A writeup from WoT Japanese tank enthusiast Leggasiini: Tier 5: Mitsu 108 - A fake fusion of Mitsu 104 and Ishi 108 heavy tanks (latter which is also likely a fake, and even the former is dubious). There's a chance both Mitsu and Ishi are fake tanks by themselves, so what we have here is potentially a fake tank that's a result of two fake tanks combined together. Still, assuming the Mitsu 104 is real (which is very close to this thing), the Mitsu 108 is basically like...1% historical. Tier 6: Ju-Nu - Completely fictional. Basically a what-if tank if Japan got the Tiger I tank and produced its own, native heavy tanks using features of the Tiger. The design is plausible, but its complete alternate-history fantasy. Tier 7: Ju-To - Completely fictional. Same story as the Ju-Nu, though the design is a lot less plausible. The hull design barely looks Japanese, and the side screens on the turret is something Japan really didn't do during WW2. Tier 8: Chi-Se - The only "real" vehicle in the branch, and even then it can be considered fictional, as the design is completely hypothetical. Chi-Se was a very obscure plan of "next generation medium tank", with 10.5 cm AT gun, rotating turret and "a new type of suspension". Nothing else was known - no drawings of it exist. It was presumably very late WW2 design and thus didn't get anywhere. It's commonly represented as basically a turreted Ho-Ri (sloped armor Ho-Ri hull, Chi-Ri turret and 10.5 cm gun), but there's no actual evidence the Chi-Se was exactly like that. Funnily enough, the design WG used for the Chi-Se is heavily based on the Chi-Se design made by the Japanese WoT PC community, which was done for their Japanese tech tree proposal. So basically, a community-made tank design has made it in. Pretty cool. Either way, some things about the Chi-Se are surely wrong - it was a MT, not HT (though functionally it was much closer to a HT than MT), and it has heavily overinflated armor. Tier 8 premium: Type 57 - Fake as fuck. Whereas the other heavies are at least somewhat believable designs, this one is total bullshit and is on par with shit like WZ-111 6 and new rocker booster derp gun heavies. It's like Object 252U fused with STA-1...what? There's nothing even remotely realistic about this tank. Tier 9 and tier 10: Type 68 and Type 71 - I list these together because their story and basis are identical. Basically, these are "what if" designs. Japan had weight restrictions due to bridges as stuff, as foreign MBTs would've been too heavy to cross them. This is why the Type 61 and STB-1/Type 74 were lighter than the comparable MBTs from other nations. The idea with these tanks is "what if Japan didn't have those weight restrictions and could design much heavier MBTs?". The designs are...actually not bad and quite believable. The Type 71 in particular is just a STB-1/Type 74 on steroids, a lot of steroids. Both of these tanks are bit too heavy to be feasible, though - if these were real, they most likely would've still capped to 50-55 tons, not almost 70 tons like the Type 71. However, while these are somewhat believable designs, they're still completely fictional. Basically, the HT line is mostly "what if" tech tree that is mostly based on theoretical possibilities. Its sort of "alternate history" line, but the designs (other than the tier 8 prem) are actually interesting and something Japan could've very well done if things went a bit differently. Like 95% fake if not more, but because the designs are fine and actually cool, I wouldn't mind if they were added.

Ah I remember the debut of world of tanks 10 years ago. I played this when I saw an ad over on History Channel about a tank game. Me, being a loco for tanks when I was a kid immediately played the game. I ran down the German Heavies because just everybody else, I want to get my hands on the Legendary Tiger, but enough said after months of playing WoT the game gradually expands the tech trees and it was this time I could see some tanks which only exists in blueprints and of course some of fictional tanks. As time passed by I could see an entire tech tree that didn't exist especially the introduction of the Waffentrager Tank Destroyer line. I finally concluded that, Wargaming no longer focuses on real tanks but more of the fantasy tanks of the devs. I quit WoT after that. Just sharing, no hate. I like WoT but I'm just disappointed on the number of fictional tanks present, not to mention most fictional tanks are OP.

Both the Ju-Nu and Ju-To suspension is based on the real Japanese design that was proposed for the Type 5 Chi-Ri project. *''During the development of the Type 5 Chi-Ri several different experimental wheel and suspension designs where proposed. In the end it was decided to use the same suspension used on previous designs to cut down on development time. The one seen here was designed by the Technical Research Institute, known as the Chidori suspension it used eight interwoven road wheels supported by torsion bars in a similar manner to German Panther and Tiger tanks.''*

For what little information I have, tiers VIII and above seem to be based on OTO-Melara's participation on the MBT-70 project, as they were responsible for developing its autoloading system and, if you compare the designs in the game with that real project, they share a lot of similarities. So I'd say WG just took that and ran with it, turning it into "OTO-Melara then designed their own stuff" and stretching it into 3 different vehicles (4 or 5 if that also applies to the tier VII and the premium).
Was it just me or did anybody else noticed how much the Chi-Se's hull looks like the ones from AMX 50 line? 5:22 -Yes I am a French main in WoTB , WoT and also War Thunder, how did you know?

Hey, companies needs something new to spark their customers' interest. I used to make scale models primarily with WW2 Japanese war machines but after a while I yearn something more than another Zero or Chi-Ha. I even dug up an old, unfinished Tiger tank model and painted it with Japanese armor camo. One of my earliest kit bash was slapping three Russian tank models together in an attempt to make the T-35 land battleship. I rarely make any models these day but I have noticed that there is a rise of experimental or "What If" and even alternate history fantasy WW2 vehicles being released in the scale model market. Their rel life origins might be dubious but they do add some interesting diversity to your model collection.
I'd love to see this sort of thing again but maybe with a different line (Such as the new italian TD's or the British AT series)
Technically speaking you dont have to disprove them. Its nearly impossible to prove a negative as nobody ever wrote "We made this only in blueprints and it was never actually made." The people saying it is histroical need to provide evidence of the existence of the tank with actual certified documentation.

Weird how they did this line completely differently to original WoT when the other lines seem to be fairly similar. The Japanese heavy line in WoT starts at tier 6 with the real on paper and maybe one prototype built O-I. The tier 7-8 O-Ni and O-Ho are almost certainly WG original developments of the O-I. For tier 9-10 are the Type 4 Heavy and Type 5 Heavy, which are more distinct as their own design. I've seen some allegations that the turret of a prototype Type 4 was used in a fortification in Manchuria, but I'm not aware of any concrete evidence either this turret or the rest of either of these tanks existed either as prototypes or even on paper.

@warpey5632
Жыл бұрын
As far as I know, a prototype of the O-I was constructed and tested. It failed due to its inability to drive through mud and the suspension breaking under the immense weight of the vehicle. After that, the Japanese concluded that vehicles of such weight would be impractical which puts an end to the O-I project and any future heavy tank projects. The O-Ni, O-Ho, Type 4 and Type 5 are War Gaming's interpretation of what Japan would have potentially evolved into if they decided to continue developing such vehicles.
@Catani99
Жыл бұрын
The O-Ni and O-Ho are not actually made by WG, they are based on the O-I 100t and O-I 120t designs floating around from different books and articles; it was only found out they were incorrect interpretations of the actual O-I after the tree was added. As for the Type 4 and Type 5, it’s highly likely that their story and sketch was made up by WG. There was no need for the Japanese to develop the O-I past the prototype, as it was a complete failure in all trials.

Generally large rounded designs (ie Cold war Russian Turrets) are cast pieces, whereas more angular designs are welded from smaller pieces. honestly, i love this line. if i look at these tanks, i think to myself: hmm, i can beliveve japan making such vehicles in an alternate history unlike italian and polish vehicles, i think these tanks are fine. for poland, they didnt have nearly enough tanks to have a general ,,feeling" of a polish tank, which is why i dont like the idea of the polish tech tree (altho the 60tp does look nice). for italy, they had enough tanks to make something, but not a big tech tree, so wg just made up a heavy and td line to go alongsides with the half-fake medium line. but for these japanese tanks, they genuinely have that japanese ,,feeling" and i really do think, that these fake tanks are actually completely fine

Speaking of fake japanese tanks, Men of War, Assault Squad 2 has not only alternative takes on Ho-Ri SPGs(since the game has infantry, the versions with 37mm guns are more useful to devs then sloped ones in Warthunder), but also a Chi Ri with 88mm gun, a copy of Flak 36 IJA captured in China in 1937-1940. This gun was produced by Japan unlike many other types of captured equipment. Remember lackluster japanese 25mm gun based on Hotchkiss? Remember how they also tried to copy Bofors 40mm in 1945 out of desperation? What if I told you that IJA captured several dozen german 3,7cm autocannons in China back in 1937 _and never told IJN, who needed such gun?_
Can you also do a video of the Japanese Heavy tank line in the PC version.
Finaly the mobile version of wot has apeared in your vids
"My source is that I made it the fuck up!" -WarGaming, probably
Ju-Nu appears to have several features of vaguely planned Chi-Ri II. The autoloader and hull 37mm gun from original Chi-Ri were to be discarded. 88mm gun, overlapping suspension with wide tracks and sloped armour were also supposedly considered. A gentle slope just like in Chi-To production version would have made sense, though a welded turret would have fit better to that idea.
i mean I understand why people would complain about Wargaming and them making fake tanks, but at least they actually do make the tanks look like something their respective country would make, although they're fake they look realistic enough

yes exactly
What about the WoT PC Japanese heavy tank line? Are they more historically accurate? ((Yes, I want you to finally make a video about the O-I))
You should do the Japanese 100 ton Heavy Tank the O-i Experimental there's a original artist depiction of the tank and maybe blueprints.
Do the Yoh series tanks next of the United States tech tree.
my fav tank game thanks cone of ark
how much is a ConeofArc TV? how much are you selling?
Please do a video about Italian tank destroyers next
The Ju-To turret looks like the Class 3 (P) Turret
Speaking of WOTB, any chance you review the Polish Heavies and British Heavy lines?

Most of the heavies in the British Line are real only the 215b isn't, the 215b (183) is supposed to be the next tank after the Conqueror
Wow, a sponsor from Amazon itself. Nic3
Could you say about the T25/2 and the T25 At series of american tank destroyers?
I decided to watch this despite the amazon sponsorship. You should be honored.
What about the OG japanese heavy tanks from the PC version?
As a player of the World of Tanks PC (not the PC port of Blitz btw), I am curious. Is this a second Japanese heavy line because on the PC version there is only one line of Japanese heavy tanks? I have never seen these tanks before in the PC version.

This line is only in blitz so far
YOOO YOU ACTUALLY KNOW THIS GAME
Do the PC super-heavies next
When they started making up tanks is when I stopped playing but that was years ago
Now ya just gonna look at the annihilator in blitz and look at its design
And WoT sponsored this video! I was considering this game until I watched one of their release videos. The dialogue was "buff this... nerf that.... blah blah nerf nerf buff buff." I thought that can't be good. This is not going to be historically accurate. I was right. It turned out to be go-karts on tracks with an RNG aiming system. I play their competitor and I don't regret that decision.
The irony of the sponsorship
Hey con arc can u please make a video about the yoh tank line of world of tanks blitz
They're big and cool and I love them
Ju-nu is Japanese Tiger by WG hence its overall asthetic Ju-To is King Tiger
Highly doubt that the M 104 that is shown right at the end is Japanese, considering all the specs are written in Swedish. Had a big double take there.
I kinda like the fake tanks. Typically WG does a pretty fair job with their “what if” tanks. Most are how I imagine they’d look if they tried that.
