Imagine an enchanted audience in front of an enormous stage in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Thousands of fans screaming just for her: the one and only Tarja. Having their cameras and cell phones ready to film what will become one hell of a performance, Tarja finally appears, dressed fully in black and with the most beautiful smile on her face; she is in full bloom. Let the show begin.
Filmed at Stadium Luna Park in Buenos Aires, Argentina on March 27th, 2011 during Tarja’s “What Lies Beneath World Tour 2011”, “Luna Park Ride” will be released as 2CD, 2LP, DVD, Blu-ray and Download on May 29th, 2015 on earMUSIC.
Previously included in a very limited edition of her Top 5 live production “Act I”, May 29th finally sees the stand-alone release of the breathtaking “Luna Park Ride”. For the first time available on audio and video, the fan filmed material is topped with 14 (!) bonus live performances and offers the full package including previously unseen photos.
Ranging from Tarja classics like “I Walk Alone” to “Until My Last Breath”, the high quality audio mixed by Tim Palmer (U2, Pearl Jam, Robert Plant) and fan video recordings also feature Nightwish rarities such as “Stargazers” or the electrifying medley of “Where Were You Last Night”, Belinda Carlisle’s “Heaven Is A Place On Earth” and Bon Jovi’s classic “Livin’ On A Prayer”.
The 70 minute bonus material, also mixed by Tim Palmer, takes the fans on a tour of Tarja’s festival appearances and club shows from 2010 to 2014: From Tarja’s 2010 show at Masters Of Rock in Czech Republic with her band, choir and full orchestra live on stage, to a 2011 performance at Summerbreeze festival in Germany including a very special Gold Award presentation, continues with a recent performance in Ekaterinenburg, Russia as well as a performance together with Van Canto at last year’s Wacken Open Air. The bonus material finishes with three fan favourites - “Never Enough”, “Die Alive” and “Victim Of Ritual” - performed at Summerbreeze Festival 2014.

Ich sehe viel Kritik an der Veröffentlichung von LunaParkRide in dieser Form und zugegeben war ich auch erst enttäuscht, weil ich etwas anderes erwartet habe. Doch diese DVD ist etwas ganz besonderes, es ist eine Homage. Die Idee und der Aufwand, ein ganzes Konzert als Film-Collage aus Millionen von Filmschnipseln der unterschiedlichsten Formate und Systeme in dieser Form zusammen zu bringen ist genial und gewaltig, die Synchronität stimmt zu jeder Zeit. Diese Arbeit ist ein Meisterwerk im Schnitt, das dauert tatsächlich Jahre und kostet viel Geld und kann nur ein älteres Konzert beinhalten und ist daher auch sehr mutig in unserer schnelllebigen Gesellschaft. So betrachtet ist dieses Album ein Dankeschön der höchsten Form an die Fans, und so sollte man es annehmen. Danke Tarja!

This release makes no sense. Why release footage that is not even close to HD quality, on BluRay? Basically this minimized all the costs made and is only a money machine for the label I assume. Kind of disappointing. She deserves better production quality.

Think about it. There is no cheaper way. You ask the fans to film the show. It's free and then the only money is going to editing and mixing the audio and voila, you have a live release. And releasing this on BluRay when the video quality is even worse than what would be on a DVD is just outrageous and money grabbing. I think this is sad, because I know it could've been so much better.

Gerwin - This release is a MONEY grab. Act I Mediabook has the Luna Park footage already. In fact, the unreleased live recordings (e.g. I Feel Immortal (Live at Summerbreeze)) are BONUS tracks in Luna Park Ride CD/DVD/BluRay versions only. Download version of Luna Park Ride does not get the unreleased live recordings. Why??? Surely the unreleased live recordings should be the main live album?

I'm a HUGE fan. I buy everything she releases and I was there that night in Luna Park, but I think this is not necessary. She already released a live DVD/CD in HQ from THIS tour, filmed properly. This is even older than Act I, and released after her third album. Doesn't make any sense. I think the bonus performances should have been added in a DVD with different things. This is something old, and that we have seen before in a previous release. Sounds like something to make money... There are a lot of things she could do and release, that are new and interesting, like and acoustic album/dvd for example. I don't see the point in this.

Act I has the same and more songs even in HD! I really love Tarja but don´t know what was she thinking or maybe her managers, I would buy this DVD for the bonus tracks even there are only like 4 new songs:/

Somehow this release feels kind of rushed... I'm excited about it tho, but I think it'd have made more sense to release an entire set from her most recent tour instead of something from... 3 years ago? Hopefully the DVD will have a bit better quality... This looks like it was filmed with an iPhone.

stargazers on dvd sounds amazing but other than that there's not much to get excited about this release. Well, of course, it's Tarja but purchasing such a low quality release doesn't make much sense to me.

Werner Boshoff firstly it's not out of sync and secondly blame the label which produced the Dvd and added extra backing tracks. Not tarja. It doesnt sound like that live

Okay, but found a better quality live of this. The Official Music video is still better, but the one with 8.5 million views has really poor, smoky audio quality. There's better ones.
