Taylor and Dave changed what it means to be a "Rock Star." Before Rock Stars were these larger-than-life characters. Like Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. Living the Rock Star life. Rock Stars also primarily only played with their band. Dave and Taylor play together and also had independent projects. Who says you have to be in only one band for the rest of your life. Maybe the Beatles would have stayed together if they did the same thing and were able to express the different creative sides of themselves. They also brought fun to rock. In one interview Taylor said, "Don't call me a Rock Star, I'm a musician." And that's how he and Dave live, they love music. Taylor will be greatly missed but together he and Dave left a great legacy behind.

Hearing him talk about his kids makes me think of mine and their transformation into their musical world. When they were with me at a very young age, was a heavy dose of AC/DC, Thin Lizzy and Judas Priest that they were exposed to. As they got older, they found their own music and nothing makes me prouder and happier than when they turn me onto music they love and I end up loving it as well. Taylor was a good man, a solid parent, great musician who made some mistakes that many of us have made and he is in a different place now. He will live on thru his music.

You don't take crap for fun. We don't know what he was going through for feeling bad. Depression and anxiety are hell! He never showed anything, always was bright shining. So amongst all his qualities, he was a good actor too. I heard Brian May say this morning how terrible sad he was about loosing his good friend. Roger Taylor called him the sun in human form. So true that Zeppelin is over-covered and Queen is under-covered.

Because Queen is super hard to cover. The vocal range and all the great piano. Not alot of cover bands even have piano in there band. It's just how you never hear people covering The Police. No one wants to sing that high. Sting can't even do it live.

@@chrishepburn1503 a lot of it Freddie could hardly do live. At least in the sense of doing it live to the recording. Instead Freddie would often sing notes lower, let notes die earlier than on the record, and he would make it expressive, like it was too much passion to sustain. That's the great thing about how Taylor Hawkins did Queen covers - he knew he wasn't going to get them right, but that wasn't going to stop him from loving it.

@@thescowlingschnauzer I'm just talking about bar bands covering Queen. Sure Taylor Hawkins can cover them but I'm saying the majority can't. And yes Freddie didn't sing like the record but his live is wayyyyyyy better than any bar band trying to cover Queen.

@@chrishepburn1503 Taylor Hawkins covers of Queen are terrible *in terms of technique*. The passion he brings makes them worth listening to. More bar bands should strive for that.

I’ve never heard a cover band try to cover Zep. But they do cover 3-4 Queen songs. Zeppelin set the bar to high.

When he’s talking about being rebellious: what’s so funny is that now you can piss off some uptight boomers with classic rock! I was on a bus listening to Baba O’Riley at full volume and the sound was leaking out of my headphones. This boomer lady gave me a look. LOL!

I’m watching a lot of these interviews & noticing some things. Taylor doesn’t look healthy here. He’s not quite himself. Just knowing that he was being prescribed benzodiazepenes is alerting me to his anxious body language, and difficulty speaking. It’s not immediately noticeable, but he’s having some difficulty here. I can also see it in his face. If I were his doctor I’d get him off the benzos, I’d prescribe a hiatus from live tours & to be home with his family for a year with no alcohol, and I’d put him on a good sports recovery nutrition regimen. This was an avoidable tragedy, but this is how it happens. :(
