    These videos are so helpful and encouraging. I was feeling a little overwhelmed with trying to figure out where to stay and how to teach my little one. She is already 14 months and shows so much signs of wanting to learn and i had not the slightest idea of how to actually teach her 😢(im a little embarrassed about that but not letting it stop me). Hi Brittany! This video was very informative, I love the idea of using the sign language to communicate with the little ones, the only problem is that I'm not too consistent with doing that! I need to practice the sign language more! Just returned the support, thank you!

    Thanks so much for the returned support! I really appreciate it! The consistency with the signing is key. I thought with my 3rd child that I would naturally sign more, but it ended up not being enough. So, I turned on Baby Signing Time once a day (about 20mins) and in 2 days he was signing everything. It's my favorite resource, and the only real screen time I use with my kids when they are babies. Thanks again!

    Jailita Rodgers I am going to upload soon a video on the Spanish and the Mandarin Chinese teaching. It really involves a commit to outside sources, even if the parent speaks it at home, these can be very resourceful for true fluency...especially with the Chinese and knowing the characters. The video should be up next week.

    My daughter learned to talk pretty fast but now with my son he barely says papa I think being busier now I don’t have that one on one time. I used to repeat sounds for my daughter, I even have a video of doing her imitating a sound back and forth and she was a few months old, we did the “sign language” accidentally, we had our own signs

    Erika Perez de Quito I completely understand. I have found it more difficult to get the one-on-one time with my 3rd child that he needs for speech development. But as long as we are doing our best then it’s ok. Just taking it day by day, because each child is so different.

    This video was so informative! You have given me so much food for thought and I am going to be implementing these tips straight away with my four month old. Do you have any tips for helping my almost 4 year old who struggles pronouncing some sounds. I think she has a slight lisp. Her tongue tends to come out when making certain sounds. She has such a great vocabulary but I just wondered if it is something she would grow out of or if I can help her with pronouncing the words. I have tried to show her certain words and how my tongue is behind my teeth for example with certain words and she sees this and tries to do the same but struggles.

    Simone Alana I’m glad the video had value! Thanks! For a 4 year old a great tip is actually chewing gum. A speech language pathologist friend recently told me about this. It strengthens the muscles necessary for better pronunciation. Also, try allowing microphone play where they can hear themselves back more clearly. ❤️

    With the baby signing videos, how soon did you start them? I had heard screen time wasn’t good for babies - but is that incorrect? Also do you ever leave the tv on (with English or other languages) as background noise for language development? I know my baby gravitates towards any screen but I always tried to move the screen away when I saw him fixated thinking it wasn’t good for his eyes. But maybe I’m mistaken??

  • @BrittanyKellyTV

    @BrittanyKellyTV

    Жыл бұрын

    Yes, screen time can be negative. However, it also depends on the type. For example, Facetime with a relative is screen time but it isn’t harmful screen time. It was shown that shows like Mister Roger’s Neighborhood weren’t harmful either. You want to stay away from faster or more colorful than reality shows/videos, and you don’t want to exceed 30 mins. Staying within those parameters you can avoid the negative effects of screen time. I found that baby signing time and preschool prep for my babies 6 months and older (for no more than 30 minutes) was great and they actually learned a lot. I would watch and sign along with the video. This helped me to learn it and use it throughout the day with ease. When I tried teaching sign language to one of my children without signing time I found it took longer for them to grasp compared to the children I watched the videos with while signing along with the songs. These were the only times of videos I showed them. For language learning, I played a lot of music in the different language. When they were about a year old I introduced short videos in the foreign language like Chinese Elmo (10 mins at a time), and Chinese Emma on KZread. I’ve read that background noise can be overly distracting/stimulating, especially if they are trying to focus on learning a task. So I try to avoid it whenever possible. Sometimes you just need peace and quiet to solidify what you have learned that day. Babies are paying attention to so many details at once in any given moment.

    honey love There are a combination of reasons why he may not be speaking a lot yet, including personality. The big word explosion happens after 2.5 years old for many children, and that is totally normal. How many words can he communicate? Including sign language?

    Brittany I’m a grandma. We watch our granddaughter 5 days a week. I’m so expressed with this and I want to give her best start in life. Also trying to teach her Spanish and Chinese. I have a Sister-In-law who is Chinese and a Sister-In-law who is Spanish. I have No language experience other then English. Both Sister-In-laws are not near us so how do I teach our granddaughter when we only have 10 hrs each day. Our daughter would love for her to be bilingual but both parents only speak English. My name is Debbie and our granddaughter is 17mths she still mumbles words so where do I begin?

  • @BrittanyKellyTV

    @BrittanyKellyTV

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi Debra! I have a video about teaching a foreign language to children even if you don’t know the language. I can only speak English as well. It’s definitely a long term commitment if you what the child to be fluent and retain the skill into their adulthood. I’m linking my other video below with tips that helped us. Also, use your sisters-in-law as a resource by using Facetime with them and your granddaughter for 15 minutes a day. If you remain consistent that seemingly small amount of time will add up and compound. Make sure they only speak the foreign language to her during that time. I hope this helps. kzread.info/dash/bejne/d4Bo3MGwmcnSkrQ.html
