Born in 1946 in London, Moon’s natural talent for drumming emerged early, leading him to join The Who in 1964. Moon’s drumming was characterized by its sheer intensity and creativity, breaking traditional rhythmic boundaries and setting new standards for rock music. Despite his musical genius, Moon’s personal life was tumultuous. Known for his wild antics and destructive behavior, he earned a reputation as one of rock’s most notorious figures. His lifestyle was marked by heavy drinking and drug use, which took a severe toll on his health. On September 7, 1978, at the age of 32, Keith Moon died from an overdose of Heminevrin, a drug prescribed to alleviate his alcohol withdrawal symptoms. His death was a tragic loss to the music world and a stark reminder of the perils of rock and roll excess.
In her memoir "MOON GIRL," Mandy Moon, Keith's daughter, offers a deeply personal and revealing look at her father’s life. The book delves into the complexities of Moon’s character, showcasing his softer, more vulnerable side that was often overshadowed by his public persona. Mandy provides intimate anecdotes and family stories that humanize the rock legend, highlighting both the joys and challenges of growing up with such a larger-than-life figure. "MOON GIRL" is not only a tribute to Keith Moon’s enduring legacy but also a poignant exploration of the man behind the myth, offering readers a unique perspective on one of rock’s most enigmatic icons.

The problem was, everyone laughed and thought how cool it was. You know, a crazy rockstar! The truth was, he had a problem, medically speaking, he needed help. If he had lived at a later period of time he could of received treatment and lived. You can’t help think, that our laughing at him contributed to his life style and subsequent death. Sad actually!

For me the best drummer. Powerful fast and to the point rhythms. He inspired many. Me too, I'm going to buy a drum kit. He was also an entertainer. He was known for his pranks.

The Who was my first concert in 1975. I managed to get a last minute ticket and my seat was in the bleachers behind the band. I got to see Keith work the band pretty upclose..and watch him turn around to us and act like a chimpanzee
