Taping guide for Shoulder Pain - Rotator Cuff Strain

A Rotator Cuff Injury (Shoulder Injury) often presents as pain around the front, or across the lateral part of the shoulder. Using Kinesiology Tape the aim is to help support the shoulder in a retracted position. Follow our simple video guide, using two fairly long pieces of Kinesiology Tape to help relieve discomfort and improve recovery for your Rotator Cuff Injury. Our Kinesiology Tape is water resistant so can be used during strenuous exercise.

    It would be good to have the videographer video taping application of the second tape from the left side of you, so we can see where it is anchored on the scapula because your hand is in the way when you’re describing where is anchored.

    Hi. I'm not asking for myself but for my mom. She doesn't like to see doctors so I have been doing the research on what causes shoulder pain. Both of her shoulders hurt and I expect it's Rotator cuff issue. But because of the virus we can't go to a doctor, for starters we don't have health care and doctor bills isn't affordable for everyone. Anyway, I believe that she had torn both Rotator cuff in both of her shoulders somehow, Every time she moves them they cause her serious pain. She can't lift her arms over her head if she tries there is agonizing pain in both shoulder joints, She doesn't get a decent night sleep because of the shoulders. She has torn her rotator cuff once before and she swears up and down that's the issue, she knows more than me. That was only one shoulder but now it seems to be both. The odd thing is that her shoulders started to hurt after we had to use the ceiling fan when our Air conditioning broke. Now every time she uses the window unit it makes her joints hurt worse. I told her to only use the fan but my mom is very stubborn. The reason is because she gets so warm at night she can't sleep because she's too warm. Her shoulders hurt worse at night and when she gets up in the morning. She's been losing sleep because of the pain. It's been going on for a while now, shouldn't her shoulders be healing by now? She's tried aspirin, which works for a while but it's only a band aid. We have been doing heat therapy, Which seems to help but again it seems like her shoulders isn't healing. When they do feel good she uses them more she really should but I think that's just a naturally response. She's also drinking pineapple juice once a day, I heat up a special pillow that you can heat up in the microwave and put on her shoulder joints every few hours a day and at night. Ice mates the pain worse. Although she haven't done the heat therapy in a few days because she was wearing the tape. Can you continue heat therapy when the tape is on your joints? Or will that not make it work or something? Again I've been doing a lot of research. I guess what I'm asking is, will this tape help her? I have tried this tape once on her it worked for the first time but the second time not so much which I think I did something wrong the second time, But this is different from the other video that I watched. So I guess what I'm wondering is, will this help her? And I know that this isn't year old video and I probably won't get any response from you. But I have to try. For my mom. My mom is a very active person and she can't be active with her shoulders and she is in Isabelle because of it. Please. If anyone can give me any information how to help her. Please, I'm all ears.

    Hi there, please research thoracic outlet syndrome and rather than pineapple juice try apple cider vinegar for a month and notice any changes. I suffer from the same issue, it sounds like a muscular skeletal issue not rotator cuff. Weight training the lats and back of the shoulders has helped.

    i play volleyball and the back of my shoulder blade hurts every time i serve, hit, or pretty much do anything that requires my shoulder to move a lot. will putting this tape on when i play help? can i take it off after just one practice or game, or should i keep it on as long as possible?

    Hi Zoe, thanks for your message. It is difficult to give a yes or no answer, as it depends on the pain you are dealing with in your shoulder. Our tape is used to support and stabilise muscles and joints during exercise, so it could help if you are feeling this type of pain. It can be taken off after one practice or game, but it is designed to last 4-5 days too. It would be best to see a specialist who can advise you on whether taping will help your current condition.     Agree w/@theleneholt1909…we can’t see where you anchor second piece of tape as your hand blocks our view. Otherwise very helpful👏👍 I’m nursing rotator cuff injury, & finding ur video before I can get into PT is great!! Thx 🙏

    My shoulder isn’t constantly in pain but only when I lift weights at the gym slightly, the pain isn’t that bad, will this help with it?

    Hi there, thank you for your message. Pain in shoulder when lifting weights can be caused by many things. We would advice you to consult with a Personal Train or a doctor. But here are some things which might be helpful: You can try the kinesiology tape and see if it works. You will need somebody to apply the tape for you. Please make sure that the tape is applied correctly based on the instructions. Apply the Kinesiology tape 30 minutes before you do any exercises, to make sure the glue has time to activated. Make sure that you had a good warm up before any exercises and also double check the weights and the repetitions which you are doing. You can also use ight Meglio band Yellow and do a shoulder rotator cuff exercise. There are some videos on our channels which you can follow. Hope this helps, and again double check with your personal trainer or consult with physio/gp. Thank you, Meglio

    My shoulder hurts while practicing and is bad the day after. Would it be helpful if I put this on my shoulder the day before practice or the day of?

    Hi Julia, you can tape some areas of the body, however shoulders are a bit tricky to do by yourself. We would recommend a professional to apply it or someone who can follow our video guide. Thanks

    The tape unstretched is 100% so if if you make it 1/4th longer stretched. It is stretched 25%.

    I previously tore my rotator cuff and I play volleyball. I have done other taping techniques and they work semi-well. Will this stabilize and protect my rotator cuff when I am swinging through?

    i crashed into another bike the other day and my shoulder really hurts but it’s not bruised but it does hurt to move it like there’s a lot on tension should i strap it like this?

    Yes you can shower with the tape. Dry it with a clean towel after and do not use a hairdrier.

    للأسف القناة لاتسمح باضافة الترجمة وإلا ترجمت المقطع. فقط أضيفي الشريط كما في المقطع بداية الشريط ونهايته لاتشد أما عند الصاق البداية فشدي الشريط بنسبة 25-20 بالمية وتوقفي عن الشد في نهايته بعدها امسحي الشريط لتنشط المادة فيه ويكون فعال. هذي الطريقة تساعدك اذا كنت تعاني من ألم عضلات الكتف إما من الأمام أو الخلفية

    It helped me get through the last 2 years before my knee replacement surgeries Perhaps a physical therapist could help you find a different way to apply it.
