Even in 1995, it was obvious, by what she added to the melody, that Alison was destined to be an award-winning singer. Listen carefully; you can hear her voice, ever so low in volume, but distinctive nonetheless, and it was superb harmony by her that made the song, and it was fabulous. No wonder they received a Grammy Nomination!

believe it or not I only "discovered" kathy mattea about 6 months ago. "country" isn't my primary idiom so there is my excuse. i think she is mis-classified though. she is really FOLK with a country market presence. she seems much more style-flexible than country-marketing is adequate for. and she plays well with others. in all respects. real talent.

@@greenbeagle13 maybe the practical lesson is one about learning to reflect and not repeating the same mistakes. nobody is perfect. I do find it relevant to note in the case of kathy mattea that the music industry has pretty much failed to find a way to market her work. that is more their failing than hers.

Decency and manners, ok. Teach them about god in the context of simply learning about different religions around the world. Not as any kind of truth. The christian "god" doesn't exist any more than allah, or any of the ancient gods of Rome, Greece or Egypt. They ALL need to be relegated to mythology, and let science take its rightful place. Religion and belief in supernatural nonsense has held back science far too long.

@@gregnormal55. Well, in all the years that people normally are fans, I was plowing up the road working with kids with disabilities in rural public schools. I didn't have a lot of time for music, but the song is one from my youth. My daughter gave me Allison Krause 's wonderful acoustic album for a recent birthday, and I loved that she was singing a slew of my songs. So I guess you can say I'm a fan. And who knew Jerry Garcia even touched a steel guitar? I might just go ahead and live a few more years. I might learn some other cool stuff. Thanks for asking. I'm always amazed when someone does.

I think that Baby Now that I Found You was such a wonderful surprise bc I remember the original version by the Foundations from my early high school years, and never reacted well to it. But Allison and her band found what that song was actually about and produced it that way. It's very haunted and dark, but so is the sentiment.
