Taylor Circa 74 Demo from Peghead Nation

Музыка

Taylor's new Circa 74 amp is a 150-watt powerhouse that sounds as good as it looks. Featuring a gorgeous mahogany cabinet and a matching stand, the amp is a perfect companion for a fine acoustic instrument. Two channels with easy-to-use controls, instrument and well as microphone inputs, and DI output ensure that the Circa 74 is ready for the stage. In this video, Peghead Nation’s Teja Gerken demonstrates the amp with a Taylor 50th-Anniversary Builder’s Edition 814ce, a 1994 Taylor 712c with a Fishman PowerTap Earth pickup, and a Martin OM with L.R. Baggs Anthem SL electronics.

I love that you mentioned the looks of the amp which alot of players probably don't think matters at all but, usually after i practice with other musicians, my wife likes me to put my gear away if it's in our living room which includes the amps i use also. I am thinking she would approve of this one being able to stay as it certainly is a fine looking piece of wood.

The classy aesthetic of the Circa 74 is very alluring, and would look great in our living room alongside our mid-century furniture! That said, I agree with a few other commenters that think the omission of phantom power for the XLR input is limiting. I play fingerstyle, and for a great acoustic sound, blending my pickup (K&K) signal with a condenser mic can’t be beat. A phase switch and mute button would be useful as well. Perhaps they’ll one day release a version with an enhanced feature set. While my Fishman Performer is a tough act to follow as far as acoustic combo amps go, I will take the Circa 74 for a test-drive when they start showing up in my area.

Beautiful sounding and looking amp. Great demonstration. What I did not see on the controls - no Phantom power button. Without Phantom power, one can not directly input a lot of excellent mics, like your Ear Trumpet mic, for vocals, unless one buys an additional Phantom power supply or puts a voice processor in series with the mic. Any thoughts why no Phantom power?

My guess is for a live-use amp, one probably wouldn't use a condenser mic due to proximity feedback.

I was just curious if no Phantom power was an oversight. I use a SM86 vocal mic into either my 15 year old Roland AC60 or 5 year old Fishman Lounbox Artist amps, and both have Phantom power buttons. No problems with condenser mic feedback for my applications, but I hear what you are saying. @@ibolazzz

This kills me! Anyone purchasing this for aesthetics probably has a cool vintage mic to go with it. Dealbreaker for me..I’ll trade in my Fishman the day they decide to include it! I use a cloudlifter with my super 55, might be able to get by without it, but not a $1200 experiment for me.

Too nice to bang around clubs. Is a heavily padded cover included/available? At over a grand, one should be included.

Don’t think it’s intended for banging around clubs.

unfortunately a limited control of the midrange. that's such a disadvantage. shame.....
