the USA.
Sound - 10
It takes quite a bit to get me to swap out my regular audio equipment but after listening to these speakers for a week or so, I’m considering keeping them and completing the 7 speaker set. Unfortunately, this will need to happen at a later date as I just don’t have room for such large and awesome towers.
The details and the soundstage are truly remarkable. These are by far the easiest to setup speakers I have ever owned.
It’s going to be hard to let these babies go, but as they say, the show must go on..
MSRP Rating - 9.5
After all of the awesome speakers I have owned over the last 20 or so years, these are the best sounding speakers so far. Quite a statement.
Many of the speakers I have owned, have cost double the MSRP of $1,025 and they sometimes go on sale for under $900 ea. Crazy good speakers for this price point!
Aesthetics - 8.5
I would have rated these speakers higher here but there’s just no gettin around the fact that they are 55 inches tall.
The paint job is high quality and they do present a commanding presence so in a larger room, they would have scored a little better.
Not that 8.5 is a bad score or anything.
Price Paid Value - 8.0
This was far from my greatest deal ever but after hearing these babies, I quickly forgot about the money I lost on the trade, which was about $260, with the SB16 Ultra trade.
Still happy I had a chance to own these, even at $1,200. I would make the trade again today, which is always a good feeling.

Great channel, just found you today and I like your emphasis is on trying gear out and getting deals. I was able to audition the Double Impacts a couple of years ago and was blown away (and that’s not easy for someone who’s been in this hobby since the 80’s). I’m in the process of my second dedicated home theater build and I’m eyeing three Tekton Encores behind an AT screen. I knew there are some that are critical of Tekton, but it seems to come down to two issues: -not bright enough (or detailed or sharp). -the cosmetics aren’t what some people want. They want a great sounding speaker AND a great piece of furniture) Anyway, they check all the boxes for me and it was great to have an experienced ear such as yours confirm the sound quality of the brand.

Ok now I've had time to watch the video. Dude, now you've got me looking at Tekton Pendragons for my next speakers. Looking forward to the dd12 review. I had one about 10 years ago and regret getting selling it. Also, I suggest playing the artful escape on xbox, it's on gamepass. Fantastic visuals and the audio is awesome!!

So glad you're back, I was worried that you quit. I know they'll be hard to find and be expensive, but I'd love for you to find a set of Klipsch PALLADIUM speakers, there's very little information on these available, and they where a interesting experiment by Klipsch back in the day.

I've had my eyes on Pendragons for a while. Haven't heard them in person but the sound reviewed really seems to be in my wheelhouse. Big bass, big dynamic sound, clean mids, smooth highs, non-fatiguing. What's not to like. May even prefer these to the Double Impacts! Need to get my ears on these, lol! Nice review!

Donbusto - From what Jay (another reviewer said,) the DI's aren't the Pens on steroids. It's a different speaker and Eric Alexander confirmed it. The DI is more of an audiophile speaker whereas the Pen is more a relaxed, meatier bass speaker. I'd go with the Pens and the array. (Although that 2 ohm version...not looking too bad.)

@@blazermdx I love them. I thought I was prepared for how large they were but was still shocked once they were here. LOL Admittedly, I don't have refined ears and haven't listened to a lot of different speakers. I had Cerwin Vega SL 12's and they sounded good to me but I wanted something better with more detail. These definitely have that. The only time I ever plug in my sub is when listening to Drum and Bass music, otherwise these go plenty deep for most music.

10! Wow and better than Klipsch THX 650? Hey, with all the speakers you listen to I trust your opinion. I purchased (used) the Pendragon's for my mains, the Lore Reference (used) for my surrounds and the Low Profile Center a few months ago. Music, movies, the system is amazing! I always thought that Def Tech was going to be my end all system...I was happy with it for movies, but for music it lacked something. I first shopped for subs, but then had a chance to listen to the Moab's. After that, I search for the Pens, as they were in my price range. I am so happy I went that direction!

@@blazermdx I was listening to Eric’s friend in New York that’s known Eric 25 years and he sent him the upgraded lore reference speakers and he said he used the world reference in the Lore to go for detail not found in the regular Lore. He reduced the price and the tweeter is awesome in the upgrade. Tekton to me has had a bad rap because they don’t have the refinement in the cabinet as many, but you see great cabinets with really bad components. This is mass production. You have to consider there are excellent DIY speakers and Tekton gives solid cabinets and excellent components and if people knew just how good they are they would sell three times more. True story, I invited my friend who,was not into audio at all. He was caught so off guard with the sound I looked over and his eye was watering and he had goose bumps on his arm. When you can sonically achieve that spending 1000/1200 bucks it can’t be dismissed. Get you another pair!

  • @blazermdx

    @blazermdx

    Жыл бұрын

Unfortunately, I’ve never owned the CM9 but they sure are beautiful speakers! These two models will definitely have two different sounds. The B&W are probably a little more rolled off and the Tektons are likely more lively. The Tektons will also get much louder and have lower frequency response. In a smaller room, especially if looks matter, I might lean towards the B&W. Again, they are great looking. If you’re in a larger room and dynamics are what you’re after, Tekton all day. These are still some of the best sounding speakers I’ve ever owned. Still miss them:/ Take this all with a grain of salt though, since I’ve never had the CM9 in my room. Call or email Tekton, they are super helpful and responsive.
