    This is Spanish for "what will be, will be." This is something you say when you are stuck in a hopelessly unchangeable situation, but have come to accept, or even embrace the unchangability of it all.     Actually pretty true as well. The cultural renaissance only really impacted the absolute elite of european society. Pretty much everyone else were stuck in the dark ages

    I always liked this scene. While Black Adder always talked down to Baldrick, the fact that at this point in history he was willing to TEACH his servant maths meant he had at least some level of care/respect for him.

    Baldrick actually does some basic algebra in this. He understands that 2 beans + 2 beans = three beans plus that one or 2+2=3+1.

    My favourite comedy with Rowan Atkinson. It's a pity he's better known outside the UK as Mr Bean. The Blackadder series' were in my humble estimation superior in everyway to Bean. I wish they'd do another series...

    I would not say it is superior. I think Blackadder is not for everyone even though it is smart and well written. Mr.Bean comedy was for everyone. The fact that people of different cultures and languages could still enjoy Mr.Bean is a true feat in itself. If it can be enjoyed by everyone then the humour is absolutely genius.

    And R. Atkinson, as someone with the mathematical ability required for his later degree in engineering, will have observed this scene many times. From across the classroom at school, in his youth. He didn't write the lines, but his comedy is often VERY well observed.

    If I want to watch a decent comedy I go back to the oldies, or even a select few from last decade (e.g Peep Show). Wouldn't touch the tripe they come out with now, especially on the BBC. A couple years ago I attempted to watch a new BBC 'comedy' and threw up. Never tried again since.

    This is the comedic genius of Mr.Atkinson.In love with him since i can remember anything. They changed it from season 2 initially Baldrick was brilliant and he was stupid.Glad they changed it. One of the masterpieces of comedy with a stellar ensemble cast.Sadly this will never be recreated.:-(

    This was the very first scene following the first series, where we see the roles flip from Blackadder being the dimwit and Baldrick being the intelligent one, to the opposite. Worked much better IMO
