@@matan8074 Mr. Bean has phenomenal problem solving skills. His methods though are unconventional.

This show completely shaped my sense of humour as a kid.

Rowan Atkinson has a stutter, which causes him to struggle with the letter 'B.' He has to visualise the letter before he says it - which is why he puts extra emphasis on words containing that letter. Eg Bob. Later he created the character Mr. Bean (1990) for this reason.

Fascinating what a nice beard, sharp wit and some Elizabethan era clothing can do to a man. Blackadder looks... really handsome. I'd say steaming hot but that must be my love for scalding smackdowns, sarcastic remarks and dry humour talking. (Although tbh Melchett and Baldrick look better in this season than in any other, so maybe it **is** just the facial hair and clothes.)

I think Blackadder is Rowan Atkinson's finest work. I love a bitter and sarcastic comic.

Blackadder II is such a step-up to Blackadder 1. I found the first season always so hard to get through because the first Blackadder was so unlikable (maybe intended). But Blackadder II is witty and intelligent.

The first series was written by Richard Curtis and Rowan Atkinson. Series 2 - 4 were Richard Curtis and Ben Elton.

Missed one out - “Goes like a privvy door when the plague's in town?” describing Percy’s girlfriend!

Masterpiece. My favourite British sitcom. Rowan Atkinson is a genius.

I completely agree with Lion Man's comment that the writing for Blackadder was top notch. One must pay close attention to the dialogue to pick up on the cleverly hidden jokes and innuendos in typical English style humor. Indeed, Rowan Atkinson seemed to have been in his element while he played Blackadder.

British comedy will always be the superior kind of comedy, both new AND old
