What bothers me is that the Sho't is in here, but the a similarly centurion based South African tank, the Olifant isn't, even though they saw actual armoured combat during the Cold War

The TV8 was actually the most succesful design on this list because every tank that came against it died of laughter.

Good job by placing the EE-T1 Osorio on the list, this Tank was one of the best, around late 1980s, even out performing the Abrams tank, in Saudi Arabia, but the Osorio project was abandoned due to lack of support from Brazilian Government and no potential buyers, the tanks manufacturer ENGESA closed down its doors.

Nice chronological progression.

Awesome work, loved the cultural time hacks. Your Challenger at 6:56 has the Chally II turret, the two turrets are significantly different and were, basically, the reason the second version was named Challenger II. Yep, a nit pick, doesn't detract from what is an excellent post.

It makes me happy to see the centurion still in service to this day shows how excellent it and the t-54 for that matter.

I believe Strv 103 was the first tank equipped with a gas turbine engine. The Stridsvagn 103 was uniquely powered by two different kind of engines, a 240 horsepower (180 kW) Rolls-Royce K60 opposed-piston diesel for slow cruising and manoeuvring the tank in aiming, and a 300 horsepower (220 kW) Boeing 502 turbine for additional power when travelling at higher speed or in severe terrain; the same layout that later gave the naval configuration called CODAG (COmbined Diesel And Gas), even if many ships had instead the simpler CODOG (COmbined Diesel Or Gas) thanks to the difference between the diesel and turbine power (see, as example, many frigate built for the NATO navies, like Maestrale and Bremen classes). The turbine was quickly found to be underpowered, and was replaced by a Caterpillar turbine delivering 490 horsepower (370 kW) after no more than 70 tanks had been produced, and retrofitted to all previous vehicles. This was the first use of a turbine engine in a production tank; the Soviet T-80 and US M1 Abrams would later be built with gas turbines for main propulsion. The concept was interesting enough that Bofors was asked to build a prototype of the suspension/drive train, which they completed successfully.

Did you get the Challenger 2 confused with the challenge 1? (The model)

Correction, the Leopard 2A4 and A5 variants used the L/44 gun. It is the later variants that the L/55 gun. Otherwise this was a good video and I like how you also showed what was happening around the time of these tank’s introduction.
