I think Snitchery is very cool from what I’ve seen and she has every right to feel however she wants about her own body, but all I can hear when she’s explaining is “I am chronically online and it’s beginning to affect my body image and self esteem” and it makes me sad for her.

This! I feel like she needs to spend more time offline and actually find out who she is. As someone who doesn´t have Tiktok, it´s insane to me that some people are basing their whole identity on whether or not they fit into certain "cores" or not. I also think it´s a good reminder that you shouldn´t get tatttooed before you have a strong sense of your own identity, and know what you really like or dislike.

From general society point of view I think she is seen as heavily tattooed. For lot of ordinary people I think having a full sleeve is where they will start consider you on the heavier side. I think lot of people who hang out in tattoo circles get desensitized to that, but she can absolutely label herself that way cause majority of public would see her as heavily tatooed.

Yeah I'd definitely say so. As someone who doesn't have tattoos I even think of people as heavily tattooed when they have about 5 tattoos in very visible places.

I agree 100% with the prior commenter as someone having no tattoos. I’d consider someone heavily tattooed if they have a full sleeve or multiple visible tattoos larger than a few inches. Certainly in the corporate world we consider a person “tattooed” if they have any visible ink, and that includes the very common back of hand. Take that as you will

I agree. I think a lot of people outside of the tattoo world would consider her to be heavily tattooed. Especially older people. The majority of people I see on TV and in person just walking around don't have many or any visible tattoos. So I definitely think she would be seen as heavily tattooed by a lot of folks.

My idea of “heavily tattooed” is a full sleeve. One full sleeve. I had a coworker who had a full sleeve of Alice in Wonderland tattoos, full color, that was absolutely several multiple hour long sessions over several months if not years. That is dedication, time and body image/presentation commitment and financial commitment to me. I only have five tattoos myself (both wrists done in different years that correlate, an upper chest tattoo, left rib cage completely covered and my lower waist/inner hip/pant line with a very large piece) and because mine are so spaced out I don’t consider myself heavily tattooed. Hers being all in one place (my old coworker, that is) even IF (which it probably wasn’t) only FIVE sessions (like mine were, one session per tattoo) makes it heavily tattooed to me.

i think what she means by heavily tattooed is in the mainstream, not necessarily in ~the tattoo world~. especially in the beauty industry and in modeling, which are things that she does aside from being an influencer. she's very lucky to be as independent as she is, but in many lines of work that involve your looks, they can definitely hinder your work at times, not because of yourself, but because of other people's perception.

Yeah, like if you're not tattooed at all, have no interest in getting tattoed and you see a person with a sleeve/half-sleeve or even small tattoos scattered around, you might percieve them as heavily tattooed, because you haven't desensitised your perception of tattooes with looking at tons of pictures of beautful inked people. Kind of similar to my mom's first reaction of my septum, she thought it was ugly and too prominent, but by the time I got my stud, she complimented it a lot and says they suit me quite well.

Completely agree. I’m in a similar boat where within the tattoo industry I wouldn’t be considered heavily tattooed, but in my day to day life I am, without question, heavily tattooed. And I understand that how the day to day feel hits different, as it is around you more than just when you are online

exactly. in mainstream media, modeling, and every small town, she would be considered heavily tattooed. i think it just depends where you live and who you interact with most. that determines how you see yourself and others. exposure.

To be honest I think this relates to a wider conversation about fashion trends, curated identities and patriarchal beauty standards. Tattoos aren’t generally regarded as ‘feminine’ - just like body hair, it is another way for society to police women’s bodies. Shanspeare has a great video about the internet’s obsession with particular aesthetics, it’s worth a watch. I think there’s a lot more to unpack here to be honest, but Snitchery is completely valid in the way she feels. I just hope she knows she is gorgeous with her tattoos and can wear anything she likes.

Completely agree. I'm not a woman but it's easy to see that women and femmes are held to a different standard and are only allowed to deviate from the norm in set ways. You go even a little outside that and you're "not feminine enough" or get other shitty comments. I've always been interested in alternative aesthetics (was a goth since about age 10) but I never restricted my own style. I would wear elegant skirts and makeup some days, chunky boots with combat trousers the next. It was all my style because I wore it. I can understand the desire to have a certain aesthetic though, I just think people limit themselves too much. But! Each to their own, as long as they aren't hurting anyone or upsetting themselves it's all good.

It’s funny because in the Middle East tattoos are only for women. I saw a man talking about how he told his mother (who had hand tattoos because that’s what women do when they get married) that he wanted tattoos. She then said he would be too “feminine” and be see as gay. Very strange how depending on where you’re at the way people view it is completely flipped! Just shows that nothing is real and we should just do whatever the hell we want

This is the first time I've ever seen her, and my first impression is that she's heavily tattooed because what I can see is a lot of tattoos. Sure, her legs and whatnot may not have tattoos, but I can't see that. And if someone with more tattoos than her was walking around with pants on, we wouldn't be able to see that either. She appears to be heavily tattooed.

while not invalidating her feelings, i feel like this is a consequence of this heavy push in social media to categorize yourself/put yourself in an aesthetic/style box that's basically a watered down version of real subcultures and lifestyles. us as humans we're always changing and growing, and we'll hardly ever be the same person we were five years ago. also, i know that since it's her job it might be difficult, but honestly, quitting tiktok really helped my self esteem and perception a lot lol. i kept subconsciously comparing myself to other people i saw on the app and ended up feeling like shit. i also find it really sad that western society has made us percieve tattoos as something inherently masculine because there are many cultures where women also get tattooed and it's even an important aspect of femininity there.

Yes exactly! It’s not the concept of her tattoos it’s the actual society we live in making us fit into these boxes. I’ve even heard people in the tattoo community saying “your tattoos have to match and have a certain aesthetic” which is such bullshit. Love the guy who got two different styles of sleeves he looks amazing just do whatever you want! But yeah it’s mainly the issue of the internet and “aesthetic” in general. Since I see this issue with other people saying stuff about their eye color/hair type/body type/etc not matching an aesthetic and that’s such bullshit.

I think she says she's perceived as heavily tattooed by people who don't have tattoos. Not necessarily by those of us who are used to see very heavily tattooed people.

I agree I worked in one area and everyone ALWAYS mentioned my tattoos when they saw me. Then when I got moved to a different area almost no one mentioned them because most people there were heavily tattooed themselves. I can image in her social media/model/Hollywood circle that she is seen as heavily tattooed and treated differently because of it. Especially with those circles also being very into aesthetics and fitting to a certain style/label

I feel for her, even though 99% of the time I am in love with my tattooed body, there's always the 1% of the time where I fantasize about having a "cleaner" look. I think we just have to remember that chasing fashion trends is futile, and being authentically you is cooler than trying to fit any style. Who cares what other people think? Imma do me

Ikr? Do men agonize over whether they're giving coquette or clean girl? My tattoos reflect me and my personal style reflects me so it's always going to be a good fit and fuck the haters. I don't regret my tattoos because I know that obsessing over like cottagecore moodboards is more about chasing a certain lifestyle (wealth, leisure, connected with nature, owning land) or beauty standard (young, white, feminine, long hair, skinny, docile) and that's always going to make you hate yourself and long for what you don't have

You're right, I'd not classify her as heavily tattooed, but I would say she is visibly tattooed, and that's a difference. Someone can be very heavily tatooed with a full body suit and have it never show if they wear long sleeves.

I don't have tattoos, but one thing I have learned about 'trends' and styles' is that it is INCREDIBLY freeing when you realize and come to terms with not giving a fuck what other people think.

What she is talking about, how having tattoos pushed her out of being able to fit in really hit for me. I'm afraid to even go to other countries due to my looks, and I'm not even boldly tattooed as her. Even beyond that, due to race I feel like at times no matter what I do it will push me out. It's such a sombering feeling to be honest.

China is the only country that reacts badly to tattoos. I've been to Japan multiple times and I have my face tattooed and they don't care. Other than not being able to go to some specific businesses, like onsens, gyms, and spas (but there are plenty of other businesses of the same type that will allow you and don't care) and water parks asking you to cover tattoos the rest of the country does not care. They know other countries have different views of tattoos and they don't have the same gang affiliation that they do in Japan. Tattooing also recently became legal for non medical professionals in Japan so the culture is changing a lot.

i love the look of girly for example cottagecore dresses on someone who is tattooed! and i'm sure your style looks great from your description alone ☺️ i'm definitely biased because my personal style, although it changed and evolved over the years, always included girly stuff with more bold and "harsh" looking elements to give it an alternative edge. for example at the moment i absolutely love to style a feminine silky slip dress with big black platform shoes from new rock or demonia. i always loved to mix up different styles and aesthetics, so maybe i'm more open to the concept of not fitting in some kind of "-core" aesthetic in general.

I used to feel that way too. But after I went through therapy I realized it wasn’t because people were always judging me but often people are admiring me and my beautiful tattoo work. As soon as I shifted my perspective I was so much happier and my confidence skyrocketed. I bet you people are looking at her because she’s drop dead gorgeous!!! Like you said, she would look beautiful in anything

This was super interesting to me! I'm a disabled woman who has been dyeing my hair bright colours and dressing alternatively from a very young age. I walk different, am wobbly and talk differently so I've been stared at literally my entire life, being aesthetically alternative just gave people more to look at while they're staring. I honestly haven't noticed much difference since getting tattoos. I'm pretty moderately tattooed now (legs covered, 3/4 sleeve, chest pieces, etc) and I personally felt like my tattoos freed me to explore my femininity, I LOVE the way flowy dresses look with my tattoos. They make me feel more comfortable and beautiful. I guess everyone's different haha.

I do feel more comfortable dressing feminine with tattoos. If anything, I love the conflicting style that bold tattoos add to a soft outfit. I see why it might bother some, but I think my style has always been the best of both worlds because I'm not exactly goth and not exactly emo and not exactly boho. With tattoos, I feel the freedom to dress whichever way I feel that day while still remaining me.

As someone who is disabled and also an alternative weirdo. I feel this. 😭 My friends get so mad when they realize how many people stare at me every day. I don’t really notice because I’m so used to it that I just tune it out now. Unless it’s like their being super aggressive about it…but even still. When you are used to being perceived at different, being different in other ways also doesn’t matter as much. Like you said, if they’re gonna look, you might as well give them something to look at.

to me cottagecore is just pretty dresses, pretty hair and dreamy picnics... skin color or having tattoos doesn't change any of the other stuff or make it less dreamy and beautiful in my eyes it just adds more individuality. i feel bad that some people see it as so limited to just one specific look when it doesn't have to be in order to give the same vibe

I have a 3/4 sleeve and I had a friend of a friend tell me that the ‘contrast’ between the feminine dress i was wearing and the tattoo was ‘startling’. 😢😒 like I can’t wear a feminine dress without being ‘startling’ anymore?? Ugh.

I didn't start wearing dresses until i turned 26, by then I had covered my thighs and legs in over $8000 worth of art. I had never liked showing my legs until I got these tattoos, the confidence boost was such an amazing turn in my life

Thank you so much for speaking from the bottom of my heart regarding the aesthetics with music. I’m literally an editor for an online heavy metal and rock music magazine and because I’m not visibly tattooed, don’t dye my hair, can’t wear make up a lot (mostly due to skin conditions) people just do not believe me or take me seriously regarding my music taste. Even when wearing a band shirt or hoodie I often get the „that must be your boyfriends, you can’t possibly be a fan of band XY“ thing. I hate it with a passion…

Here's the thing about being "cottage core" or whatever....you can adjust the style to fit you. Got pink hair and floral tattoos? Pastel cottagecore. Like...I get what she's saying, but I feel like you can make things work with what you have going on.

I think some people feel like their tattoos contrast heavily if you like a fashion style and then have already got a very different tattoo style. Like people who want to be into very strict vintage fashion but have a ton of colourful anime tattoos. I think with some tattoos it is a touch more work if your fashion ends up in a complete other direction or you realise you don’t love the thing you had tattooed as much any longer.

@@skrittle555 Same here. The most stylised I ever plan to go is Victorian Illustration or Medieval Woodcut/engraving style blackwork. So people like lozzybones, sam claw and deborahpowtattoos. Because I have always preferred black and grey tattoos, and because I have always favoured a goth adjacent, kinda 'witchy' historic inspired style, it should look pretty universal even if I change my tastes. Plus I want plants, ornamental designs and flowers on my upper body, and more folklore stuff on my legs. (My calves being the only part of my legs that anyone regularly sees.) That way what is clearly visible will end up even more likely to stand the test of time.

@@LadyAhro that sounds awesome! i love blackwork. tons of options to make it still unique and fit you, but i find that it goes with a variety of styles and aesthetics. i also prefer a very goth, "witchy" style, but sometimes i'm more into classic stuff. my color palette always includes some black or neutrals though and blackwork just matches that perfectly. but if i were to ever wear something super feminine and pastel pink, i think the contrast with the heavy blackwork looks just divine. it really is a very versatile style!

One of the hardest things I've learned in my life is to not care what other people think of me. If something makes me happy, why do I care what others think. I also have cut social media down to nearly nothing and I NEVER go into the comments. Its just not worth it. I know who I am and I'm unapologetically me

Another thought as I watch though, social media truly is awful in what it does to people. I have realism, japanese, a traditional piece, none of my tattoos 'match' a vibe. I adore them all, theyre a part of me and i could care infinitely less if it makes me fit in or not. Be tattooed and be kawaii if you want, whos to stop you! Hey Lauren, I recently started volunteering at an animal shelter and its been amazing! Don't get me wrong it's tough work, but after cleaning the cages we get to play with/walk/train the dogs and they're so precious. If there's a shelter near you, it would maybe also be nice for you to do. It's an excuse to leave the house, meet people and do something valuable. I also can't own a dog because my house is too small, but this has filled that dog shaped gap for me 🥰

I feel like I've had the total opposite experience with how tattoos make me feel in my clothes. Before having a lot of tattoos, I used to feel more of a need to express my "tough/edgy" side through clothing - lots of black, heavy-looking stuff. Now being more tattooed, I feel like that side of me is showing enough already, and I have a little more wiggle room to play around with femininity and color and even just more basic looking clothing without losing that side of me. Obviously everyone is different, but for me tattoos have just widened my range of expression. I admit though, that even though I love my tattoos, there are times I prefer to hide them or wish that others couldn't see them. I really don't need every aunt Karen asking about or weighing in on my personal choices all the goddamn time.

I feel like a lot of the issues she’s bringing up have a lot more to do with misogyny and racism than tattoos necessarily. Tattoos are definitely more accepted by society on white men.

I’m the most tattooed nurse I’ve ever seen and I kind of love when I’m judged by an old patient and then when they get to know me you can see their judgement leave them, I often get compliments from the older patients it warms my heart cos I understand that this is so new to them. Being a heavily tattooed nurse means I’m likely the only tattooed person these elderly people meet and I feel responsible to be a good representative for tattooed people. I have only black work maybe ‘patchwork’ tattoos and a sleeve and I always worry that it will go out of style one day. I have a similar amount of tattoos as snychery (we have the same sternum one) and I love wearing soft dresses but I think blackwork ables you to wear softer things because it goes with everything. TikTok encouraged me get a face tattoo (a small heart under my eye) and somehow the tattooist messed it up and now I’m getting it removed and that’s probably the only one I regret. TikTok seems to encourage impulsive face tattoos and minimises the effect it has on you socially

In regards to your tattoos becoming part of you, i cant tell you how many times ive forgotten i have a portrait on my arm. Waking up to a face or taking your shirt off and just WTF IS THAT has happened countless times and ive had it for three years LMAO

16:45 yes literally how I feel as a black guy. I remember when I was waiting at a bus stop and this older lady was pressed up against the glass practically with her hands clenched to her purse and I in my head was just shaking my head because she'd probably see me deliver her food at a hospital lol. I have a visible tattoo and plan on getting sleeves and when I worked at the hospital I got a lot of compliments on my visible one, even by older folks. This old lady was so sweet she was like "I like your ink!" And it's anime as well I do appreciate the compliments. I love tattoos though and would love to decorate my body

All those "cores" have been developed to sell you things. To make you feel less than because you don't have every single thing fitting with that aesthetic, so that you'll buy new things. They're not genuine styles.

I'm so happy you mentioned your story of your "looks not matching your personality" according to society! I can relate so hard. I always felt "fake" because I have tattoos, piercings, dress dark and wear skulls, etc. But I love R&B and slow jams, and I go crazy for Megan thee Stallion! I always had to explain to people that I don't listen to metal, just love the way I dress. And jokingly they'd call me fake but it always made me extremely uncomfortable to wear what I want. Your video was so reassuring, thank you!

I feel like tattoos look SO CUTE with cute little dresses and soft aesthetics, but that's cause i like mixing what's typically feminine and typically masculine cause i dont believe in gender norms and stuff like that, there's this GORGEOUS woman i've seen a few times, she has the softest most delicate aesthetic and she's VERY tattooed, like, neck arms, chest, hands, etc and i think she looks amazing with her tattoos and her light colored feminine dresses.

As a woman who is quite heavily pierced and dress goth, I feel the pressure of acting wayy too kind and sweet just to try and make mostly older people feel safer🤣

On whether or not she could be considered heavily tattooed I think she is seeing it from the perspective of people who aren't tattooed at all or have maybe one or two. I say this because people who don't have tattoos are exposed as much to the people who have their entire body covered. I think you're approaching it from the wrong perspective for this specific thing she deals with.

I agree. It’s not about the technicalities of whether or not she’s actually heavily tattooed. It’s about the perception. I think a lot of people perceive her to be heavily tattooed. Even people with tattoos might because if you just saw her arms…like if she was wearing pants or a long dress or tights, you wouldn’t be able to see the lower half of her body very well in terms of skin. So, if you just saw her arms, you would think that she probably has more tattoos. Regardless of whether or not she does. Her having that much coverage in a very visible area makes it seem like she is extremely covered. Even if she’s not.

I feel like Gen Zs will get hit with this the most. I think us millennials grew up and found ourselves before this could really take over. Instead we had other forms of social media playing a role. It's sad either way. And the part about not looking like you fit in is SO RELATABLE. went to a rock concert the other day and being a tattoo black girl, I stick out like a sore thumb. But now I welcome it. Hopefully they'll get to that point too

I think the urge to ‘try everything’ when I come to aesthetics is so damaging. I think people find the most happiness when they develop their own personal style. I get that it can be hard to do, it’s hard for me, but I really try to buy things because they speak to me and my style not because they fit a particular core or aesthetic. I just feel for her. Like the feeling that your personal style is not everyone’s cup of tea can be so hurtful. I think a lot of women struggle with this exact thing in some form or another.

I love seeing weddings of a heavenly tattooed couple and the bride is fully tattooed I find it so amazing and beautiful! Like this woman can work a normal and or maybe formal job and if see her with tattoos like this I wouldn’t treat or judge her any differently than her co-worker with no tattoos lol Angelina Jolie is sorta tattooed up and she looks like a badass mother

I think this is a case of teo things: 1. The older you get the less you care about others opinions and "the mould" 2. It's a bit of internet brain. If the media makes you feel negative, disconnect. As long as you are not hurting anyone you are not doing anything wrong and shouldn't feel bad. If you feel like you cannot take a step back, ask yourself why and be critical. Many times it's not worth it 🤷🏻‍♀️

3:42 I think having a full sleeve qualifies as ‘heavily tattooed’ for most people. In my eyes (I only have small to medium tattoos that can easily be covered) being heavily tattooed does not only take into account how much of your skin is tattooed but also how visible your tattoos are. A bold sleeve like that is probably more visible than a large back piece.

Personally, I really love the contrast between bold, dark tattoos and very feminine clothes. I would probably be considered heavily tatttoed by most people these days, I got my whole back done, sleeve, a lot of space on my legs and belly is taken up. I preferably wear really cute, girly clothes, like a pink flowery skirt with a matching top and it makes me so happy! The only thing about having a lot of tattoos that bothers me is being reduced to it a lot of times, like you said yourself. Men assuming I must be really wild and kinky, the creepy guy in the cafe over the road who asks about nothing else ("You got any new ones?", while looking up and down my whole body. "No, none since you asked last week mate.") etc. I do not mind genuine interest, or when people use it as a conversation starter, that is just normal human behaviour I guess. I once had a guy in the streets tell me I was going to hell, because Jesus doesn't like tattoos lol. I know I am complaining on a very high level here, I am so happy I have them, could afford them...I feel sorry for Snitchery, it must not be nice to regret your tattoo decisions when you are covered quite a bit, would be very hard to laser off, let alone the pain and money! That is why I think you should wait a bit with getting tattooed when you are young, I got my first one at 23, now I am 33. To each their own of course, but I would have gotten some stuff inked into my skin at the age of 18, halleluja :D

I can't think of a single thing I like today that isn't a reflection or evolution of something I liked ten, twenty, or even thirty years ago. The interests I'm focusing on fade in and out year by year, or adapt to new life states, but they never just go away entirely. When people talk about hating something they loved a few years ago, it's just... I dont know, an alien concept to me.

when I think about what counts as "heavily tattooed" I generally view it from the perspective of society as a whole/what the average person would see as heavily tattooed, vs what would be seen as heavily tattooed within the tattoo community. I think it's totally fair for her to consider herself heavily tattooed especially seeing as a lot of hers are so visible

I was in my sister's wedding and my arms are fully tatted out and she had all of us bridesmaids in a strapless dress for her beach wedding. I felt out of place cuz for one I'm heavier than the other girls and I'm tatted and they weren't. I even asked my sister if she wanted me to get the makeup and cover my tats so she won't regret her wedding pics with me as an eyesore lol. But she didn't mind and told me to be me...

100% I was a MOH in a wedding wearing a sleevless dress and I was the only plus sized tattooed one in the bridal party, but the bride said I looked fine and not to cover up.

I try to explain that *I'm more than my tattoos* to My Mom.. one of the first things she tells people is about my tattoos. And I only have over 30. Most are hidden a lot of the time. I don't understand why that's the first thing you tell people.

I understand this. When I worked in an office I got in trouble for dress code all the time but I truly believe it's because my tattoos make every outfit look more alt.

I feel like because I’m not on tiktok, I can’t relate to the social media pressure to fit into trends but I definitely feel judged and pressured by family members and my community to not get the more “scary” tattoos. I’ve been getting tattooed for a year so I have about 15 big black/grey tattoos all over my body ranging from skulls, katanas to cute animals and flowers that are very visible unless I wear a turtle neck bodysuit. I’ve definitely been treated differently for better or worse but I definitely feel less inclined to get the more badass tattoos I want or wait until my family has passed on

nah life is too short. get the tattoos. my 5 year old cousin loves my "spooky cat" piece that terrifies my step dad haha. you'll truly never please everyone so just focus on pleasing yourself first. those that matter don't mind and those that mind don't matter.

Isn't the "core" trend something for young kids who want to belong ? It's like goth, emo or hippies... I feel everyone who want to should be able to fit into those groups regardless of their tattoos but also think that at some point you can decide to wear the hell you want that makes you feel confident without having to fit an esthetic. I hope that this girl will rock her beautiful cottage dress and love herself in it. Not everyone has to look the same :)

Also even within those groups, people are constantly talking about getting tattoos aligned with those interests. I'm in a lot of dark cottagecore groups because I'm a basic goth in her mid 20s that enjoys nature and fantasy. A huge number of people there have tattoos, typically aligned with those interests. (And those groups typically exist because they feel as though these groups really encompass a lot of the things they love, thus tattoos often follow those vibes for that reason.)

It’s interesting because it seems like a slightly different phenomenon than the style choices we made when I was younger. For example, if we conformed to an aesthetic (I.e. punk, emo, goth, raver..) it seemed to become more inherent to our identity and lifestyle, which is often difficult to separate from. The ‘core’ aesthetics these days seem to be something people can move between or combine more fluidly, perhaps allowing for more comfortable transitions between life stages, maybe allowing a stronger sense of individuality overall 🤷‍♀️

I like to live my life without regrets. My whole thing is "temporary regrets", you can regret something for like 5 minutes like eating that super spicy thing but no "real regrets" which are lifelong

the bullying thing online is crazy. People nowdays dont understand tht they are bullies making someones life worse, they think its all just jokes online. But on the other end is a human being recieving all this

as an enby person, getting big, bold tattoos that i love has made it easier to embrace feminine parts of myself that i’ve never really embraced, for myself. a lot of performative femininity in my youth and now it feels so much more genuine

I don't know much about different "cores" but I have tried my hand in historical dressing Edwardian inspired and I actually think that combining this with tattoos makes it even more interesting. It makes the look more you and fucks with people's expectations :D

This just highlights how important it is to have diverse representation in each aesthetic or core. There was a period of time where I felt like I couldn’t be a cottagecore girly because all the cottagecore representation was thin tiny white girls and I felt too large to participate. Luckily I was able to overcome that but it definitely highlights the importance of representation

My goal has always been to be heavily tattooed. I've always stood out and always was a bit of an outsider. But if being part of an in-group is important to you I can see why tattoos might become a problem. My artist got back to me and it's shaping up like I'm starting my sleeve in June 😎

I get what she’s saying, but you CAN see the changes in her aesthetic thru the years if you’ve followed her for a long time. Her tattoos don’t hinder the aesthetic from coming across. She’s giving off the pink fem fairy girl vibes in this video, I just think she has a hard time seeing it since shes not outside looking in, shes just comparing herself to what she sees the rest of the ppl in that niche look like. Great video!💘 I could relate on so many levels on the things you had to say Lauren! I can resonate on the feeling of "forgetting I have tattoos", because it is just like you said, you get used to them just like you would be used to a mole or birthmark. But also on the topic of people just asking about your tattoos and not even being interested in the rest of your personality. I love talking about tattoos, but yea, when that is the ONLY topic surrounding you and the ONLY thing people want to talk to you about, it gets very exhausting. Feels like people just reduce you to your tattoos and make you feel like there is nothing else to you, even when that isn't true.

In a way I'm lucky, having tattoos isn't much of a change for me socially. Because I'm alternative, I feel unhappy dressing "normally" and almost always dress up in a way that catches peoples attention whether I like it or not. I find that especially hard since I'm autistic and I am overwhelmed when people want to socially engage with me in any capacity. I have started my bodysuit, I have my chest and shoulders done now, and I also have a few self done tatts including fingers (sorry Lauren 😅). I noticed people around me start talking about tattoos when I'm out in public now, and many stare and give dirty looks. But it isn't much different from before 😂 I already used to get nasty comments for the way I dress, especially since I'm fat 🤷🏽‍♀️ Headphones and sunglasses on, and I walk on by lol

I just got my tattoo convention tat done! It was a grueling 3 hours, and I realized that the back of my calf is more painful than the side. ✨ Worth every second, because the tattoo is killer. 🤘🏻🖤

What I find sad is being a 26 year old person regretting anything because of tik tok? And feeling like you "don't belong"? We are adults, are we really still having that middle school mentality and feeling sad because 14 year olds on social media don't like our style? But then again, I guess that's what being an influencer does.

I've never felt like my tattoos held me back with the way I dress. I just dress mostly in t-shirts, jeans and boots. But I will say I feel more comfortable in my skin being tattooed. But with that being said I think she looks great. Let her try as many styles as she wants.

I love Snitch and watched the video when it first came out. I can definitely see where she’s coming from especially in the modeling community, I’m sure it’s tough feeling so different all the time. Tik tok probably just amplified on those already sensitive feels and it makes me glad I never got it, just seems like another place to get judged and opinions shoved at you by people who don’t matter. The only tattoo I fully regret and want to get covered is one my ex went on at me about getting, he was a abusive piece of keck but I'm waiting to find the perfect thing to cover it. It is upsetting but i wish she would find her own road to travel for her peace, wear the cottage core and mix it with your own thing.

My best friend got reported and kicked off tiktok for being plus sized. She wasn’t doing anything against their guidelines just doing normal trends that were happening at the time. She was getting AWFUL hate comments about how she should off herself and mass reports on all her stuff. People are cruel bullying never went away it just became slightly less tolerated

I am a ballroom dance professional. That means Im in literal ballrooms all the time- competitions, galas, cocktail parties. And I live in a conservative state. I waited until I was 29 to get even a couple of small tattoos to test the waters, and people would comment, I would stick out. But I just opened my own studio and Im so excited to get a full back piece! I figure at this point, they can’t fire me. But I am having to consider what style would suit being seen in that environment, so I definitely understand the idea of tattoos clashing with an aesthetic. If anyone has suggestions for ornamental tattoo artists, let me know!

The first fairy core cottage core people I ever saw were a long while before the aesthetic craze and they were the wiccan/witch community most of whom were talked and stunning and just as fairy like! also plenty of minimalist people with tattoos 💗💚 Make the styles your own and others may be inspired too 😊😊

There are 2 definitions of “heavily tattooed”. From the POV of people who don’t have a lot of work done, anyone who has large, visible pieces (like sleeves or their chest) are heavily tattooed. Then, there is heavily tattooed within the tattoo community from the POV of people running out of real estate 🤷🏼‍♀️ But I understand what Snitchery is saying. It can be really difficult to change up your style and aesthetic when you have large, visible work done because that in itself is an aesthetic and it kind of overruns any other style you try. 😕 Especially when what you have in your mind doesn’t match what you end up looking like with all of your tattoos showing.

I have tattoos essentially from my elbows to my toes (some are still in progress like one of my leg sleeves) however they are all covered by a standard button-up shirt and pants, so I come across as very "plain" aside from my short hair with undercut (as an androgynous female). But this is because I volunteer as an EMT in a place where it is still very conservative about tattoos and didn't want them to negatively impact my work. It is slowly but surely changing but I am in no rush to get my forearms or hands tattooed, especially since I have other pieces still in progress. Also my tattoos are for me, they make me happy and I don't care if they are on display all the time.

I have some regret about my tattoos I got when I was 18-21. I started tattooing at 18 and practiced on myself a lot and now most of my tattoos are poorly done nonsense and there’s not a lot of room for new things. I want to keep tattooing myself and now that I’m a lot more accomplished I would be able to cover some of the things I’ve done but at the same time, like you said, I like to see how far I’ve come. I think that seeing my memories on my body reminds me of how much I’ve grown. It doesn’t matter what they look like it’s the memories I have attached to each piece that helps me reme my life and I’m grateful for that. I’m about to be 25 now so I def relate to snitchery and how she feels like she’s not the same person anymore. My style hasn’t changed necessarily but I’ve changed and grown.

I love being tattooed. I’ve fallen into a few trend traps over the 22 years I’ve been getting tattooed, but nothing I regret as far as content. I have some bad tattoos that are going to be covered or blasted over. But no regrets. Also, social media isn’t real life. So there’s that.

This kinda reminds me of when I was learning about how different styles present differently on varied body types. Like a Gamine can look edgy in an outfit that looks sophisticated on a Dramatic. Both people can look sophisticated in certain clothing, both people can look edgy in certain clothing, both people can wear the same outfit. But both people won’t have the exact same impact in the exact same outfit no matter how much they would like to. Of course she can wear anything she wants, but she doesn’t feel like the aesthetic she’s going for hits the same. I think it’s okay for her to be bummed about that, just like I sometimes wish an outfit that looks amazing on someone else would look the same on me. Something that they can pull off casually might look formal on me or vice versa and sometimes that ruins the whole point of wearing that particular outfit.

this is super interesting to me. there's been a few times ive coloured my hair an unnatural colour and I immediately feel as though i'll be seen as "scene" or look untidy/unclean because of my tattoos

The way that I can relate to this is that I've been wearing my hair shaved to 1cm for more than a year now and it's like the best decision ever, I love it so much, but sometimes I miss just being able to fit in or look like all the other pretty girls. Like flowery summer dresses just never look quite right on me and it feels a little bit off wearing them too. Time to invest in some wigs I guess haha

The length of your hair should not define your femininity. I’m sure that you are beautiful regardless of what you wear. I’ve been bald and as close to bald as you can get. I’ve never thought about anything I’ve worn or worried about not being seen as feminine. Although, if I’m wearing a cap and coat, I can be mistaken for a male. It’s happened recently while I was masked. I did correct the offender, but shrugged it off. I am also not trying to tell you how to feel. I hope you eventually come to terms with your look and rock one of those flowery dresses with pride.

I am a Cis gendered woman, I don't know my sexual orientation other than pretty much Ace, but I can tell you the one time I ever questioned that was literally two days ago at a karaoke bar when a gorgeous woman with a buzz cut dressed in what I would consider a feminine way but not a dress, rocker glam, got on stage and just absolutely killed it. Her voice aside (which was like listening to sun through honey) she had the confidence and love for herself to just let herself shine in all her glory on that stage. So please, rock those dresses if you really want to, you absolutely can. Dresses are for anyone and everyone. Fuck the beauty industry standards, you are beautiful no matter what some advertising campaign says.

The way she feels is valid; I only have one tiny tattoo on my ankle that I got when I was 19 and impulsive. I love tattoos, but I don't think they're for me, I somehow I'd get bored with them if that makes sense (in the way that I get bored if I have the same hair colour for too long). However, her feelings also scream "chronically online" to me which makes me feel sorry for her. I think she needs to touch grass and realise it's fine to not rigidly fit into whichever micro trend is popular on tiktok. If you love the trend, you can make it your own, there shouldn't be such unbendable rules when it comes to style.

i totally understand this, i’m going through the exact same thing as snitchery. i feel my tattoos make me look masculine, tiktok has made me feel my tattoos make me feel like i’ve boxed myself into a style i’ll never be able to evolve from. i am in such deep regret for getting so heavily tattooed so early in my life. it’s so isolating.. they used to define me and help me feel grounded to my body.. but now i can’t even look in the mirror.

This reminds me of a point I hit too, I got full color on each of my upper arms and thought I can’t wear anything that clashes with these. Now I don’t even consider them when picking an outfit. I think it’s an age thing, once you have a tattoo for years and years you don’t think of it as an accessory it’s just your arm now lol

I watched this original video, and the thing that kinda bugged me is idea that the only thing holding her back from the "cores" are her tattoos. In my personal opinion, what is holding snitchery back from those particular asthetics is her overall personality. Her tattoos just happen to match that personality.

I think what's holding her back is worrying what other people think too much and maybe over thinking that there are a "strict set of rules" to follow if you want to fit in a certain aesthetic. Perhaps when she got all the tattoos she didn't have a reason to care about other people's opinions (idk her situation), but now she has a social media following and is afraid of being told "You'Re DoiNg It wRonG"; maybe because she already gets hate comments and doesn't want to get more? Idk. I just know that with the right attitude you can rock any vibe you want. The idea of fitting into "cores" is just so...prescriptive to me. It's shoving yourself in a little box that you don't need to be in. I find it interesting that someone who has previously seemingly done what she wanted with her appearance, is now worried there's a wrong way of doing things. Regretting a tattoo is one thing, changing your style is another, but blaming those tattoos for holding you back from dressing a certain way, or accessorising your home a certain way is...indicative that you might have something else holding you back and you're projecting. I do know what it's like to buy a dress because it's super cute and I know it'll look great on. Only to get home & put it on... and instantly feel like I'm not supposed to wear it and "I must look weird". It took me a long time to figure out that my problem is nothing to do with the clothes it's was something else. As soon as I acknowledged and gained understanding of what was going on, I was able to move past it and wear what I like, not caring about others. But maybe hat comes with age too, 🤷.

If she wasn't any of those things she probably would have figured out if she wanted to wear something she wanted or go a place she wanted, she would have to push past other people's expectations. I don't want her to feel bad about herself at all, but it does kinda sound like a privilege that's meeting a really shallow obstacle for the first time. I don't know her. I also hate to make a gender assumption, but imagining this from people who don't fit into strict gender binaries wearing clothing outside their gender and doing so... like idk, just wear a dress? I had a black trans coworker in Texas who would wear dresses to work some days. If she could do it .... and I'm certainly not as out there as E, but my ugly ass wears dresses to weddings with my vaguely conservative family weddings with all my tattoos. But I'm never worried about being pretty, so that might help me. I just wear what I want.

@dm actually, part of her issue is because she is biracial. I think she frequently feels "out of place" because of her race. She's also either a lesbian or pansexual (i forget which) and struggled with her sexuality for a long time. She's pretty well come to grips with both of those issues; at this point i truly think it's because her personality is just too punk rock for cottage core 🤷‍♀️

So I don’t regret my tattoos, they’re my favorite part of me but I did notice that my partner and I have had a harder time getting an apartment because I’m very modified large stretched ears multiple lip piercings and nose piercings, visible tattoos on my arms. My partner is tattooed as well his tattoos are a HUGE piece on his back one on each leg and upper arms so you can’t see them unless he’s shirtless or in shorts. People still judge, and though it’s illegal to discriminate here I’ve noticed we’ve had more people call us back if he goes alone or if I dress less alternatively. It makes me a lil sad that there’s still people like this but 🤷🏻‍♀️ I do have all sorts of plans for our place to look like one of these aesthetics that she says she won’t fit in like you said, at one point your tattoos become like freckles they’re a part of you!

I feel like I should tell you that you projecting such a kindness and your gorgeous very visible ink would make me gravitate towards you in a situation that I felt uncomfortable, like a wedding, or some other upscale setting event. The ink makes me feel so much more connected to you than I would otherwise. You seem to be very secure in your tattoos, but it felt like a nice thing to add here just in case you were going through it that day ♥️

Just because someone has a sleeve and some other arm tattoos doesn’t make them heavily tattooed. I’d consider it moderately or average tattooed, especially since she doesn’t have any other tattoo placements

My only aesthetic is not having one. I have lots of tattoos in different styles and I wear whatever I want when I get dressed. I get where she’s coming from, but when I see heavily tattooed people in any aesthetic it just looks that much cooler. If people judge and think I look trashy, they’re entitled to their wrong opinion 😂

I’m a woman in my fifties with a leg sleeve , a chest piece and a couple of arm and back pieces . I have a lot of tattoos but don’t think I’m heavily tattooed, until I’m at the swimming pool . In just my swimming costume, I suddenly ‘see’ all my artwork. No regrets as , such, just wish some work was better. People ask me if I wished I haven’t had all the work , when I was younger, ironically, most of them were done in the last 5 years!😄👍🏻

For various reasons I never got tattoos done, but wanted them since I was a kid. Then 5 years ago I found adult temporary tattoos on Amazon, bought some to try out if I even truly want them (as I’m messy with decisions sometimes, change my mind easily too) and for once in a long time I felt like I belonged in my body. I now go thru piles of them every summer while I research and save up for real ones. I get comments everywhere I go, which is not introvert friendly, but again they do bring me confidence. I am always up front with people with visible work because they tend to seem heartbroken at “how vibrant and perfect” mine are and Ill feel horrible if I don’t tell them. To non visible I just say “thank you”and fight the urge to tell on myself. I’ve never gotten negativity from real tats for the fakes. These fakes helped me learn so much about what I want and where, although style pickings in the fakes dept are slim there are thousands to choose from. They’re getting a lot cooler recently. Maybe there’s a raise in people using them? My friends with real ones love getting my extra fakes to play with lol. Thank you for helping educate me in my tattoo journey so I can make better informed decisions, as well as all the juicy bits❤

As a fellow 33 year old tattooed female I really appreciate hearing your opinion on this Lauren! I also don't get the style "cores" that she mentioned but can completely empathize with her. When I was her age I was just starting out trying to make as an adult and I was getting tattoos that were easily hidden (i.e. on my legs/back/stomach). Specially working as a healthcare professional, I thought I'd never be able to tattoo my arms/chest/neck. As she said, change is the point of your 20s, but to experiment but tattoos are a very specific commitment. Specially the different styles (thinking about the big tribal sleeves) go in and out of fashion, makes kids confused I guess? Now I honestly do not give a shit and I am getting my arms tattooed. I hope she finds a style she can fell comfortable as her own self, with or without tattoos showing. Just to comment on the "heavily tattooed" part - I am fully with you - I do not think she is heavily tattooed at all, but it might be how visible they are?
