I would imagine Paul Davis who wrote the song and who was friends of Dan Seals, got the two together to do the song. Paul Davis also had a #1 hit duet with Marie Osmond in 1986, a year after Meet me in Montana.

You are so right! I think this song came out in the 70s and I was born in 71', back during that time we traveled a lot so it would come on the radio and I would sing it through, every word! It was an instant favorite, always has been!!

One of the truly great duets!

How many remember before Dan Seals decided to sing Country, he was England Dan to his singing partner John Ford Coley? Hard to believe it's been 14 years since he passed away. I still listen to all of his music.

Back when music was soooooooo good and hair was big !!! Thanks for posting.

I saw him at a west Virginia fair and I was probably 10 and he came off the stage and said he was thrilled I was so young and knew every word he sang..he pulled out a 20 dollar bill and signed it for me..to this day I still have it!! He is one of the legends !!

What a gem. God bless Dan Seals. Loved so many of his songs.
