Fun fact: We also have these in the Philippines! We call it 'patopat' and we use banana leaves as a wrap and put sticky rice inside. Unfortunately we don't put egg, chili, or peanut inside, its just the sticky rice. Also, ours is more of a flattened triangle than a pyramid.
@RifqiPriyo

Wait, it's almost what _ketupat_ in Indonesian means! But, it uses woven palm leaves as its wrapper. Also, it's shaped as rhombus which is called _belah ketupat_ in Indonesian, the shape you get after splitting it (belah).

@@Bianca-iz5wk it was basically some stew the Aztecs made out of the flesh of the people they sacrificed basically.obviously,with the arrival of the Spanish they had to change from human to animal meat, so they chose pork as the replacement due to its apparent similarities to human meat.

"There's no such thing as too much rice" Ah yes, someday you will become the ultimate asian grandmother, who insists that you eat about three fields worth of rice every time you come over.

as a chinese singaporean who has tried to learn to make this from my grandmother I can assure you that I admire your utter confidence going into it I'm so surprised that she gave you the 2 banana leaves and just left you alone also can confirm that mouth will go 'tak boleh' under stress
You have brought me great joy
I was making 100 of these to eat myself cuz of covid and I was just crying looking at you trying to fold it. Even MY ancestors were shaking their heads.
so I researched more on Qu Yuan and the thing is his country was oofed by a warrior country Qin, BUT Qu Yuan advised the king way before the war like "your royal swagness lets get this other country's help and defeat Qin before they defeat us" but the King's advisers were very jealous of Qu Yuan's swag so the advisers falsely accused him of doing bad shit like treason, being a pussy etc. and told the king. So the king was like "wtf Qu Yuan I thought you were my bestie??" (reminder he didn't actually do anything) so then the King fricking EXILED him and didn't follow his pog advice about Qin so later Qin defeated his country, Chu. Remember how Fal said Qu Yuan was really really patriotic and stuff? yeah so when Chu was defeated he suicided cause he wanted to die along with his motherland
