They didn't show the goal, they showed the man. A superlative choice by the director, because that's where the true victory lay.

Richmond score early, and Manchester City respond by hammering them for the remainder of the match., Van Damme makes several saves to keep his team in front. Then Jamie injures himself saving another goal and Ted chooses to play with ten men for five minutes while Jamie is recovering on the touch line. While Jamie is off, Van Damme makes a triple save against a dominating City. While the game goes on and Jamie receives treatment, Ted sees Jamie scanning the crowd and goes to speak to him about his dad, whom he is looking for. Ted knowing he is unsettled, suggests giving himself the gift of forgiving his dad and Jamie takes a moment to consider what that would mean. Eventually, Jamie is ready to return... After the goal, Jamie is subbed and as he walks off the City crowd give him a respectful ovation.

Do you think we believe Superman is real? The purpose of any fiction is to be a reflection, not the real thing. Let's face it, most of football is waiting around for moments like this to happen, and they happen so rarely. But sports films like this remind us why we watch the real thing in the first place.
