Tammy Wynette - 'Til I Can Make It On My Own

Музыка

'Til I Can Make It On My Own by Tammy Wynette
Lyrics:
I'll need time
To get you off my mind.
And I may sometimes bother you;
Try to be in touch with you;
Even ask too much of you from time to time.
Now and then,
Lord, you know I'll need a friend
Till I get used to losing you.
Let me keep on using you
Till I can make it on my own.
I'll get by,
But no matter how I try
There'll be times you know I'll call.
Chances are my tears will fall,
And I'll have no pride at all from time to time.
But they say,
Oh, there'll be a brighter day,
But till then I'll lean on you.
That's all I mean to do
Til I can make it on my own.
Surely, someday, I'll look up and see the morning sun
Without another lonely night behind me.
Then I'll know I'm over you, and all my crying's done.
No more hurtin' memories can find me.
But till then,
Lord, you know I'm gonna need a friend
Till I get used to losing you,
Let me keep on using you
Till I can make it on my own.
Till I can make it on my own.

There is a small bar in my area that does karaoke on Friday nights. There is a lady there that from time to time will do this song. I love the song and when I get the chance to go, I ask her to do it. The last time I went, I didn't even know she was there. As the music began, she pointed to me and did the song. I was probably the only one, but I gave her a standing ovation. Such a beautiful song.

Tammy Wynette is the greatest country singer of all time. No one can knock an emotional note out of the ballpark like Tammy did. No one can touch her songs either. A Tammy Wynette cover has never been better than her original. Others will feel differently but I think she's at the top.

I've never been a fan of most Country music, but I've always been one of Tammy Wynette's BIGGEST fans!! In my opinion, she was Country music's greatest and one of the greatest in all the music world! I literally cried like a baby the day she died...

One by one we have just about lost all the old time country singers. The songs where they sing part of it then talk some of the song out like " He stopped loving her today" by Geore Jones". Even tho he remarried as did Tammy they were made for each other. They both went to their graves loving eac other. Another song is like George Jones seeing into the future with song titled "Who's GONNA FILL THEIR SHOES" THE Generation coming up now is no way even close to any of them except Scotty McCreary and Chris Stapleton I think his name is. Won on the The Voice

I miss it as well. What is really impressive of this song is that she is one of the writers of the song. I cannot tell you how much I loath today's "country" music. It's more like bad pop music and there's nothing country about it. This song, like so many songs of that era, can really stand out lyrically on their own can't they? The words tell a convincing story. Today's country music cannot do that can it? The lyrics are pathetic. I believe that country music died soon after the movie "Urban Cowboy" came out.

The power. Even in her upper register. It sends thrills down my spine every time. And her lower register is like liquid honey. I know she wrote this song in pain only those of us who have lost to this degree and in this way can understand. If makes my heart bleed with sweet pain. Tammy, in your lifetime, I hope you found real love that doesn’t leave.

I was introduced to the music of Tammy Wynette in 1966, and it was a case of "love at first listen." In any musical genre, the greats (1) are talented singers, (2) have a unique quality that makes their voice instantly recognizable and appealing, (3) find or write for themselves top-quality material, and (4) work the hardest. No one can question that Ms. Wynette aced all four criteria, and that is why her legend and music will live forever among country fans. A few years before her untimely death, I had the great good fortune to meet Ms. Wynette after a concert for a brief hello and conversation about her music and life. She could not possibly have been more generous and gracious to me, a complete stranger. She was beautiful, poised and very, very funny (which was a surprise, but a pleasant one). At the time, I felt very fortunate to spend those few minutes with her. But, when she died not many years later, it was brought home to me just how lucky I had been. It is wonderful when someone you admire lives up to or exceeds your expectations in person, and Ms. Wynette certainly did. I will never forget her or her music ...

We're lucky,I also got to meet & talk w/ Tammy after a concert in 1967.. She was wonderful & so grateful that we were 'fans' This was about the time she won her first Grammy! Tammy was wearing a black fur coat & looked like a movie star (Tipi Heydren) from movie 'The Birds' the rest is history!

Beautiful voice, beautiful everything. Her voice is so stirring & heart-breaking. She sang w/such emotion that her voice truly is the most unique!! What a great gift God gave her. I'm glad she finally found a man who treated as well as she deserved. If George Jones had sought treatment sooner for the alcohol issue, they might've made it!! She just didn't deserve the pain.

I remember hearing all of her music when i was born and everyday as i was growing up! My dad divorced my mom when i was 1 yr old. Wen i asked my mom why she listened to these songs over nd over! Especially this song, she said, "that it was Tammy who helped her get thru the divorce and all the memories she had of my dad"! That was the day, i fell in love with Tammy Wynette! I will say tho so many people in Hawaii loves her, she is a legend here on the islands! Nd its not an age thing, bcuz all my frens nd i was raised up with Tammy Wynette voice and music! Not only was she naturally beautiful, and talented, but she was so caring and i no God took her to save her from all the suffering she endured with her health. After all the good she done, in return God took her nicely before things wud get worse! Thats my belief...her songs live 4ever in all our hearts, gone too soon but never will b forgotten! I love ya Tammy Wynette
