Taro, Purple Sweet Potato & Pumpkin Glutinous Rice Balls is such a delicious dessert. So colourful and the best part is: this is made of natural root vegetables and no artificial colourings ❤️
Glutinous rice balls in warm ginger syrup is a traditional Chinese sweet dessert enjoyed during the Dongzhi festival, also known as Winter Solstice Festival. These sweet rice dumplings are also known as Tang Yuan (湯圓) in Mandarin or “Kuih Ee” in the Peranakan community.
Served in pandan ginger infused syrup, these soft and chewy colourful Tang Yuan are simply delectable. Enjoy!

I will definitely try this in Philippines. Usually I cook them without coating glutinous but only glutinous balls with bananas,sweet potato, tapioca pearl ,coconut milk ,evaporated or fresh milk they called it bilo- bilo in Bicol region but in Visayas we call it binignit😊.

They’re so beautiful! And healthy! Would these be ok to eat during 做月子吗? I don’t know if the pumpkin and taro are cold or hot foods. The sweet potato is ok though right?

Thank you for your comment. Glad you liked it! Actually it can be eaten during confinement period. But traditionally, Chinese usually believe that taro / yam can cause allergic reaction, so you can omit the taro if you prefer. Hope that helps :)

你可以用保鲜膜包暂时把面团收起。但是建议提前一晚先做好汤圆,隔天再煮汤圆。撒一些糯米粉,放入容器收在冰箱里。
